Violet Mercado
I came to school earlier than usual to avoid some nuisance like Felix or Jun. When I arrived in the classroom, there was no one there yet, but time went on, some of them arrived and Felix still took the seat beside me. We sat quietly and we didn't try to talk to each other from the whole class hours through the lunch hour.
"Violet! Come on, let's eat!" Jenn shouted outside the room. She was with Lester and Vincent. I didn't utter a word, I was first in line and they followed behind me.
"Why are they staring at us?" Jenn asks when she notices that there are a lot of eyes on us.
"They are wondering why you are with Violet, and of all people, why you?" Jun suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
"Oh? We just want to be with our dear friend here, we don't know what you might do to her," Jenn told Jun with a smile.
"Friend? Violet doesn't have a friend," Jun said to Jenn. "You don't trust us? Well, don't worry, the feeling is mutual," Jun added, then grabbed my hand and was about to take me away.
"She's not coming with you," Lester said, then grabbing my other hand.
"Hey, let her go, Violet is mine. I got her first," Jun said to Lester.
"She's not a toy that's the same as finders keepers, losers weepers. She's our friend, believe it or not. So, if I were you, I'd let her go," Lester said, then forcefully removed Jun's hand that was holding my other hand.
"What the hell?" Jun asked Lester furiously.
"Don't make a scene, Jun," Vincent said to Jun.
"Do you want to fight for it? huh? Want to fight? Just say it, we're ready," Jun said and stepped back while popping his knuckles.
"We don't want to start a fight. But Violet is coming with us," Vincent said in a calm tone, then we started to walk away.
"Just give Violet to us and there won't be any trouble," Jayson said, which made us stop at our track.
"Can you please stop? You're being immature, I can handle myself, I'm not a kid, I can be with someone if you want," I said, then Jayson stepped to the side and let us pass.
"They are not trustworthy people, Violet. They will only put you in danger," Jun said from behind. Lester stopped and faced Jun again.
"Say that, if only you have the right to be with Violet. You're not even dating and you have the nerve to say that," Lester said to Jun.
"Violet Mercado, can I court you?" Jun asks loudly, which makes us stop. "Violet Mercado, I'm getting crazy, I ended up wanting to court you, can you please give me a chance? I want to prove to you that I can love more than you think," he said.
"You don't know me-" I said, but he interrupted.
"I want to know you, I'll do anything, whatever it is, I'll make you love me," he said.
I'm speechless.
"I will court you whether you like it or not," he said to the left. We were dumbfounded by what he said. I don't know what to do because of what he said.
The day passed and Jun was the only one on my mind. I continuously replayed to my mind what he said earlier. I swear at him in my mind every time it replays. I got back to myself when I felt my phone ringing. I answered it without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
[I'm coming over. We need to talk.] he said. I was curious who it was, so I looked at the caller.
"Okay, Dad," I said, then rushed to the apartment to get my motorbike and ride to a subdivision. He meant the house that he bought for me, not my apartment.
I speeded my motorbike to the subdivision, and in less than 10 minutes I arrived at my house. I turned the TV on and the TV on a seat like I was there the whole time. After a moment, he arrived.
"Hi Dad," I greeted him.
"Take a seat," he said, then both of us took our seats. He sat on the single sofa, and I sat on the long sofa. " You still don't have a boyfriend?" he suddenly asked, so I got startled. My eyes got bigger than they usually are.
"Dad, I have told you already, I don't want to-," I said, but he cut me off.
"I know, but, when you're turning eighteen, I'll choose who you will marry," he said.
"No dad, please. I don't want to. I oppose it," I said determinedly.
"Just give it a try," he pleaded.
"Who do you have in mind?" I said, irritated.
"You're in the same school as Jun Villaruel, right?" he asks.
"Yes, why?"
"He's the one I chose," he answered.
"No way," I said and crossed my arms.
"I don't care. Whether you like it or not, you will live with him in this house," Dad said, then walked out of the house.
"DAD!" I shouted, irritated.
Jun Villaruel
"Mom? What are you doing here?" I asked mom when I saw her sitting on the sofa here in my condo.
"I have something to say. It'll be quick," she answered.
"What is it?" I asked while walking towards the kitchen.
"It's been a while since your last relationship, right? So, I found you someone who you can love?" she said and looked like she wasn't sure.
"I already love someone," I answered.
"I haven't met that girl you are talking about and I don't care. I'll give you the details of when you will meet her. You should not disobey me," she said, like she didn't hear anything that I said.
"MOM!" I shouted, even though I have no idea who the hell the girl she wants for me, maybe just some pain in the girl or what.
