CH.10

(Aspen's pov)

After Hardin and I left the dining hall we went up to his room to eat and as soon as we walked in the door, Hardin grabbed me and pulled me close to him, and kissed me. I was not expecting that but I'm glad he did. I stood there for a moment after he kissed me and tried to calm my blushing. Hardin went into the kitchen area of his suite and put on a pot of coffee then we sat down and waited for our food to come up to us. I hated that I had to go home today even though I'll be coming back in a couple of weeks. It is kind of saddening. The omega's brought up the food and Hardin and I started eating. We talked about when I would be coming back and we decided that 2 weeks should be enough time for me to get my things packed and spend some time with my family before I move. When we got done eating breakfast, I went back to my suite to take a shower and get ready to head back to blood-orange moon.

After my shower, I grabbed my stuff and headed out to meet Hardin downstairs but before I got to the end of the stairs, I heard someone say my name so I stopped and listened to what was being said. I heard the person say that they would make sure I leave and would make sure I never came back. I didn't hear anyone else talking so I assume this person is on the phone and I wonder who they were talking to about me. Right before I walked out from behind the wall, I was hiding behind. I heard another thing this person said and the words if I have to kill her I will, came out of their mouth. I froze and waited until I heard footsteps letting me know this person was leaving. I ran as fast as I could out the door and ran straight into Hardin causing me to fall backward but he caught me by the arm before I hit the ground. He looked at me and asked what was wrong and I just shook my head with a pleading look in my eyes and he nodded. As soon as the car came around he put my stuff in the trunk and we got in. This time I let him drive because I didn't think I could handle driving after hearing what I heard.

Once we left packlands and got a little ways down the road, Hardin asked me what me rushing out the door was about and I broke down and started crying. Hardin pulled over and parked the car. He got out and walked to the passenger side, opened my door, and crouched down in front of me. He grabbed my hand and said "Aspen I know something is wrong. What happened at my pack that made you so scared?" I shook my head again but Hardin was not going to let this go he told me whatever it was we would face it together and handle it. I finally told him that I heard a phone conversation as I was walking down the stairs that involved me and I told him that I heard something about me leaving and this person making sure I never come back and what I heard about I will kill her if I have to. Hardin growled and I put my hand on his cheek which seemed to calm him down. I got out of the car and made Hardin stand up I wrapped my arms around his neck and put my head on his chest. I could feel his heart pounding and it soothed me. I looked up at him and told him we were going to be fine and that we would figure out who was behind the phone call conversation. I told him I wanted to do this together and that I still want to be by his side as his Luna. we kissed then got back on the road.

(Hardin's pov)

when Aspen told me what she heard I was more than pissed off I wanted to go back and find the f*cker who was on the phone and whoever he was talking to and kill them both. I think Aspen is starting to get more comfortable with us being mates which makes me so happy because I don't know what I would do if she was still uncomfortable being around me. I wish I knew who this person is but I know Aspen doesn't know all of my pack members yet so that's why I didn't ask if she knew the person. I looked over at Aspen and I see she is asleep with her head against the window I just smile because she looks so cute when she sleeps. Once we hit the halfway point, I wake Aspen up and ask her if she is hungry and ask if she wants to stop and get panda express again and she gets excited we stop and grab a bite to eat and she makes a suggestion. She says she wants us to do this at least once a month because she enjoys having a place to eat with me. After an hour of sitting there eating and talking we got back on the road. Aspen seemed a little more relaxed. when we got closer to her packlands, I could see Aspen was anxious. I reached for her hand and asked if she was ok and she nodded but I could tell she wasn't. I asked her what was bothering her and she looked over at me and said she was afraid she wouldn't be able to sleep while she was here after I went back home. I smiled because I knew where she was going with this, my beautiful mate wanted me to stay with her but then again she is probably right neither of us would be able to sleep now that she has accepted me as her mate.

We drove through the gate and when we pulled up at the packhouse Aspen's parents and their Alpha were standing there. When we got out of the car, we walked up to her parents and her Alpha and she introduced me to everyone. Her Alpha was happy to know she was going to be moving to a good strong allied pack and even happier to know she was mated to a good man. Her dad wanted me and him to go for a run to talk and her mom was so happy for us. I still haven't met her brother but I know I will soon. Aspen and I went to her apartment and no sooner as we walked in the door and closed it, there was a knock at the door I opened it and it was her best friends Trinity and Wyatt. They ran up to Aspen and engulfed her in a hug and I could see the smile on her face and it melted my heart. I knew she was going to miss her friends when she moved in with me so I walked up to them and told Trini and Wyatt they were more than welcome to come visit anytime. Trini turned to me and smiled then pointed her finger in my face and walked towards me as she gave me this look I backed myself into the wall and she put her finger into my chest then said, "If you hurt my best friend, I will drive to your pack and castrate you. Do you understand?" I nodded my head and she gave me another look and I said yes I got it. Aspen and Wyatt both busted out laughing and Trini turned and smiled.

