L O L A ' S P. O. V
A warm bright feeling washed over me as I lay wrapped amiss a strong embrace. Tingles vibrated all over my skin, my wolf remained dormant peacefully, and I could feel the gently stroking of someone's hands running over my bare arm.
No, no, not again. I quickly shot awake, lurching forward from the right envelope I was trapped in.
"f**k," The gruff masculine voice grunted from behind me. Quickly, I glanced back. The anxiety inside of my chest calmed at the gentle swirls of Lucien's amber irises that seemed to almost glow in the birth of the sun.
It wasn't Adam. I could feel my lungs finally inflating to allow oxygen in.
Lucien reached out to hold my hand and then froze. It hovered mid air as his eyes assessed me warily. After much deliberation he decided to pull back and sighed.
"I'm so sorry. I should have moved when you fell asleep but then you just kept holding onto me and I just shut my eyes for one second I swear..."
"It's fine. I was just in shock. Waking up with a man's arms wrapped around me isn't something I'm very accustomed too."
"I'm glad." His mirthful comment cause both our lips to rise.
"What happened last night? I can't remember much apart from the whisky and Adam, obviously."
The thought of him rotting down in the cells do nothing to appease my fear, my pain. A part of me was angry, and wanted revenge but that wasn't what I needed. It wouldn't help me to move on.
"Well after we left your room, we came back to mine." He frowned. "You seriously don't remember?"
I shoved his chest. "No, I was drunk."
"No-one's fault but yourself..." I watch the storm clouds blur his eyes red. "And that bastard."
"Hey," For some reason they cleared back to their original gleaming orange as I set my hand on his. "Tell me what happened."
"You want to see something cool?" He raised his palms to my face, the rough skin underneath scratching against my cheeks. I stared up at him in curious confusion, watching as the smirk on his lips disappeared, as his eyes turned to a haunting black.
Suddenly it was dark again. The moon hung bright amiss the spatter of speckled stars that were strewn across the black canvas.
I shivered. Not because it was cold, or a heavy hung draft were gusting in, but because I was reliving it. Over and over again, the sick and twisted feeling of him over me, touching me, ripping my clothes to shred was taunting.
"It's okay." His voice acted as a beacon of light in the suffocating plague. "I've got you know, he can't hurt you." Lucien wrapped his solid arms around me, the warmth from his chest warming me instantly.
"How did you throw him off you?" I stilled, remembering the murmured incantation that saved my life. Could I? No, not tonight. Too much had already happened.
"I took him by surprise. I'm quite strong you know."
He chuckled, the vibration rumbling through his chest. "I can tell. You're gripping me like a viper."
"s**t sorry," I pulled away in embarrassment, only for him to tug me back in.
"Don't go. I like holding you. It's calming." I lay my palms flat against his chest. His heart pumped in a steady rhythmic passion.
We stayed that like for a while, until I realised my throat ached without replenishment.
"Do you have anything I can drink?" I needed something to forget, even if it was just for a moment.
"Yeah, I've got loads of water bottles and some apple juice..."
"No, I mean alcohol. I need something strong." I noticed the clear apprehension in his face. "Please, just to feel better."
Slowly, he walked away from me and bent over to unzip his suitcase. Buried at the bottom of the an old expensive looking bottle of whiskey. He had a small glass in his hand to match.
He gave me a stent calculating look. "One drink."
"Three." I countered. "I can handle my alcohol."
Apparently I can't. Three drinks later and I was practically dead, buried underneath a mass of pillows. Lucien had set himself up on the floor, and despite heavy protest from me, he wouldn't take the bed.
I lay there, staring at the white ceiling, and watching the minutes go by on the round antique clock my mother had bought years ago. I thought the alcohol would make me tired, or knock me out. I wanted to seek solace in sleep like I had done before, I needed it.
"Lucien," I murmured into the darkness. His heavy body caused a thud as he rolled over, and knelt up. I saw the flash of dark hair and smiled instantly.
"What is it? Are you hurt?"
"No, no. My leg is healed now, and the alcohol numbs everything, I just can't sleep."
"Oh."
"Could you sleep with me?" Silence followed. "Please, I just need you." It wouldn't be like this with anyone else. With anyone else it wasn't real, or as special or felt as good.
"Of course." A few minutes later I was wrapped in his arms and my eyes were fluttering shut. The world became numb to after, and I finally found peace.
"What the f**k was that?" Lucien's eyes flickered back to their usual orange as he slowly removed his palms.
"My father was the most powerful vampire of all time. My mother a very strong wolf. There is rumours to have been powers passed down through my blood line. My grandfather could manipulate the minds, access memories that people didn't even know were there. I can do the same."
"So you just brought forward the memory, showed me last night?"
He nodded. "Exactly."
Wow. So maybe we weren't that different? Maybe witch was the thing that spiked anger inside of him and not magic? I felt somehow more connected to him now, like there was a thin tether that was tied between us.
"I want to leave." At the vivaciousness of the outburst, he turned back to me with a started awe.
"What?" He murmured, almost as though he didn't believe it to be true.
"I want to leave the pack, today. I'm just prolonging the goodbyes I'll have to make and with Adam...dealt with, it seems best to move on."
"You really want to? You understand what this will mean?"
A smile fluttered across my lips. "I do. I accept you as my mate Lucien, but there's no way we are mating and marking each other yet. It's too soon." And I was not ready to have s*x. The thought of it was both frightening and thrilling.
"I accept you too." I shuffled close towards him, letting his arms envelope me. My eyes closed at the flutter of a kiss pressed against my forehead. "I'm not ready yet either, and besides, we have forever."
