L O L A ' S P . O. V I felt heavy press of something ice cold against my forehead. Precipitation forming small droplets of water that gently slopes down the curve of my cheek, alighting whatever small hope of conscience I clung on too. My head tilted to the sighed, trying to escape the inevitable chill. I wanted to sleep forever, hide away from the thrumming pain that was faintly blaring away inside my head. "Lola, Lola." That voice was something strange, electric. I could feel it's softened melody stroking pleasure against the drums of my ear. It would be worth all the pain in the world to hear that voice again. To see it in the flesh. I forced my eyes open, forgetting how harsh the pink and orange hues of twilight could be. "Fuck." I swore, feeling the pounding burn of my head ravage my skull. "Easy." The voice sounded better when I was knocked out. I felt a strong arm wrap around my waist, and slowly draw me up, until I was seated. I tried to speak but all that came out was a croaky sort of cough. A glass of water was quickly thrust into my hands. I greedily gulped it all down, finding my vision slowly coming back to me. Lucien looked gorgeous in any light, but at dusk, as the sun sets to rest for the new day ahead, he was so much more than that, he was sole perfection. Reaching out, he trailed his warm fingers gently over my cheek. I almost purred at the feeling. "That feels nice. So soft," Was the first idiotic thing to leave my mouth. He stared at me, baffled and amused, before bursting out into laughter. I involuntarily smiled. The sound was beautiful. "You've just woken up from having obtained a serious head injury, and that's the first thing you want know?" He reached out to touch my forehead. "You're not running a fever. Are you delirious?" That fact that he was so serious had me cracking up again. He failed to hide his obvious amusement and instead, took my hands in his, bringing them close to his beating heart. "Can you feel that?" I nodded, transfixed by something that should be so normal. His heartbeat was not, instead of the rhythmic ba dum ba dum, that all the rest of us have, his was beating more rapid, almost like it was a heart on steroids. "Holy s**t. How are you not jumping off the walls right now? Or out of breath, or..." "I'm a vampire, a species who naturally have faster beating hearts, but the fact that I'm also a wolf means I need more oxygen, more blood circulation. It helps me prevent becoming drained of energy." "That's...amazing." I found myself entranced by this one of a kind heart that was destined to be mine. He was destined to be mine. With my hands pressed over his heart, I glanced up at him, like I was just seeing him for the first time. Like I understood. "Are you sure you're okay?" I nodded, gently licking my bottom lip. No words could describe how I was feeling, except there was this raw burning passion inside of me that needed to be extinguished. That needed to be sated. I rose up on my knees, and wrapped my arms around his neck, letting my hands trail deep into his thickness of dark hair. Tugging, just a little, it provoked a low growl from his lips. Almost too animalistic in nature. For some reason that just turned my on more. "We shouldn't..." He struggled with his words. "You just woke up, you're injured." "Are you trying to convince me? Or yourself? Because I know what I want, and there's no changing my mind." A harsh laugh rumbled deep within his chest. "Who knew there was a vixen beneath this wolf after all?" Smiling, I let my eyes fall shut, and gave in to my desire for him. Knock! Knock! "Baby, are you up yet?" s**t, my mum. I tried to pull back but Lucien's grip on my waist was unwavering. He was staring down at me with those gleaming red eyes, ones that now shone like rubies, and incited more flames to my burning desire. "Uh yeah, I just need a minute." I stupidly burst out. "Darling, what happened? Lucien carried you in and you were practically passed out...you didn't have s*x did you? Because I know how tiring it can be, especially after the first time". "Mother!" And suddenly those raging flames turned into soft dying embers. "No we did not...have sex." I felt my cheeks burn, but I refused to look at him. "Oh, okay. Well, I'll be downstairs if you need me." I heard her hurried shuffle rush far away from my room. Lucien burst out with laughter, and I swatted his chest. "Don't, it's not funny. It's horrifying". "The thought of sleeping with me is horrifying?" "No of course not. I would love to sleep with you." He grinned devilishly. "Not love, I just mean...I wouldn't not want to...it's definitely not horrifying...it's just..." He chuckled, drawing me in close. "I'm joking." As his hands cupped my cheeks, he pressed a light kiss against my nose. "I will get that kiss one day though." Hopping out of my bed, he grabbed his