CH.31

Aspen’s pov

I got a phone call from Trini saying people at blood-orange moon were talking bad about me as Luna and Hardin as Alpha. When I asked who was saying it she said the Omega’s heard it from Daelyn, Dayton’s friend. I already knew who all of this was coming from. Dayton. He said he was going to make sure we were looked at by the elders and spreading rumors is how he thinks he will succeed in doing so. I decided not to call my parents and get them involved in this. This was now between me and him. I mind-linked Hardin and told him to get Jakob and Annalynn to meet me in his office. I went upstairs and waited on them, as soon as they walked in I said that b*tch wants a war she is going to get a war. They asked what was going on and I told them about what Dayton came to say this morning and how as soon as he got back rumors about me and Hardin being unfit as Luna and Alpha were all over my pack back home.

Jakob growled and said, "no one disrespects my Alpha and Luna." I told him to calm down since he was still my brother. He apologized and said, "it pisses me off that someone is talking sh*t." I said I know Jakob and that’s why I'm about to do some digging and recording. He looked at me and raised his brow.

Annalynn said, "what do you need us to do sis?" I said I need a video made of every guy here who she has slept with and is still sleeping with except Walker. I don’t need him running back and saying anything to her. They both nodded.

I asked Jakob if he would be able to contact any of their friends from neighboring packs and get them to record videos as well he said, I sure can." I told them I also needed video proof of any recent messages to any of these guys just so no one could say it was bullsh*t. They said we are on it and left.

I went back down to the greenhouse where Hardin was and finished helping him and the Omega teens we recruited for today plant a bunch of vegetables and fruits. After we were done there we headed to the park and cleaned it up by weeding out the weeds and planting new flowers. While taking a break Hardin asked me where Jakob and Annalynn were and I told him they were out getting information that I needed to take down my enemy. He raised his brow and I shook my head. I heard that b*tch in my head again talking about how much of a goody goody I was doing chores that Omega's should be doing and I knew she was watching us so I grabbed Hardin’s shirt and pulled him to me and kissed him passionately. I could hear her screaming from anger and I knew it worked. I smirked when I pushed him back and went back to work. A few minutes later I got a call from Anna saying they had quite a bit of guys so far and more were coming forward. I told her to get as many as they can that will be willing to do it. She said got it and hung up. Hardin looked at me and I said I’ll tell you later he nodded and we finished up the park. We headed back to the packhouse with the teens so they could get paid for their help today and the kitchen staff prepared them something special for all their hard work today. Once we got the teens paid we headed upstairs to our room to shower and relax until dinner.

After my shower, Hardin said, "ok now tell me what you have my sister and Beta doing for you." I told him about the call I got from Trini and what my brother was doing, Hardin got pissed and started growling. I told him to relax and that I had it under control.

He asked me what I was doing and I told him. I said since we tried to explain to him she was a lying skank this would be the only way to get him to believe me. I told him I wasn't going to show him but instead I was going to get Wyatt to do it and make it look like Wyatt did it to help him.

He kissed me and said, "that is a genius idea baby, ok now what was with that deep passionate kiss?" I blushed and said I knew Daphanie was watching us so I wanted to piss her off. He looked at me and said, "how did you know she was watching us?" I said I heard her talking about me. I froze when I realized what I just said.

Hardin said, "what do you mean you heard her? She wasn’t anywhere around us." I tried to come up with something but I couldn't so I decided to tell Hardin the truth. I explained how I could hear people's conversations even if they are at a distance. He asked how long have I been able to hear people like that. I put my head down and said since the day after you proposed to me. He then asked who was the first person I heard and I looked away and told him it was his conversation but I didn't hear all of it, only a few words he said. I told him I was tired and wanted to take a nap before dinner and I went and got in bed.

Hardin’s pov

Aspen went to take a nap after dropping that news on me and I stood there for a few minutes speechless. She can hear people who are nowhere near her. I wonder if that is her ability? My phone rang and it was my dad. He said he needed to talk to me so I headed to my office.

When he came in he said, "son, it's about the Alpha and Luna ceremony." I nodded and he sat down. I asked him what he found out and he told me that elder Todd thinks that Aspen is in fact a blessed wolf and that orb was her gaining her abilities.

I rolled my eyes and said that’s what we were already thinking dad. How are we supposed to know if she is? He asked me if Aspen had done anything unusual since the ceremony and I said not really other than she told me a little while ago she can hear people's conversations from a distance. My dad raised his brow and said, "how far?" I said I don't know exactly so far she has heard a conversation from the townhouses while we were standing in the park.

He asked if I knew who’s home and I said, Daphanie Perez. He said, "son that's a good distance even for a wolf, are you sure?" I said yes dad she knows Daphanie’s whiny voice. My dad asked if that was the only conversation Aspen had heard and I said no she actually heard part of my conversation with Jakob and Wyatt while we were down by the lake the afternoon after I proposed.

My dad said, "son I'm not trying to be nosy but did you and Aspen mate the night of your engagement?" I told him that we did but we hadn’t marked each other yet and showed him my neck. He said, "I think she may have gained an ability and mating may have been what turned the switch on for it."

I asked him what to do now that she can hear people’s conversations and he said, "son she is going to have to learn how to control it or keep stuff she hears to herself unless it's life-threatening or any danger to the pack." I got a mind-link from Aspen asking where I went and I told her I was talking to my dad and that I'd be back in a few minutes. My dad smiled and said, "go ahead son we covered what I wanted to talk about." I gave him a hug and he left.

