Chapter 27- My Guts

2086 Words
Like last night, it was taking me a while to get some good sleep. After hearing his silly words, I thought about going to the library and sneakily meeting Sammy again. Fortunately, I remembered and noticed the CCTV monitors inside the room, so I hesitated. I decided to take another warm bath to calm my silly and horny thoughts. Then, I occupied and distracted myself by sending Almira, Sawyer, Erin, and Jose messages and reading texts from Layla, Diane, and Mika. Luisa was indeed correct when she said that my one-night affair would happen again. Having s*x with Sammy was like a drug. It was so addicting and worth trying to feel the excitement, even for a little while. Our sneaky bedventure had truly marked my mind and soul. I also took Erin’s advice not to put everything at stake. And it seemed Sammy was on the same page. “Damn…” I puffed, lying on my side and watching Elisha sleep. I couldn’t help but smile as I looked at her baby bump. “Hey, there…” I murmured, slightly touching it. It seemed only yesterday when I was chastising Elisha about sleeping with Kyle. My friend truly fell in love with the bastard’s games and sweet talking in bed that she ended up pregnant and broken. She believed in a relationship where lies and secrets were the foundation. I may be right in deciding not to commit to a relationship with Sammy. I would enjoy the open communication with him and the happiness of having someone in case I needed a hand or fingers. “Goddamnit, Sammy!” I muttered, feeling embarrassed as I thought about his silly words earlier. His hands and fingers were great. “Yeah, of course, he’s a surgeon... Ugh!” I answered myself, grunting and scratching my hair in irritation. “You okay? Still awake?” My eyes gaped as soon as I heard Elisha’s hoarse voice. “Oh, I’m sorry. Did I wake you up?” I worriedly asked. Elisha snorted and gently got up from the bed. “No, this freaking bladder of mine is full again!” I chuckled and offered, “Let me help you.” “Thanks.” I walked Elisha to the bathroom and waited for her to relieve herself. “You done?” I asked as I looked at her. For some reason, she was still sitting on the toilet bowl while staring at my crotch. Her brows knitted together as if wondering what I had. “What is it?” I looked down at where she was glaring. Elisha shook her head. “Why do you have bruises on your thighs?” she asked, “Those red marks. What are those?” she added, yawning. I was taken aback before checking what she meant. I noticed the red marks on my thighs. Those were fresh hickeys from Sammy. “Oh…mosquitos…mosquito bites. I got it when we hiked the other day,” I fibbed, scratching them. I silently hoped Elisha was sleepy enough not to ask more questions. Elisha’s sleepy eyes squinted, and her lips pouted before slowly nodding. “Okay, hand me the tissue, please. Thanks…” she nonchalantly murmured. “Here!” I gave it to her right away. I felt relieved. She seemed to believe what I said. I took a mental note to ask Sammy about the mark. A few minutes later, Elisha and I walked back to bed. We cuddled like we used to, making me fall asleep in no time. The following day, Elisha and I prepared separately. We used to shower together and chat as we glamoured ourselves. I didn’t notice the marks Sammy left on my skin last night when I showered, and luckily, I didn’t find any more other than on my thighs. Elisha and I were having breakfast when a familiar voice greeted us. “Guten Morgen, ladies!” It was Sammy with a cheerful vibe. He looked dashing in his simple white shirt and gray sweatpants. “Good morning, doc!” Elisha smiled at him. “Good morning, Elisha! How are you and our little munchkins?” Sammy asked back as he took a seat next to me. “Hey, sweet Sophie!” he then winked at me. “Hey…” I beamed back at him before serving his plate with food. “Thanks, sweety,” Sammy mumbled. “They are okay! Though, they kept waking me up every three hours!” Elisha snorted. Sammy chuckled, “I hear you, love. But that’s part of your pregnancy journey. Your uterus or womb expands to accommodate your growing twins. That puts pressure on your bladder and bowel and makes you urinate frequently,” he said as a matter of fact. “Yes, I’ve read about it,” Elisha pouted. “You’ll be fine, Elisha,” Sammy replied, “How about you, Sophie? Everything okay?” he asked before taking a bite of sausage. “No, I’m okay. Thanks for asking,” I said before returning to my eating business. “No, you’re not!” Elisha chimed, glaring at me. “Oh?” Sammy narrowed his eyes at me. “What’s wrong?” Elisha took a sip of her juice before talking again. “Sammy, do you know any good cream for mosquito bites?” She thoughtfully added, “Sophie’s thighs were full of red marks from mosquito bites she got from her hike.” Fortunately for me, I wasn’t drinking my coffee, or I would have spat it all over the table. “Elisha!” I grunted. Sammy arched his brow and looked at me, “Mosquito bites?” he asked innocently. I wasn’t sure if he was playing it or was genuinely concerned about those mosquito bites. “Yes! I saw it last night, right, Sophie?” I nodded before simply sending Sammy death glares. “Yes, it was itchy, actually,” I pretended, scratching my legs and thighs. “Oh… yes! Yes! I know,” Sammy seemed to realize what Elisha meant and what it was. “There’s an OTC cream she can use. I’ll write you the name later,” he confidently said before nudging his elbow onto my arm. “Bad mosquito.” My eyes widened, and my jaw clenched as I sent him a sullen look. Gladly, Elisha was busily eating her food. “Stop…” I grittily hissed. Sammy took his cup of coffee. “I know. Sorry,” he murmured before sipping it with a smirk. Elisha and I quickly finished breakfast and left the mansion to see Layla. After saying goodbye to Sammy, Venn drove us to Layla’s place, but not without stopping at the pharmacy to buy the ointment for my bites, aka love bites. I typed a quick message for Sammy before going back to the car. ‘You little naughty doctor! I hate you!’ A few seconds later, Sammy responded to my text. ‘Not happening again on your thighs. Maybe I need to hide them further. I miss your sweetness and moans already. Xx’ My face and the back of my neck turned warm. ‘Stop!’ ‘Just kidding! See you and enjoy your girls' day out!’ ‘Thanks! Take rest and see you later,’ I quickly replied before putting my phone inside my bag. About an hour later, Elisha and I finally arrived at Layla’s place. “Elisha! Sophie!” Layla welcomed us at the door, “My lord, Elisha! Your bump is so big!" She said in awe, hugging our knocked-up friend before facing me, “And you! You look glowing and flushed! You must be having a lot of s*x!" She bluntly commented, making Elisha laugh, and me feel guilty. “Stop! As if you are getting more!” I teased back. Layla laughed before hugging us tightly. “I missed you, my girls!” “I don’t!” I kiddingly replied before getting a selfie photo of us. “We need to start catching up. This weekend will not be enough!” “Of course!” Layla agreed before going inside her flat with our luggage. Since I already knew Layla’s trouble with Ced, I let the two ladies talk and catch up on their past troubles. I volunteered to cook our lunch since we didn’t want to go out yet. I was busy preparing the ingredients when my phone buzzed and rang. I excitedly checked it, thinking it was Sammy, but it wasn’t. “Erin…” I mumbled. There were missed calls that I overlooked. I decided to call her back, but she wasn’t answering. As far as I knew, they would be on their way back to the mansion. Abi’s grandma permitted Erin to take Abi with us for her hospital visit. She and Abi drove me back to the city yesterday and would stay overnight at Jose’s place for Abi’s checkup early today. When Erin didn’t answer the call, I continued my chores and cooked Layla’s favorite grilled chicken and Greek salad. I also made mashed potatoes for Elisha and her usual fruits. As soon as I was done preparing the table, I decided to call the ladies so we could eat our lunch. I was about to knock on the door when my phone buzzed again. It was Erin again. I quickly answered it, and Erin’s crying voice greeted me. “Oh, no…I’m sorry…” I mumbled in worry. Erin got sacked by her boss, Abi’s father. Apparently, they were involved in a traffic accident on their way back to the mansion. Like how Chase trailed us, a black car followed and taunted them. Luckily, Greyson entered the chasing scene but her car crashed into the ditch. Abi was safe, and so she was. “No! Don’t feel bad! Greyson didn’t even let me explain. I believe it wasn't Chase!” I sighed deeply, “Yes, he’s a coward and must be hiding!” I added, though my guts were still afraid he had something to do with it. “Yes, but yeah. Grey is an assh*le!” Erin replied, “I am just sad about Abi…They are going to hire a new nurse for her,” she cried this time. “Hey…stop crying…” I sadly soothed Erin, “You will be okay... Everything will be okay.” I assured her, albeit my mind was dreading it. Erin and I spoke for quite a while before ending the phone call. I silently prayed Chase had nothing to do with Erin’s trouble. I felt terrible for her and wished the police would update me about my case with him. The whole afternoon went by. I decided to wait to let the ladies know about my problem with Chase. The two had so much on their plates, plus Elisha and I dedicated our day to Layla. Later that evening, we all decided to go out and get dinner at Layla’s favorite Chinese restaurant chain. We ordered so many dumplings that I truly enjoyed devouring them. I would get my monthly period soon, and I could get easily famished now. After paying our bill, we left the restaurant to hang out somewhere. Layla sneaked us into an excellent minibar to get our drinks. Since Elisha couldn’t drink yet, we ordered orange juice for her. “This is refreshing!” Elisha huffed, drinking her non-alcoholic drink. “I know!” I giggled with my cold glass of wine. I didn’t want to drink much, and a glass or two would be enough. Layla raised her glass of beer and declared, “Cheers, my lovely besties! Thank you for the love and care!” clinking our glasses before we drank. We were having a great time when a sudden creepy feeling lingered around us. I wasn’t sure what it was, but it seemed Elisha also felt it. “You okay?” I asked to check on her. “Yes.” “You look edgy.” “I am.” “Chill, El,” Layla chimed, “I know these people,” she assured us, looking around the small pub. “I know. It has been a while,” Elisha replied before staring back at me. I didn’t want her to worry more, so I kept my cool and calmed down, ignoring the case of nerves I had been having since Erin’s call. “Yes, it's been a while since we hung out like this,” I shrugged, not giving heed to my gut. xx