(Wyatt's pov)

I decided I needed to take Hardin out for a man-to-man talk since he was taking my best friend and little sister away from us. I told Aspen that I was going to take Hardin to go grab a bite to eat and that I had booked an hour session at the pack spa for her and Trini. When the girls left, Hardin looked at me and said, "This isn't just a friendly bite to eat is it?" I laughed and said it was but I also wanted to talk to him and we headed out. Once we got to the restaurant and got seated, we looked over the menu and ordered. Hardin looked at me and said, "Well go ahead and grill me." I laughed and said dude I'm not going to grill you. I just want to know if you are serious about Aspen. Hardin looked at me and said, "Dude you know how the mate bond works just as well as I do. If I wasn't serious about Aspen, I wouldn't have asked her to be my Luna." I sat my drink down and looked at him. I told him I do know how the mate bond works but it's not just the mate bond. I looked Hardin dead in the eyes and said Aspen has had a hard life and I only want what is best for her. I need to know that your feelings for her go beyond the mate bond and that you truly care for her. He looked at me and said, "Wyatt, I know you care about Aspen and so does Trini and I'm glad she has friends like y'all. I promise you, Wyatt, I love her and will do my best as her mate to give her the life she deserves." Hearing him say that put my worries to ease and knowing his pack was a good pack also helped. I knew my best friend and little sister was going to be safe with him. Hardin and I sat there and enjoyed our food and then headed back to meet the girls. While we sat there and waited on the girls, I asked Hardin to help me with something special for Trini. When I told him what I was needing his help for, he smirked at me and said I'd owe him when he decided to do the same for Aspen. I nodded and said deal. He asked why I wanted to do it now and not wait and I told him I wanted Aspen to be here for it because this was something that her and I talked about when I found out Trini was my mate before she even knew. He nodded his head and we got to work. Hardin went to get the place it would be happening set up, while I waited for the girls to come back. when they walked in the door Aspen asked where Hardin was and I told her he had to go take care of some stuff but he didn't tell me what she smiled and said ok then walked to her room and Trini followed her. Hardin texted me to let me know he was almost done setting up I told the girls that Hardin wanted us to meet him at the park and then we were going to dinner to dress nice. Trini ended up borrowing one of Aspen's dresses and while she was changing, I pulled Aspen outside on the porch and told her what was going on and where Hardin was she had to cover her mouth to keep from squealing.

Once we were ready to head out, I grabbed both of the girl's hands and we walked over to the park. It was getting dark and I prayed Hardin got the candles like I asked him to do. As we walked up to the area of the park where Hardin had everything set up, Aspen and Trini both gasped at how beautiful the picnic tables were set up. Hardin walked up and escorted Aspen to their table and I escorted Trini to our table Hardin and I walked up to the other table to get our drinks and I thanked him for making everything perfect for mine and Trini's special night. I also told him I approved of him and Aspen being mates and he told me that meant a lot because I was like family to Aspen. We walked back to the girls and handed them their drinks Hardin plated our food and brought it to us then took his and Aspens back to their table we sat and ate dinner, talked, and laughed. Once we were done with dinner, Hardin went and got our desserts. He brought one box to mine and Trini's table and sat the other on his and Aspen's table. Hardin got Aspen to stand up and walk up behind Trini and I had Trini close her eyes. When I opened the box, there was Trini's favorite dessert with the words I Love You written on it. I told Trini to open her eyes and when she did she smiled really big and said "I love you too Wyatt" when she looked back at her dessert, I got down on one knee and held out the open ring box and said Trini, we've known each other our whole lives and I'm so happy the moon goddess paired us as mates because I wouldn't want to spend my life with anyone but you. Trini my beautiful future Luna will you marry me? She had tears streaming down her face and stood up and said "YES" while nodding her head. I looked back at Aspen and Hardin and Aspen was full-on ugly crying while Hardin held her close. I put the ring on Trini's finger and kissed her hand. After the excitement settled a little, we went back to Aspen's and hung out for about an hour then Trini and I headed back to my apartment.