jacket which lay strewn over the pink chair in the corner. "You're leaving?" "I need to talk to Tripp about taking his mate back to the compound." "Sabine can come back with us?" Hope blossomed inside my chest as he nodded. "I don't see why not. Besides then you'll have someone you're familiar with." Right. Only a few days and I would be leaving the only home I've ever known. "Are you sure we can't stay here just a little longer? Maybe a week or..." "Pretty wolf," I instantly shut up. Was that really my new nickname? "I'm King, I can't leave my people that long." "And I'm your mate so...." Smiling, he kissed the top of my head and smirked. "Nice try Lola, but after this situation with Adam is resolved we will have to leave." I didn't bother arguing. He was right. He was a king, and I couldn't just live at home forever. In the matter of a few days, I would be with my mate, in my new home and everything would be perfect. *** It was the harsh beating of the wind against my shutters that forced me awake. Lightening struck in thunderous rage, causing a bright vibrant flash to illuminate my room. I rolled over, eyes fighting to stay shut. I was so exhausted despite my five hour nap earlier today, so emotionally drained from Adam to the almost kiss between Lucien and I. I shivered as a strong fish of wind hit me, causing my body to ignite into goosebumps. The thunder roared on, and slowly, I sat up to find the shutters slightly creaked open. My curtains blew gently, the translucent white almost floating against the air. Reaching over, I slammed them shut. The loud clang caused me to jump, startling me out of my dazed tiredness. I groaned at the patter of water now soaking my bed sheets and carpet. I couldn't be bothered dealing with it right now. As I turned onto my side, I saw a flash of a shadow. My wolf peeked awake, her instincts coming forward. I felt my ears prick open for anything, anyone, but I heard knowing but the howls of the wind. It was just my imagination. I laid back, keeping my eyes fixed on the place I saw the imaginary shadow. Then I heard it. A whisper, a murmur, a calling. "Lola," It was haunting, and obviously another creation from my absurd imagination. Next, I would seeing a ghost in a white sheet hovering above me. I fixed my eyes shut, and chose to let myself drown in my tiredness. "Lola!" "Fuck..." A heavy hand was clasped over my mouth, a strong body straddled over mine. Adam. I wasn't dreaming now, and this definitely was not my imagination. I could feel the weight of his body crushing mine, feel his nails digging into my skin. "Lola, I need you to stay quiet. Okay?" Nodding, he slowly removed his hand and I sighed in relief, greedily inhaling all the oxygen I could. "I'm sorry I scared you but I know he wouldn't let me alone with you after this morning." "You hit me, Adam. You hurt me, again." "I was just so angry." He seethed out in frustration. His head hung low as his voice quietened into a whisper. "I was just so angry." "I know, but you can't do that anymore. You need to learn to control it, my father can help you." "And why can't you?" He didn't know I was leaving in a few days, and for once, I was truly afraid of what his reaction. "I'm leaving in a few days." A low snarl slipped form his mouth. "With...him?" I nodded quietly, and watched as he slowly became enraged. "But...but you're mine." "No, I'm not." I tried to sit up but he wedged his hands on my hips, pinning me in place. "Adam, let me go." "Have you f****d him?" I gaped at him, transfixed by shock. "Seriously, is that all you care about? Whether or not I've slept with Lucien? Is this because I refused to sleep with you? Because we both decided that we wanted to wait." "No you did." I flinch at the harshness of his tone. "You decided and I was just forced to go along with it, like always. Everything I ever did was for you. You think I didn't want more than a few sloppy blowjobs and to eat you out? Do you think I didn't deserve to be satisfied fully?" "Adam, get off me." "You think I liked being the good boy? Liked walking you home and maintaining my distance? Liked being treated like just a friend with no respect from your father?" I started to wrangle in his grasp, fighting to get free. "Adam I'm serious." "You're just a tease. All these years and nothing, it took me six months to get so much as more as a h*****b from you and now...you're willing to just go to him, legs spread and everything." "f**k you!" I spat. "Stupid bitch." He struck me. Hard. I was blinded by the sheer intensity, the shock and the pain that radiated throughout my face. I heard a sheer ripping sound in the background, a mad fit of maniacal laughter and then something touching me. My thighs, my bare skin, his fingers crawling closer and closer to my p***y. No, I refused to be another statistic. I refused to surrender