Chapter Four

Violet Mercado I got home late last night and overslept. Now I came to school later than usual and there were a lot of students in the hallway when I arrived. I hate it when... *bogsh!* Just what I thought. Someone bumped into me, all because he was staring at his phone while walking. This won't happen again next time. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" he shouted at me. He's the one that's not looking in his way and he has got the nerve to yell at me. I got on my feet and started walking again. "Hey, Violet! Can't you at least say sorry?" he shouted. I ignored him and continued walking. I have no time to waste on him. "Violet! Violet!" I heard someone call me. I didn't bother to look back, whoever he is, I hope he won't ruin my already ruined day. "Violet!" he said. I tapped my shoulder. I closed my eyes in frustration and slowly faced this man. My frustration disappeared when I realized who it was. It was Felix that kept calling my name. "I've been calling your name," he said while catching his breath. "Sorry," is the only thing I could say. I forgot that he wanted to see me here at school. "You're quite famous around here," he said after he recovered. "What do you mean?" I asked, then started walking again. He followed behind me. "I hear your name and some boy from everywhere. Do you have a boyfriend?" he asked, then stopped walking, which made me stop too. "I have no boyfriend and I don't want to," I said and walked away again. "I don't have a girlfriend but I want to have one," he said, and that made me laugh. "What was so funny?" he asked and raised his eyebrows. "You? Don't you have a girlfriend?" I asked, laughing. "I loved someone before but got fooled," he sadly said. "It's like losing someone you love too." "Hmm maybe? Why? Have you lost someone?" "Yeah," he looked at me. "I'm sorry," he said, and I looked at him and smiled a little. "It's fine. I have no choice," I said, and he smiled back. "Why are you talking to her?" Jane suddenly appeared beside Felix. "Who are you?" Felix asked Jane, surprised. "Jane transferred asked student and you?" Jane asked Felix. "Felix," Felix introduced himself. "Violet, since when are you talking to him?" Jane asked me. I just stared at her, doingn't want to answer. "We just met last night," Felix answered instead. "Just last night?" Jane asked, shocked. "Yes, why? Is there a problem? Are you related to Violet? You sound like you knew her for a long time," Felix said, annoyed. "Well, Uhmm. What if you are not that trustworthy? What if something bad happens to Violet if she hangs out with you for too long?" Jane said anxiously. "I'll go ahead," I said, but Felix stopped me and held my wrist. "Let's come together," he said, and escorted me to my first class. I thought he'd leave after I entered the room, but he entered the room too. I looked at him surprised and he looked at me too. I looked at the doorstep and he looked at it also. "Literature is the first subject, right?" Felix asked. I nodded as an answer and I noticed that there were several eyes on me. "I'm in this class too," he explained. I have no idea how it happened. I just let it slide, I took my seat and Felix followed behind me and took his seat beside me, the seat where Jane was seated yesterday. "Why are we seated at the back?" Felix asked. "I don't like being seated in front," I said, then the whole class looked in our direction. *** "Who is he? He makes Violet speak?" "I don't know, maybe she talks with everyone now." *** "I thought she was dating Jun already?" "Maybe they're related or what?" "Yeah, maybe you're right 'cause as far as I know, she's already taken," *** "Wow! She just talked," "Yeah, I thought I was just dreaming," *** Those are just a few of the loud whispers we heard. Luckily, the professor came and the whispers stopped. "Transfer student, introduce yourself," the professor said to Felix. "Hi! Felix Manalastas, 18 years old, I'm currently getting to know Violet," Felix said. "I have a question," someone said. " When did you meet Violet?" "Last night," Felix casually answered. "oooooh," the class said in unison. Felix goes back to his seat before the class starts. Jun Villaruel "Rumors spread that Violet is with someone new. Aren't you gonna do something?" Arthur asked. We are going to Violet's class. "Why would I do anything? It's not like he was her boyfriend, right? I wouldn't talk to him if he wasn't a relative, right?" I said. I met Violet first and she hasn't talked to me since the first day. How come she had only talked to him he had only met last night? Right? "Yeah. What a smug," Jayson says funnily. It looked like their class was finished when we arrived. "Oh really?" Violet said to the guy she was with while walking out of their room. "What if something bad happens to you when you go to the bar alone?" the guy asks Violet. "Like?" Violet asked the guy. "What if there's some random guy getting cocky around you? That's why you need me to be with you all the time," the guy said. "Why are you talking to him?" I said, interrupting their useless conversation. I'm getting annoyed. "Who is he?" the guy asked Violet and didn't answer him. She stared at her. "Jun Villaruel, son of the owner of this school, Villaruel College, and suitor of Violet. Got a problem with that?" I asked him, annoyed. "Felix Manalastas, a friend of Violet," he introduced himself. "Just a friend. Come on, Violet, let's eat," I said, then holding her wrist. She didn't complain or whatever, she just followed. Arthur followed from behind. "That Felix Manalastas. He is the heir to the Gangster Arena in Singapore," Dave said while scrolling on his phone. "So he's a gangster." "Don't go near that Felix again, Violet. He's a gangster," Jayson said to Violet. "..." still no response. Maybe she was flustered. "Don't say that doesn't make me look bad in front of her," Felix appeared from nowhere. "Why? isn't it true? You're a gangster," I said to Felix. "Said by the one who is also a gangster," that shut me up. "Hey, Violet? Are you coming or what?" He said to Violet. Violet stood up and followed Felix. "Hey! She's with me! Let go of her!" I shouted at him and grabbed Violet's arm. A lot of students look in our direction because of what I did. "Don't make a scene," he said, and he was about to come close to Violet punched him in his face. *TUGSH!* That makes him fall on his butt and I look at Violet, but she's not showing any emotions. Felix gets back on his feet and punches me in the face, and we exchange punches several times. We both stopped at what we were doing, not because someone stopped us but because Violet was on another man's shoulder, unconscious. Violet Mercado While they were exchanging punches, someone came at me and covered my nose with a handkerchief and after I realized it, I lost consciousness. ... "Wake up!" someone shouted. I open my eyes and look around, I'm at a warehouse, someone's standing in front of me, she's the one that pulled my hair. "Didn't I tell you to stay away from Jun? He's mine!" she shouted angrily. "..." I ignored her and thought of ways to remove this rope that was tied to me and the chair. "You pesky little rat, both of them are fighting over you, it's not a good scene to watch, I need to get rid of you," she said, then punched me hard in the face. "I am going to kill you and you still keep that attitude?!" she asked, being irritated, but I didn't make a move and she punched me continuously. I can take all the pain but my face can't take it anymore. "Argh!! You are so annoying!!" she said and punched me more. "STOP IT ALREADY!!" a man shouts. I didn't have a chance to see who it was because I lost consciousness again. ________________________________
