Marcus POV
I walked with Simone in my garden, holding each other’s hand. After that incident, I felt like we were getting closer to each other. “Are you sure you don’t want me to take you back?” I asked her. The truth is, I don’t want her to leave just yet. She suddenly halted, “You’re still in recovery. I want you to stay here and have a rest tonight. My brothers will come here and pick me up.” She told me in an assuring tone.
I pulled her into my hug. I love her smell, it brings a certain comfort to my heart. She circled her hands on my waist, hugging me back. We both stayed that way for a while until we heard someone cleared his throat. As I pulled back from her, I saw her brothers – Oliver and Ethan walked towards us. “Sorry to ruin your romantic moment. But Alpha Alex told us to get her back.” Ethan said teasingly at me.
I saw Simone rolled back her eyes at her brother, and I had to restrain my laughter. They must’ve bullied her a lot in her house, it was pretty entertaining to watch, actually. No matter how tough she was outside, her brother still managed to get on her nerves. “Take care…” I said after giving her a light peck on her cheek. She nodded. “You go back there and rest.” She smiled at me before finally hopped into the car.
I stood in front of the giant mirror in my bedroom. I took off my shirt, so I was only wearing sweat pants at the bottom. I put my hands on my right chest when I got shot by the silver bullet. I took off the bandage slowly, and it was completely healed right now. It’s only been five hours since I woke up. Now it's completely gone like I never got shot this evening. It must be because of her blood. Sha saved me this time.
I turned around as I smelled her scent. My bedroom door was slightly opened, but she suddenly closed it when she realized that I can felt her presence. “Charlotte, I know you’re there,” I said. After a moment, she finally opened the door and got in with a lowered eyes.
“I just wanted to check on you. It's good that you’re okay now,” she said nervously. She was scared of me. I walked towards her and stopped until she can saw my feet in front of her. I could hear her wild heartbeat. I stood there without uttering a single word. After a while, she turned away from me.
“Thank you for saving me earlier…” I said abruptly, which causing her to stop. She turned around, facing me with a glint of hope in her eyes. “Marcus, I would do that a thousand more times for you.” She said sincerely. I look at my mate in front of me. Why can’t I accept her? It would be easier if she was as fierce as Simone, but she’s not even half of it.
I clenched my fist, “I love you, Marcus. And I hope you can accept me as your mate.” She took my hands. Her touch managed to sent shivers down to my spine, but I don’t like how it feels. It makes me feel weak every time I was in front of her, while with Simone, she makes me want to become the best version of myself.
I swatted her hands and turned around, giving her the cold shoulder. “You were wrong if you think this could change anything between us. Now, go away! I need to rest.” I said coldly. She sobbed and slammed the door hard behind her.
Simone POV
“How is Marcus?” Dad asked me in a concerned tone after I’ve got back home. Last night I called him and told my dad what just happened in Marcus’s pack. “He’s fine now, Dad. No need to worry about him.” I replied. “That’s why I’ve kept telling you to get married, Simone. Now you see why.” He then said as we had our lunch together.
I let out a defeated sigh. “Yes, they were outnumbered yesterday when it happened,” I explained. “I think after you’re both married, we should merge our pack together.” He suddenly suggested. Uniting two packs together is not an easy thing to do. But then I realized maybe it was one of his ways to keep me close to him.
“I think you should discuss this with Alpha Logan first, Dad. We don’t want to offend him.” I replied, not showing any objection to his idea. He put two fingers on his chin, thinking. “I suppose you were right. I want you to come with me tomorrow to their pack.” Dad stated, cutting another piece of meat from his plate.
*************************
Marcus was in the middle of training with Noah when we've arrived there. I can’t believe that he directly went into such a strenuous activity after getting shot just yesterday. They were fighting with each other as if their life depends on it. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. His movement was still as quick and strong as I remembered him to be. I found myself holding my breath as he walked towards us with that smoking hot body full of sweat.
“Pleasure to have you here, Alpha Alex,” Marcus said towards my dad, welcoming us. He then smiled as he saw me. “How are you feeling? I hope we don’t disturb your rest.” Dad said, looking worried at him.
“That would be impossible, Alpha Alex. As you can see, I was fully healed right now. Please come inside.” He then led us both into his big mansion.
Alpha Logan was sitting on his bed when we came in. He still looked a little bit pale, but his condition had definitely improved compared to yesterday. “Alex, you came?” His face instantly lits up as he saw us coming. “I was worried about you. I heard about the attack.” Dad said, sitting on the sofa beside his bed.
“Yes, we didn’t saw that one coming. I think they already planned this attack for a long time. They must’ve known we didn’t do the patrol yesterday.” Alpha Logan said, guessing the possibilities. “Did you happen to know who might do that to this pack?” Dad asked back. He shrugged his shoulder, “I can’t be so sure. We’re still looked into it. The bullet that they used was a little bit different. They were one of a kind.” He said, pointing towards the silver bullet on top of the tray.
My dad cleared his throat, “Logan…My purpose of coming here is to discuss the marriage.” Dad directly said. “Uh yes, I believe this small matter wouldn’t affect the wedding.” He replied, smiling at us. Logan looked at Marcus and me with a meaningful look, I looked down from his eyes. Damn, Why am I being nervous right now? Marcus took my right hand, suppressing the nerve.
“I propose to merge our pack together after they’re married, Logan.” My dad uttered his purpose of coming here. Alpha Logan looked doubtful for a moment, his silence is killing me. But after a while, he finally smiled again, “Marcus would be the next king after he got married. So, it’s up for him to decide.” Marcus looked taken aback by his statement. My dad turned his head towards us, “What do you think, Marcus?” dad asked.
He squeezed my hand, “I think it was a good idea. The larger the pack, the harder for them to attack us.” Marcus said. Alpha Logan and dad looked satisfied with his answer, I guessed it was settled then.