myself like this. I was a f*****g hybrid, the daughter of an alpha, I would fight to the death. "Lamestos." I murmured, flicking my fingers up. Adam's heavy body suddenly removed itself off me and flew into the wall opposite my bed. He crashed into the framed photo of Sabine and I that I had hanging up and crashed down to the floor. Instantly, I made a run to the door. I yanked it hard. It was locked. I had forgotten I had locked it. Why the f**k did I lock it? He grabbed my leg and embedded his claws into my thighs, dragging them down and tearing apart my skin. I cried out at the pain of my skin being peeled off and rose my right foot, slamming the heel into his nose. I heard the satisfying crunch and then his groans of pain as he clutched at it with both hands. As I reached to unlock the door, it suddenly splintered through the middle and a hand punched through. I saw the familiar glint of Lucien's sliver ring and latched onto his hand. He clutched it right, squeezing it. "Get back pretty wolf." I did as he said, hiding behind my bathroom door. Hearing the rest of the wood breaking, I rushed out and into his arms. A swarm of people ran in as well but I didn't care. All I needed was him. *** L U C A ' S P. O. V She was like fire. Her body melted against me, her skin brushing against mine, causing my body to light up like an inferno. I would be content to die in the flame of her tight embrace. When I first heard the shattering noise of glass breaking apart, I got up immediately. There was just something within my instincts that caused me to run straight to her room. It's like I just knew she needed me. The bond between us had strengthen over the past few hours. We'd grown both close and intimate in our affection and then...this happened. My body shook with visible rage. I wanted to tear that bastard apart, limb from limb. I would do it slowly, taking his ear, a finger or two, I would make him plead for death, beg me for it. I forced away that most grotesque and pleasing image. No matter what, I couldn't. I couldn't show Lola that side of me. She would run, she would hate me, or worse...fear me. Shutting my eyes, I let her sink into my embrace, and pulled her taught against my chest. I didn't want to let go. Ever. "Lola, what happened?" Her father asked with great concern. His voice remained strict and stern as though trying to maintain impartial despite the heavy amount of evidence. Her wall has a crumbling hole in the middle of it, her legs bleeding from heavy claw marks, and pants virtually ripped off. "Isn't it obvious?" I snapped without care. "That bastard tried to r**e her." Lola trembled at the word, causing me to hold her closer. "Is that true Lola?" I expected her to just nod, but instead she pulled away from me slightly and raised her head high. "Yes. He tried to r**e me." Kaiden had less control over his anger and lunged for the bastard immediately. It took three men to pull him away. "Take him to the cells." Lola's mother ordered. I respected the notion of redemption, of confinement but he was a danger to my mate and he tried to...no she deserved justice. "That's it? A slap on the wrist? He's a rapist." "Attempted." Some meek mildly pathetic balding man added. I stared him down with a rising fury. "Please your Majesty, he's my son. He doesn't deserve death." So this was the man who's pathetic specimen produced that bastard? "Lucien," I felt myself being automatically pulled towards my mate. Her ethereal voice soothing my anger, stroking its violent tendencies to peace. "He doesn't deserve death. I believe prison is punishment enough and it's our system." No wonder she was destined to be mine. She had the balls to stand up to me in-front of all these people. Balls that most men didn't posses. I nodded curtly and the guards carried him away, head dropping low and nose dripping blood over the carpet. "I should call Jack and Alex. This is their pack now." Kaiden left with a thunderous stride, and I noticed Sabine and Tripp lingering nervously by the door. I shook my head and gestured for them to go. I knew she wouldn't want company right now. I wouldn't. "Darling," Her mother sung. It was almost scary how much she was alike Lola. "Would like me to stay with you? We can sleep downstairs on the sofa." Instead of responding to her mother, she turned to me. Her cheeks flushed, tears filled to the brink with tears and lips swollen and pouting. "Can I stay with you?" I felt her mother's knowing smile pinned on us both. Slowly, I nodded. Afraid that this was a dream that I would quickly wake up from. Taking my head, she led me out of the room to spend our first night together. Let me tell you something, I wasn't expecting it to end up like this. ________________________________ A/N: What do you think will happen in their first night together? And any theories about Adam?
