Ella's heart was thudding hard in her chest. Even though she had not done anything wrong, the fear she was feeling was out of the charts.
Her mother stood across the dining table in front of her, glaring at her with a scrutinizing gaze. Violet Mars, Ella's mother had already sent Keane back. She knew if he had stayed with Ella, he would have tried to interrupt the way Violet wanted to discipline her daughter.
That son of a b***h was of no use to Violet unless he was planning on marrying Ella. But as seeing as Ella looked and behaved like a loser just like her f*****g runaway father, there was not even a tinies possibility of that happening.
Ella was her pride, and Violet needed to protect that pride even if it meant taking hard majors to control Ella. Ella's father had already left them. There was no chance in hell she was letting Ella disrespect and insult her in the same way her father had.
"Where did the money come from?" Violet asked with clenched teeth.
"Mom," Ella said in a scared voice, her hands were shivering in her lap along with her whole body, "It is just five hundred dollars. It is the money th.. that I got from freelancing work. They.."
"Shut the f**k up, you w***e!" Violet screamed angrily at her, "You can not even wash your own cunt by yourself and you are saying that you are working? Are you f*****g with me? Tell me whom did you f**k to get it? Did you steal it from my purse?"
Tears made their way from Ella's eyes. The insulting words out of her own mother's mouth were intolerable to her. But she was scared to get up, and run.
She was telling the absolute truth, but she knew her mother was not going to believe a word that she says. "I.. I'm not lying, mom. I swear." She whispered.
Violet grabbed the bowl that was on the table, and threw it in the direction of Ella's face. Ella tried to duck, but the blow was sudden and quick and it hit her straight on her mouth.
She moaned aloud in pain. A trickle of blood made its way on the side of her mouth as she tried to control the sob that was trying to escape her mouth.
Violet grabbed the small purse that Ella had forgotten at home, and emptied it on the table. A lip gloss, a few dollars, a mobile phone and bank passbook slipped out in front of them. She picked it up and checked the amount.
"Show me whom are you working for. You must have some proof, won't you?"
Ella nodded her head in approval silently. She picked up the phone, scrolled through it, and showed Violet the messages that were exchanged between her client and her for designing their website. Violet read them and threw the phone down on the table.
"Honey," Violet's voice turned saccharine sweet as she started saying while walking around the table to get to Ella, "If you were working, then you should have told me. Why did not you tell me? All of this would never have happened if you had told me about all this. It is not like I am going to take your money or anything."
Ella did not reply. She knew her mother too well. She knew the t*****e was not over yet. Violet had always refused to give her any money except for her school fee and bus fare.
Ella did not have any other option than to earn on her own to keep some money on her in case of emergency. But that was all gone now.
"Go ready the dinner now. I am hungry." Violet said as she got seated in a chair and turned on the TV.
Ella stood up on her shaky legs and started to put all her stuff that was sprawled on the table to take with her. Just as she touched the bank passbook, it was snatched from her hands.
"What are you going to do with it, honey?" Violet asked with a sweet smile, "I give you all the expenses necessary, and I work a night shift in the hospital to do that. You are too young to carry this much money on you. Go, ready the dinner now, and withdraw all the money that you have in this account of yours tomorrow. I want it in my hands till tomorrow night. Okay, honey?"
"But I.. need this money." She muttered softly. Still terrified.
Violet's grip on the TV remote tightened in anger at her words, "Do you want me to get angry, honey?"
Ella could not lift her face up to look at her mother. She shook her head and quickly scurried off towards the kitchen to ready the dinner, and to calm the pounding in her heart that was full of terror. At least it did not get much worse today.

Christian gripped the steering wheel in his hands. He had asked for every little f*****g detail from his investigators about Ella and Keane.
Why such a big thing as Ella being an a***e victim had stayed hidden from him was something that he needed to ask his investigators with his hands around their throat.
But his plan was made. There was no way in hell he was going to change a thing about it. Although Ella had just fallen into a complete different category that he had planned on treating her with, she still needed to endure what he had planned to do. He needed to get Ava in his life back, no matter who gets sacrificed.
There was no situation with Keane like that, he knew. As Keane came from a rich family whose members did not give a f**k about what Keane did or how he lived. He was given a lavish life without any love and care.
On the other hand Ella had a life as worse as it can get, even with a blood relative as close as a mother.
