A Rematch So Soon?

Kazmiyah’s mind was in a constant whirlwind after her visit with Falcon and her talk with Aurora. She knew that so many things could go wrong and that there was nothing that she could do about it. Sure, she was probably the most powerful person roaming the earth for the time being, but being ignorant of the ways in which to use those abilities was just as bad as not having them at all. In light of things, she had decided that she would get her mind off of things by going to talk to and check on Mrs. Linda. Initially, Kazmiyah wanted to talk to Aurora-see what was going to happen and or what she could do at this point to assist. Aurora responded by insisting that the only thing that Kazmiyah could do at this point was to allow Aurora the time to center herself and concentrate on the ordeal to come. Under normal circumstances, Aurora knew very well how to use her sorcery and knew that she could succeed under normal circumstances. However, with her having recently died as well, Aurora noticed that she was a little out of whack herself. Aurora needed all of the time she could spare to keep herself centered. Kazmiyah felt that she should have been concerned but some part of her knew that she could trust that Aurora would be able to succeed. The young sorceress carried an air of confidence and power about her that forced people to almost effortlessly trust in her. Kazmiyah knew that Falcon was in capable hands. So, instead of worrying, she decided to go in and check on Mrs. Linda for a little bit. She couldn’t stay too long as the day was nearing its end. “Alright, Mrs. Linda,” Kazmiyah said. “I should probably go..” Mrs. Linda sighed. “Okay.” She replied. "I am just...so elated to see you again, Kaz." She smiled and embraced her tightly. They both stood up from where they sat. Kazmiyah could sense her reluctance, however, when she said when they pulled away and said their goodbyes. Something was bothering her, and she’d been sensing it since they sat down to talk. “Is everything alright, Mrs. Linda?” Kazmiyah suddenly asked. Mrs. Linda smirked. “It’s funny. I was about to ask you the same thing, Kazmiyah.” She said. Now curious, Kazmiyah slid the chair under the table and walked over to Mrs. Linda. “What do you mean?” She asked. Mrs. Linda gave Kazmiyah a knowing look before going into the kitchen with a few dishes and returning back out. “I know that the Alpha is here.” She said. “Huh? My dad isn’t-” “Not that Alpha, Kazmiyah.” She said. “The Navarre Alpha.” She clarified. “And...that he is your mate.” She added. Kazmiyah sighed. “Yeah.” She finally confessed after a few moments of reluctant silence. “I know that he is hurt-fighting for his life and I also know that his mate-your sister is standing outside of the town border waiting, for word of his well-being.” Just the mention of Alora’s name stuck in Kazmiyah’s craw. She could feel her mind flashing in and out of anger as she thought about what she wanted to do with her. “Calm yourself, Kazmiyah,” Linda said. “The girl isn’t here and, as far as I can see, you have dominion over everything that she does where this town is concerned.” “Yeah,” Kazmiyah said. “And as nice as that seems to me….I somehow, feel that you have a problem with that.” She guessed. Mrs. Linda didn’t say anything at first. She had begun fiddling around with a few of the wall accents and began dusting a little when Kazmiyah’s patience wore thin. “Mrs. Linda.” She touched her shoulder, causing her to stop what she was doing. Kazmiyah watched her drop her head for a moment before she turned around and faced the girl that she’d had a hand in raising. “Do you really think that it is right to leave Falcon’s chosen mate outside of the borders while he is here suffering?” “I am his true mate, Mrs. Linda!” Kazmiyah countered offensively. “Well, I didn’t ask that, sweetheart.” She said. “You may be his true mate but until he chooses you, she is his chosen. And she has every right to be there when whatever happens happens.” “No!” Kazmiyah snapped. “No, she doesn’t!” She snarled. “She tried to bargain for his life with information that would keep her within the walls of Crescent! In what world would that- or should that be okay?!” She defended. “What mate would do that to someone that she loves?!?” “Do you...love him?” Mrs. Linda