Chapter 9

607 Words
Samika's POV I don't say anything as I watch Nyle gulp all the water in one go. I look at Gladys and she is already staring at my feet. Damn with this rule of not looking at Alpha's face! "Give him some food," I say and watch Gladys bow to me as she walks into the kitchen. Nyle doesn't meet my eye and I sit there on the couch, as Nyle is on the floor in the middle of the living room. I don't know how to start a conversation. Because this is not what I pictured in my head. Gladys gets Nyle a plate full of food and another glass of water. She places it before him and he starts digging in without even wasting a second. Makes me wonder if he actually ate anything for the past three days. I notice Devon walking in through the corner of my eye. He doesn't pay attention to Nyle, as he sits on the single seater sofa. He sits on it all the time as if it's reserved only for him. "What was that howl about?" I asked him even though I kind of guessed why he did it. "Oh! I was too happy to control it all in," Devon says with a smirk. Sarcastic bastard. "How did you find him?" I ask Devon and he just shrugs. "In one of the refugee shelter huts," Devon says and it totally slipped my mind. That place really skipped my mind. That was the first ever place Nyle brought me that was closer to the pack. (Heart of Ice, Chapter - 28) "But those places have little food and enough water," I say as I turn to Devon. I remember Nyle making me some hot soup the first time he took me there. "Yes. But Ty and I didn't give him time. We brought his ass here," he tells me and now I am angry. Not just angry, but an emotion I don't find the word of. Furiously furious, probably. "You brought him three days ago and didn't even tell me?" I ask him, more like screaming at him. "Three days, love. I got him pretty much the same day he left. I didn't let you know" he shrugs. "Why?" I ask him as I see Nyle finishing his meal already. I look at Gladys and she nods as she brings the first aid kit and helps him with it. "Because he was talking rubbish. And because he made you worry. And also probably because I don't like him," Devon says. I look at Nyle who is now wincing as Gladys cleans his wounds and bruises. By now I understood that the healing process is different for each werewolf and it depends on one's rank. "So you did this to him?" I ask Devon and he nods, with a smirk filled with pride. I have had enough. I really do. I ask him to get the f**k out, and kneel before Nyle as I take over the first aid kit from Gladys. Nyle faintly opens his eyes once he recognises my touch, and falls asleep again. Damn he is beaten to a pulp and if he was a human, he would have been dead by now. I turn around and I don't see Devon. And that is exactly when I made my decision. I made it just like that. "Come," I whisper as I help Nyle stand on his feet. He fails but I throw his arm over my shoulder supporting his weight and that helps him a little. "Where?" Nyle asks and that is a bare whisper. "Our home"
