Simone POV
If I had known sooner, I wouldn’t even bother to give him a chance. If I could meet the moon goddess now, I would surely get mad at her to let another woman become his mate. And why did father have to choose him among other men? I groaned in frustration and wiped my tears away from my face. It was very unlike me to become this weak because of man. Due to my speed, I was able to get back to my pack in a short amount of time. As soon as I got back, I saw dad is walking by in the garden, admiring the beautiful scenery of our house. Sure the gardener had done pretty impressive work on making my garden looked even more beautiful than it already is.
“Simone?” He uttered in a confused tone as he saw me inching closer to him. I hugged him tightly, pulling some time to wipe the sad face away from my face. “What happened to you? Are you going back by yourself? Where is Marcus?” Even though I hadn’t seen his face, I could tell that he was not very happy to see me coming back by myself. “Dad, I think we should call off the wedding,” I said, faking a smile on my face. He pulled away from my hug and looked me in the face. “But why, Simone? You seemed very happy with the engagement.” Dad said, sounded even more confused by my sudden decision. I looked away from him, “I still haven’t finished school yet. I’m not ready to be a wife right now, Dad.” I try to reason with him.
“But you can still continue your school even after you’re married, Simone. I believe Marcus could understand.” My dad still tried to convinced me. I wonder what makes him like Marcus that much. “No, dad. How if I got pregnant? I wouldn’t be able to continue my study. I want to make you proud.” I added. He let out a deep breath. “I think you’re hiding something from me, Simone. If you’re not going to tell me, then I will ask Marcus myself.” Dad said, threatening me. I left my angered dad and entered my room. I just hope Marcus never appeared in front of me ever again.
Marcus POV
I went back into my room only to find my bed empty. Where is Simone? I tried to call her, but she never answered. I asked the guards on the front door, they said that she just left an hour ago. Women are complicated. I tried to be nice to her, but she ran away without even bother to give me some explanation. Somebody knocked on my door. “Come in!” I growled. Then I saw my beta behind the door. “Noah, if it’s about the pack. Can we discuss it tomorrow? I’m really not in the mood.” I said as I saw him entered the room.
Being my beta, he was used to my bad temper. But he knows at this moment, I could really use some company. “Would you like to have a drink?” He said as he put a whiskey bottle in front of me. Actually, that might sound like a good idea. How come he knew me that well? I chuckled, and then he pours some into my glass. “Is it about that girl?” He asked, breaking the silence between us. “She left, Noah…And she was wrong if she thinks that she could escape from me that easily.” Noah looked at me with a knowing look. “I think I know why she left.” He said as he gulped the whiskey from his glass and leaving it empty.
I instantly straighten up from my chair, “What do you mean, Noah?” I asked him. Did I just miss something here? “She saw you with Charlotte earlier.” I was such a fool. Of course, it was because of Charlotte. How could I not know?
“I’m going to her pack right now! She must’ve had some misunderstanding.” I said as I got up from my chair, but Noah holds me from going. “Marcus, wait!” he said. I furrowed my eyebrow, “You might be strong, but you don’t know anything about a woman.” Noah said, frustrated. I can see that he was half amused. This must be the first time he saw me falling over a woman. “Aren’t you going to help me right now? The last thing I need right now is to be teased.” I flared up.
He released his hand from me. “Woman don’t like to be forced, Marcus.” He continued after he cleared out his throat, hiding his fear upon my anger. I found his words funny, I never forced a woman before. I was the Alpha. Every woman would kill to be with me. But I decided to give him a chance to explained himself.
“So what are you suggesting?” I asked him in a challenging tone. “I suggest you keep her close to you and win her heart all over again.” He said with a smirk. It didn’t sound hard, but I need more guidance. “Noah, I couldn’t possibly go to her pack every day just to seduce her,” I stated irritably as I turned around facing him again. Noah let out a desperate sighed. “No, that would be very obvious. You need to be a mysterious man for her. Give her only a little hint and leaving her curious.” Is he speaking English right now? How come I couldn’t understand a single word he said? I started to lose my patience with him.
“Just cut to the case, Noah! What should I do?” I replied impatiently at him. “I don’t know…Maybe for a start, you can move into the same school with her,” Noah suggested as he swirls the whiskey in his glass, pretending that it was wine instead of whiskey. “But it was hard to move to another school in the middle of the semester. Noah.” I said, stating the fact. “Simone’s dad had a big influence on that school. I think you could manage to move in if you asked for his favor.” He then told me. I suddenly felt like I wanted to hug him. It was a brilliant idea. “Since when do you become so smart?” I lightly elbowed his stomach. He chuckled. We both clinking our glass, celebrating our new strategy. Just wait, Simone! I’ll definitely make you fall for me.