asked. “I-wh-” Kazmiyah had been so keen on combating Mrs. Linda with a question without hesitation that she couldn’t think straight enough to put into words how she felt before she started talking. “Do you?” The older woman asked again. In truth, Kazmiyah never even thought about that question. How could she love someone who was so hell-bent on keeping the person that had done her wrong the most, aside from her grandfather, safe? She shrugged, her indigo eyes averting away from Mrs. Linda and her question to the floor. “I don’t know.” She finally answered. “Then why did you risk your life to save his?” “Because I had to-” Kazmiyah said. “There’s only one Navarre Alpha-one Alpha at all...left in existence and two Moon Goddesses-three including me.” She said. “As far as I was concerned, my death would have been a better service than not keeping him alive.” Mrs. Linda raised her brow. “Is that right?” She said. “Yes!” Kazmiyah was tired of the third-degree. “So….it had nothing to do with the fact that you cared about him? That you were developing feelings for the Navarre Alpha?” “I-” Kazmiyah sighed and shook her head. Something in her was reluctant to admit to such a thing and she knew why. “I care...of course-of course I care about the whole...situation.” She said. She was entirely too stubborn that she cared about Falcon Alvaro. “Okay.” Mrs. Linda replied with a small smile as she seemed to realize that she wasn’t going to get much more out of the situation. “Well, since you only care about the situation and not the Lycan Alpha himself, shouldn’t there be someone who actually cares about him in that room with him?” She asked. “There are people that care in that room,” Kazmiyah insisted. “His Beta as well as his Delta, I'm sure.” She smirked as she thought about how annoyed he was the last couple of days of having to babysit, whom he referred to as a winy Alora. Mrs. Linda seemed to see the amusement in Kazmiyah’s eyes and shook her head. “You...definitely have changed, Kazmiyah.” She pointed out. The smile disappeared from Kazmiyah’s face as she noticed the disappointment that she sensed within Mrs. Linda. She shrugged. “Not really.” Mrs. Linda leaned against the counter of the table. “The old Kazmiyah-my little Kazmiyah would have thought about more than just her feelings on the matter.” She said. “She would have thought about how her father would feel about seeing his daughter standing outside of the town line worrying about the man that she loved and being unable to see him.” The tears began to sting Kazmiyah’s eyes as she realized what Mrs. Linda was saying. How could she? How could she take Alora's side after all she had done? “Does-does it not matter how I feel?” Kazmiyah asked. She scoffed. “I-I have-my whole life I have thought about everyone else’s convenience...and never-never my own!” She turned around. “I stayed in a room...away from civilization just to appease her! I branded myself! Just so that I could be around a family that-” The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. So angry, Kazmiyah became, that she couldn’t even finish her sentence. “Ugh!” She snapped, the bed and breakfast beginning to shake. She turned around and glared at Mrs. Linda. “I was his daughter too!” She snapped. “I am his daughter too! That wretch killed me! She killed me just to appease her own convenience!” Mrs. Linda became uneasy as she felt the house trembling beneath her feet. She became afraid and immediately tried to calm her down. "K-Kazmiyah." “Crescenda practically disowned me over something that I had no control over! And still, I tried to be...understanding and unproblematic.” Kazmiyah began to have an anxiety attack. She began to lose control. “I’ve done everything-everything I could so that I could fit in-so that they would love me! So that I would be accepted!” She snapped. “And nothing was ever good enough!” She shook her head. “And now! Even now! After all that I’ve been through! Everyone only cares about what is right for Alora Crescent! The darling of Crescent Falls!” “Oh Kazmiyah.” Mrs. Linda cooed in an attempt to soothe her. “Don’t!” Kazmiyah snapped pushing her hand out to block Mrs. Linda from getting any closer. “Don’t! Just stay away!” “Kazmiyah!” Mrs. Linda exclaimed as she saw her eyes flashover. “Kazmiyah, calm down!” Mrs. Linda