he great party they are going to celebrate as a welcome for Emma. "I'm anxious to put on the dress I bought," says Elaine. Due to her distraction and thinking about Matías' uncle, Emma does not pay attention to her. "Emma, Emma," she calls, but Emma doesn’t respond. "Emma!" she shouts somewhat angrily. "What? If you want to tell me something, just call me calmly; you don’t have to shout," Emma complains. "If it were like that, you would have really listened to me when I tried to get your attention. You didn’t even pay attention to me. The truth is, since we had that problem with the women in the mall, you’ve been distracted and thoughtful." "I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to." "What are you thinking about? You’ve been like this all this time, and I’m curious." "It’s nothing. I’m just thinking about the surprise Matías will get when he really knows who I am." "Obviously, he will regret having been a complete i***t," Elaine replies. However, her curiosity is piqued about what kind of person Matías' uncle really is. The two finish their lunch and return to the Taylor mansion. There, Emma locks herself in her room again to contemplate the direction her life will take now. Before, everything she did revolved around Matías, and she had even put aside her own life to perfect herself. But now she is no longer married to him and needs to give her life a new direction. Her efforts to have a good marriage were in vain, and she could not win his love as she had always wanted. The only thing she got was contempt. "What will I do?" she says as she walks in circles in her room. "Maybe I should talk to my sister and see if there is a position in the company for me. Yes, that’s what I should do, and it might be for the best. I’ll go see about it right now." Emma leaves her room and decides to go to the company to talk to her brother. The last thing she wants is to stay at home all the time without doing anything with her life. Emma asks the driver to take her to the company. He prepares the car, and they set off for their destination. Her family's company is a multinational that merges with other companies and sponsors various businesses. Her family owns one of the largest companies in the country and is considered to be the richest family in the entire nation. Emma arrives at the company and goes to the floor where her brother Cristian's office is located. "Hello," she says to her brother's secretary. "Hello, how can I help you?" "I'd like to see Mr. Cristian Taylor, please." "Do you have an appointment with him?" "No, but please call him and tell him my name. I’m sure he won’t hesitate to let me in." "Very well. Tell me your name," the secretary says incredulously, as she doesn’t think Emma is really someone important or that her boss will allow her to enter without an appointment. "My name is Emma Taylor," she says. The secretary is stunned, recognizing the last name and recalling that her boss had mentioned Emma’s name several times over the past week. "Are you the boss’s sister?" she asks somewhat nervously. "Yes, that’s right." "Alright, let me take you to where he is. He’s not in his office at the moment." "Okay, then let’s go." The two head to the conference room where Cristian is having a meeting with some investors and new entrepreneurs looking to partner with his company. "Let me inform him that you’re here." The secretary enters the room while Emma waits outside to avoid interrupting an important meeting. After a short time, the secretary returns to Emma. "Miss, you can come in. The gentleman is waiting for you." "Okay." Emma goes into the conference room, where her brother is meeting with his assistant. "Hello, little brother," she says as she approaches him for a hug. "Emma, honey, what are you doing here?" "I want to ask you a favor." "A favor? What is it that you want?" "It's nothing you can't grant me." "Tell me what you want, and then I'll know if I can really grant your wish." "I want to work in the company. I don’t want to spend my time cooped up in the house doing nothing." "I think that’s something I can arrange," he says, smiling. "Really? Thank you, Cristian. You don’t know how much I appreciate it," she says happily and hugs him tightly. At that moment, by chance or fate, Matías enters the conference room and sees Emma hugging Cristian and kissing him on the cheek. "So this is where you are," he says sarcastically. Emma, recognizing his voice, quickly turns to look at him. "Matías, what are you doing here?" "I'm here on business with the man who, from what I can see, is your new suitor," he says, looking at her with contempt. "Excuse me! What did you say?" "Nothing. You continue with what you were doing. I only came to get these documents that were left here." Matías grabs a folder from the table and leaves the room. "Why is he here?" Emma asks her brother, puzzled. "There’s a project in which the partners want to invest." "I didn’t expect to run into him here. The way he spoke made it seem like he might think there’s something between us." "Don’t worry about what he thinks. You’re both divorced, and you’ll start a new life." "You’re right." "How about you wait for me while I see what position I can offer you in the company? Then, when I finish my work, I’ll invite you to dinner." "I’d like to go back to the house and rest. I’ve been away almost all day, and I’m feeling a bit stressed." "Well, if that’s the case, then I won’t keep you." "Goodbye." "Goodbye." Emma leaves the conference room, and to her dismay, she encounters Matías, who has not yet left. She heads toward the elevator, deliberately ignoring him. However, he follows her. She quickly enters the elevator and tries to make the door close before he can get in, but Matías is quick and manages to wedge his arm in to stop the door. Emma feels irritated at having to be near Matías. "I see it’s doing you good," he says. "Yes, that’s right." Matías smiles with contempt. "You always appeared to be an innocent woman, but in reality, you were just looking for the highest bidder," he says, demanding that she look him in the face. "That’s what you think." "And what else should I think? You left me a short time ago, and you’re already dating someone else who, without a doubt, is much richer than me." He shows his obvious annoyance, clearly uncomfortable with Emma having moved on. "Does it bother you that I’m with someone else, or are you mourning our failed relationship?" "What are you talking about?" "Don’t play dumb. You heard exactly what I said." "You’re shameless." "Not more than you, who slept with and impregnated another woman while still married to me. Stop feeling offended—you have nothing left." At that moment, the elevator doors open, and Emma exits. Matías remains silent, unable to respond to the woman who was once his spouse.