A forever with Lucien sounded perfect.

L U C I E N ' S P. O. V
I dressed in a smart white shirt with dark pants that brought out the appealing business side of me. Meeting Lola's parents all happened in such a flash, so now we were all having breakfast downstairs together with Lola's twin brothers and their mate.
She was a witch and that was...fine because I wasn't risking anything when it came to Lola. I couldn't loose her after how close we'd become over these past few days and last night.
Last night just solidified the powerful hold she had over me. I would do anything just to see that goddamn beautiful smile that enlightened her every pore.
Fuck I was turning into one of those sappy bastards and yet I didn't care. I had seen this before, my most fierce warriors turning into complete p*****s around their mates just minutes after slaughtering the enemy.
Tripp was already making fun of me, and I'm sure Vlad will join in once we get back home.
Home. I never thought I would be able to call it that. A pack, of course, a coven, yes, but home? It's never been that until now. I want to take Lola home, to the place we'll raise our children.
Suddenly, life's falling into place and it was everything.
"You look beautiful." I let my eyes r****h my mate. Her slim figured body was fitted into a loose yellow summer dress that fell down to her knees, and her hair was tied back into a ponytail, exposing her perfectly bare neck.
I was almost taunting me. I wanted to mark her so bad, but we promised to wait. f**k, why did I promise to wait?
"Thank you." Her voice was as soft as the petals on a blooming rose. "Shall we go?" I took her hand in my mine, the two interlocking together like perfect pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.
The room was filled with a thick aroma of pancakes and bacon. Two tall broad-chested men stood beside a petite blonde. She was quite radiant, bathing in a sort of supernatural glow, and her hand lay to rest over her stomach.
"Guys, this is my mate, Lucien." The two men turned slowly, their stances radiating an air of authority. For alphas they were strong, but I was the King. It died out almost immediately within my presence, and the two stared at me with strong glares.
"Lucien Rossetti." I held out my hand. The two of them stared at like as though I'd suddenly let sprouted a new thumb. Then reluctantly one of them shook it.
"Alex." He finally cracked a smile.
"Jack." The other spoke gruffly with some sort of eternal reassurance that he would always hate me.
I noticed the way they hovered protectively in-front of their mate. They knew my past with witches, and the present. It was prejudice of me to assume that all witches were the same vile creatures that slaughtered my mother, but for a long time she was the only light I had the darkness that was my life.
Now Lola filled that void and suddenly I wasn't hung up on vengeance or brutality.
"I'm Luca, it's very nice to meet you." Their mate hesitated, her hands wrapped her bump in a protective fashion. Finally, she pushed past her mates and took my hand.
"Skylar." I could sense the good within her soul and unleashed my powers to bore down on parts of her mind. I saw the anger and loss and sadness that she had suffered.
It was more than most, definitely more than she deserved. She was plagued by demons such as I and for that I saw the person she was today. Someone who didn't deserve the death I granted most, but one who gandered my respect instead.
"Luna." I bowed my head in a silent respect. I heard her quiet gasp and the awe that radiated throughout the room.
"Th..ank you." She stuttered, collecting herself. Nodding, I smiled as we seated ourselves at the table. Lola's hand slipped underneath to squeeze my thigh.
The woman didn't know how much she tormented me. I was already fighting an erection and now, I was f****d.
Alex had warmed up to me now, but Jack's eyes were violently pinned on me in a brash manner. His mother scolded him like a child, but he argued back, and suddenly I found myself laughing.
"Something funny?" He snapped. I tamed the beast inside of me. This man was family now.
"I just haven't seen such a family dynamic in a long time. It's refreshing."
"You don't have family back home?" My mate said gently, her voice carrying off with the subtle breeze.
"I do, but not by blood. My parents are gone, and I have no siblings to speak of, but I do have family. In our own sense, and I can't wait for you to meet them."
"I can't wait to meet them either." I caught her eyes straying to my lips. Hers parted to allow her tongue to peek out. Catching a glance of it wetting the curve of her pout, I was forced to adjust myself.
"So, what next for you Kaiden? Planning on travelling?" Most alphas did once their reign was over.
He glanced over at his wife and flashed her a smile. Her lips automatically turned up, eyes alive with the thriving love. I turned to Lola, her gaze was transfixed on her parents, as though she was imagining herself in their position.
I hoped one day we would be.
"After the baby is born we're thinking about going to South America. Maybe Europe as well?"
"It's always been my dream to travel through Europe, just never knew I would be this old." Jade interjected, her contagious laugh followed.
"You're not old darling, we're young and free. We can do anything you want."
"You'll visit me, right?" I noticed how important family was to her.
We shared the same values, our personalities were alike in ways and I found her the most attractive person I've ever laid eyes on. No wonder the moon paired her with me. Our souls were already interlinked from birth.
"Of course we will. You're my youngest baby, I won't ever let go of you."
The conversation flowed like that for the next hour. All of us laughed, the champagne flowed and I found myself establishing a family I never knew I would have.
Alex cleared his throat for a second and stood. "Lola, could I speak to you?" I didn't like the formality of his voice, the tense seeming gaiety
that juxtaposed the slight panic I saw swirling in his eyes.
"Of course." They left together. No-one else seemed fazed, they acted with complete normalcy, but it was Jack who gave it away.
His chill of smile that was sprawled across his face. He was hiding something, and it affected my mate. "What are they discussing?"
Jack flashed me a cocky look, anger burning in his eye. "Nothing." He stated chirpily.
It wasn't nothing and I wasn't giving up that easily.