begged. “Please!” She continued as part of the ceiling and plaster began to fall to the floor, pictures shattering and crashing. “I died twice! I lost my mother! She sacrificed herself. And what did we get for our trouble?” Her voice became dual as her anger began to take over. “Kazmiyah, please!” Mrs. Linda begged. “Please snap out of it, sweetie!” “What’s going on down here-Kazmiyah?” When Kazmiyah heard her name being called, her gaze switched over to Aurora standing there near the stairs, staring at her. She guarded herself immediately. It was as if her mind was not completely present but cognizant enough to know that Aurora would try and prevent her from releasing her anger. “Stay out of this!” Kazmiyah growled. Aurora sighed, realizing that this was going to be a little harder than the last time. “I would, darling-really, I normally would, except I like this lady and her place. And….well, I live here.” She said. Kazmiyah screamed in anger, completely lost in herself at this point. “I said, stay out of this!” She waved her hand and yanked Aurora from where she stood, putting her through the wall of the bed and breakfast and out into the street. Aurora's body ricocheted off of the ground, a bone now protruding through her skin. Now, she was frustrated. Kazmiyah walked out of the now nearly dilapidated Inn and turned to face it. Aurora watched her outstretch her hands and then gradually bring them in as if she were crumbling up a large piece of paper. And as she did, she realized that the building was molding to it. And Mrs. Linda was still inside. “Kazmiyah, no!” Aurora screamed, then spoke to her counterpart. “Sol, I think I’m going to need your help on this one.” “Thought you’d never ask.” Aurora’s eyes dilated as she fully tapped into her beastly counterpart’s power and used it to align herself as closely with Kazmiyah’s power as possible. When she was locked on, she used the amplified telekinesis that Kazmiyah was using against the Inn and pulled her away from the bed and breakfast, throwing her into a nearby building. “Sorry.” Aurora apologized as she saw the damage done to the next building. As she witnessed Kazmiyah surfacing from the building, she readied herself for a fight. “Alright, didn’t think the rematch would happen so soon.” She said. She could feel the anger emanating from Kazmiyah. She knew that this was not going to be pretty. The shield that Kazmiyah had placed around herself to protect her from Aurora using her power to calm her had gradually disintegrated, a grin on her face now. “Didn’t think a rematch would be happening so soon.” Aurora scoffed. “Took the words right out of my mouth, goddess.” She said. “Though, I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that this won’t be a fair fight.” She said. Kazmiyah walked towards Aurora, the amusement apparent. “You’re the one that assumed that you could take me.” Aurora scoffed. “What makes you think that I was talking about you beating me?” She said. “Guess, we’ll see about that.” She rushed Aurora and attacked her, knocking her so far back, that she was forced against the town line. Before Aurora could fall, she was prepared this time to catch herself. Her body gracefully landed, she crouched and counterattacked Kazmiyah, but Kazmiyah was prepared and the colliding of their fists alone sent a sonic wave across the area, shattering nearby windows. Then they began to combat, hand to hand. Kazmiyah was faster than Aurora had anticipated but she had one thing over Kazimiyah-control and nearly two centuries of skill at having to defend herself. When Kazmiyah swung at her, Aurora countered with a duck and leg swept Kazmiyah, knocking her off her feet, but before Kazmiyah could succumb to the ground, Aurora stood so fast, it could barely be seen, and telekinetically pushed Kazmiyah back, her body bouncing off of the ground, cratering it before she slid back, her clothing leaving a skidded path to her body. Aurora knew that she had to catch Kazmiyah before she got up. She rushed to her again but before Aurora could get to her, Kazmiyah had disappeared and was suddenly in front of her, her hand to her throat and her eyes wide. Aurora could feel her grip tightening around her and if she didn’t stop her, she’d surely die. Kazmiyah's sanity was no longer present. Now, Aurora was fighting pure rage