I sat there for a few minutes and tried to think of a way to tell Aspen but the only way was to just come out and tell her. I went back to our room and when I opened the door Aspen was sitting on the couch. I gave her a half-smile and she asked what was wrong. I sighed and said it’s about the orb baby, she said, "go on." I told her what my dad and I talked about and she said, "well it makes sense now." I said what makes sense now? She said, "that I can hear people talking at a far distance," she said, "I thought I was going crazy at first but now I know I'm not." Jakob mind-linked me to let me know dinner was ready so we went down to eat.

Aspen’s pov

After dinner, Hardin and I went for a drive. While we were riding around I told him what I heard him say at the lake. I asked him why he was talking about being a father and he said, Wyatt, asked if he wanted pups and he told him he did and that he wanted to be an amazing father like his dad. I smiled and said if the moon goddess blesses us you will be an amazing father baby. Look at how the young wolves in the pack look up to you and the little pups love when you come up and talk to them or play with them.

he grabbed my hand and said, "I love you so much Aspen, you are an amazing woman, and Luna and I am thankful that the moon goddess chose you to be my mate." I smiled and told him I love him too and I was also thankful that the moon goddess chose him as my mate.

Hardin asked if I wanted to let our wolves out for one on one time and I started to freak out. He asked me what was wrong and I told Hardin I haven't shifted into Sapphire yet. He said, "I forgot baby I'm sorry." I told him I would like to shift though and he smiled and said, "I know the perfect place for us to shift and let our wolves run." I asked him if shifting hurts and he said, "I'm not going to lie yes it does hurt the first time you shift because your bones have to readjust and it burns it feels like your skin is on fire but once you fully shift all of the pain and burning eases and with me being in wolf form it will help keep you calm during the shift." I nodded and said I mine as well go ahead and get it over with.

We headed out of the city into the country and I was in awe at all the farms and small farmhouses we passed. We drove for a good 45 minutes down a 2 lane road and then it turned into a fork in the road. Hardin pulled forward and I saw a gate that was covered by some brush and he got out and unlocked it. When he got back in the car I asked him where we were and he said it was land that his grandfather gave him when he turned 18 that belonged to his family dating back to his great great great great grandparents. We drove down the dirt path and came up to this little shack. We parked and he got out and came around and opened my door. He unlocked the door to the shack and lit the lantern inside on the table. This little shack was far from run down on the inside. It was so homey and the paintings that hung on the wall were beautiful. There was a bed on one side of the shack that was big enough for 2, a wood-burning stove, a sink, a fireplace, and in one of the corners there was a small stand-up shower and toilet. Which look like they were added to the shack. I looked at Hardin and said I love this place baby. When was the last time you came out here? He said it was his 20th birthday. He didn’t want to deal with a bunch of people wanting to party so he came here to get away and enjoy nature and relax. I told him I wanted to move here instead of living in the packhouse and he laughed and said, "trust me if we could I would move here. This is my favorite place and I'm thankful my grandfather gave it to me." He said, "come on baby the moon will be at its highest peak soon and we have a good little walk ahead of us." He blew the lantern out and locked the door back and we headed into the woods. After a good 15 minute walk, we came to a clearing that had a nice size stream on one side of it and Hardin started to get undressed. I followed his lead and undressed as well. I asked him how do I shift?

He said, "let me talk to Sapphire." I let her come forward and he told her she was going to have to force herself to come through and take over. She said yes mate I will help her through this. She gave me control again and before I knew it Hardin began shifting into Blaze.

When he fully shifted I stared at this humongous wolf that was golden brown with amber eyes. He lowered his head to me and I walked up to him and said you are so handsome Blaze. I love your color. It looks like you have streaks of gold in your fur. He rubbed his snout across my cheek and I felt a tingling sensation that turned into a burning I guess it was time. I stepped back and Blaze mind-linked me and said, "keep your eyes on me mate." I looked at Blaze and focused on him while my body started to spasm.

I could feel my bones readjusting and I couldn't help but scream from the pain. Blaze whimpered and I took a deep breath and before I knew it I was looking through Sapphire's eyes. I mind-linked Hardin and said what color is Sapphire? He said, "baby you are absolutely beautiful. I've never seen a wolf your color before." I walked over to the stream and when I looked down I was in awe of my wolf. Sapphire was a white wolf with a light blue tint, she had semi-long fur and had Sapphire blue eyes.

Hardin shifted back and walked up to me. Sapphire nuzzled her snout against Hardin’s arm and he said, "you are beautiful Sapphire." Sapphire lowered her head in a bow and Hardin asked if she would like some time with Blaze. Sapphire lifted her head and licked Hardin’s hand. He let Blaze take over and I tried to ignore what they were doing.

After 3 hours of being out in the woods, Hardin and I were given control back and we headed back to the shack. I asked Hardin if we could stay the night there and he said he had training in a few hours and then had to go over the blueprints for the new townhomes but we could come back and stay the weekend here. On our drive home I said well not only are you a sensual lover but Blaze seems to be one as well.

He laughed and said, "Blaze is big and bad when he needs to be but he is also a compassionate wolf but if you want rough he won’t hesitate to give you what you want." Then he said, "Sapphire is feisty and absolutely beautiful." I smiled and said she is beautiful and said thank you for helping me get through my first shift. He kissed my hand and said, "no need to thank me, baby." I yawned and Hardin turned the radio up a little and I fell asleep.
