CH.6

(Aspen's pov)

Hearing Hardin tell me he wasn't going to accept a rejection and hearing how much he wants to be with me, made me decide not to reject him. I'm not going to complete the mate bond until I know for sure this is what we both want and I just hope he can understand when I tell him. I look up from the floor and tell Hardin that right now I'm not comfortable with completing the mate bond and he cups my cheek in his hand and says,

"Aspen. My love, we can take as much time as you need. I don't want you to feel like I am pressuring you into anything. When you are ready, we will take it from there but until you are I want to show you just how much I love and care for you. I want to show you how devoted to you I am and treat you like you deserve to be treated. I want to give you the world my love."

I'm sitting there staring at this gorgeous man as he says these things to me and I can't help but thank the moon goddess for pairing me with someone like him. Since finding out we are mates, not once has this gorgeous man made me uncomfortable or given me a reason to doubt his feelings for me. I look over at my nightstand and see that it's now 11:30. We've been sitting here for a little over an hour while Wyatt and Trini have been in the living room. Then I remember Wyatt was going to tell her she is his mate. Oh goddess. I hope he hasn't done it yet and I hope they are still here. I grab Hardin's hand and say, my love, there is something I need to go do for Wyatt and I need to do it now if they haven't left yet. We head to the living room and thank the moon goddess they are still here. Though it looks like Trini fell asleep while we were talking. Wyatt looks up and I motion for him to come into the kitchen. While we were waiting for Trini to meet us to go bowling, I came up with an idea to help Wyatt out by telling her she is his mate. Trini loves chocolate cheesecake, so I had the kitchen make one for her but on the cake written in chocolate chips it says, Trini, you are my mate. I love you! I tell Wyatt to get the cake out of the fridge and I'll wake her up and tell her you have a gift for her. He nods and heads to the fridge and I go to wake her. Trini finally gets up and it's now 11:50. I tell her Wyatt has an early birthday present for her and she squeals and claps her hands like a small child. I burst out laughing and look over at Hardin who is also laughing at my best friend. I tell Wyatt she is ready and tell her to close her eyes. Wyatt sits the cheesecake in front of her on the coffee table and steps back. He looks like he is about to cry and he is fidgeting with his fingers. I count to 3 and Trini opens her eyes.

She looks at Wyatt then down at the cake in front of her and tears start streaming down her face. She says,

"Are you serious?" Wyatt breaks down and says, "My love, I am serious. I love you so much, Trini. You have no idea."

She jumps up and runs to Wyatt and wraps her arms around his neck and says "I know exactly how you feel. I've been in love with you for years Wyatt."

I'm over here a bawling mess again, watching my 2 best friends confess their love for each other when my mate is standing behind me begging me not to reject him only minutes ago.

(Hardin's pov)

I'm standing here awkwardly watching her best friends get together and I'm jealous as hell because that's how I wanted things to be for us but I know she needs time to work through her issues and needs time to gain my trust. After they all hug and Wyatt tells Aspen thank you for helping him with the cheesecake, they head out. Once Aspen closes the door, she heads to the kitchen and opens a cabinet, moves some stuff, then pulls out a bottle of patron. Before I could say anything, she looks at me and says,

"Want a shot? Because I sure as hell need one after all the sh*t that's happened tonight." I let out a chuckle and say I thought you didn't drink since you are underage?

She looked at me and said, "I don't drink all the time. I only have a shot or 2 when my mind wanders back in time or I wake up from nightmares of that night."

I asked her how often she has those nightmares and she said that she used to have them every night but over the last year once every couple of months. I walk toward the counter and reach for the bottle. I guess she thought I was taking it away from her but I opened the bottle and poured her a shot then poured a double for myself. My phone starts vibrating and I pull it out to see Jakob texting to let me know they are getting ready to leave and he wants to know where I'm at and why I went after Mikael. I reply to him saying,

***I'm at the Beta's daughter's apartment and I will explain my reason for attacking Mikael tomorrow.*** He sends a text back saying, ***"Damn dude, I thought you were holding out for your mate but I guess she was too good to resist."*** I texted back the words ***ENOUGH! WATCH YOUR MOUTH WHEN TALKING ABOUT MY MATE AND YOUR FUTURE LUNA!*** The only reply I got back said, ***"Yes Alpha."***

I asked Aspen if I could stay with her tonight and head home in the morning. I promised her I would behave and sleep on the couch. I told her I just wanted to get to know my beautiful mate better and spend as much time with her as I can. she agreed to let me stay the night but made me pinky promise her I'll behave. This woman is so damn cute. We both have another shot and decide to sit on the couch to talk.
