I was feeling tired and a little weak after the ordeal that had just happened with Atticus, too weak to really argue with the visitor about where he was carrying me. That was probably the worst Atticus has ever beaten me before. All the Kings, except for Tiberius, had a tendency to beat on me. I think it was just their way of keeping me in place and keeping me in line, not that I really ever tried to go out of line before, other than a few times when I tried to escape but I wouldn't have tried to escape if they wouldn't have hit me. It's almost as if they felt threatened by me somehow and showing me that they were stronger than I am was their way of keeping me from doing something to them, even though I have no idea what I would do that would hurt them.