and there would be no conscious decision to stop where that was involved. “Rora!” She heard her name being called. She looked past Kazmiyah to see Godfrey and Rojer standing there. They both started for her but she counteracted Kazmiyah before they could get any further. She twisted, using a push of telekinesis to knock Kazmiyah’s arm away. Kazmiyah held her broken arm, waiting for it to heal as Aurora magnified the telekinesis again and boot-kicked her in the chest. Kazmiyah’s body was thrown past Godfrey and Rojer. Aurora walked past them. “Stay out of this, boys.” She told them calmly. The power that she had used was enough for her to incapacitate Kazmiyah for only a few seconds at the most. She rushed to her and straddled her, grabbing her temples. “Vrať se do reality!” She quickly recited just as Kazmiyah knocked her away and into Rojer. The incantation seemed to have so much damage to repair to Kazmiyah, that a clear wave exploded from her as she lay there. Aurora turned over don't top Roj and smiled. “Hi, there.” She then stood and winked before rushing over to Kazmiyah. “Aurora!” Godfrey called after her. “I’m fine.” She returned as she knelt down next to Kazmiyah, whose gaze was aglow and spaced out. “Kaz!” She called to her. She snapped her fingers. “Wake up!” She popped the side of her face to bring her back to currents. Kazmiyah’s gaze returned to its exuberant cerulean blue. She then stared blankly at Aurora, her head pounding. She held her forehead. “Auro-Aurora, what happened?” “One helluva fight, darling,” Aurora answered as she helped her up. “And a lot of damage.” She pointed out as she looked around. “Kaz!” Roj rushed to her and checked her closely. “Are-are you alright?” Godfrey rushed as well. “You hurt?” “I-I’m fine! What happened?” Kazmiyah asked again. Aurora was reluctant to answer her question, knowing that she would not like it. Still, she needed to know what happened. She needed to know the extent to which this lack of control was rooted. Maybe it would cause her to be more careful the next time she lost her mind. “You tried to kill Mrs. Linda, Kazmiyah.” “What?!” Kazmiyah pulled away from Rojer and Godfrey and looked at Aurora incredulously. “That’s a lie-that’s-that can’t be true!” “Well, you’d better believe it, sweetie.” Aurora calmly replied, she pointed to the nearly dismantled bed and breakfast before continuing. “And if that wasn’t enough-you tried to destroy her establishment, as you can see. With her in it, of course. I guess you were trying to kill two birds and all that?” “Aurora,” Godfrey hissed. “Maybe don’t make things worse-” “Yeah.” Rojer agreed. “Or maybe stop coddling the girl!” Aurora bit back. “That’s all of your problems!” Aurora looked at Kazmiyah and then back at her two bodyguards. “She needs to learn control!” She hissed. “I’m sure that’s easy for you to say considering you’ve never died before-” “She actually has,” Godfrey defended. Then he turned his gaze to Aurora. “But not twice.” And in the same breath, attempted to defend Kazmiyah. Aurora shook her head. “You think that’s an excuse not to get it together?” She asked. “If she’d killed Mrs. Linda, then what would you have done?” Kazmiyah, at this point, had shrunken into herself. “You don’t know her!” Rojer hissed. “Or what she has gone through. So you have no right to judge her.” Roj walked past her and helped Kazmiyah up. Godfrey approached Aurora, seeming frustrated with her, himself. “Aurora, sometimes….sometimes you should just keep things to yourself.” He walked past her as well to help Kazmiyah. Aurora looked at Kazmiyah. “You know I’m right.” Kazmiyah could barely look at her. “Don’t let your grandfather be right, Kazmiyah,” Aurora told her. “If you can’t control yourself-if you can’t control that power….you are no good to anyone alive.” She said and walked away. “Wait!” Roj called after her. “What about the transfusion?! We have to-” Aurora turned around and looked at him incredulously. “I can’t stop a goddess and perform a magical transfusion on the same day, darling.” She spat. “I doubt you probably could have accomplished the former alone.” Aurora gritted her teeth and stalked off. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to try and salvage what’s left of my temporary abode and check on Mrs. Linda.” “I’ll-go with you!” Kazmiyah tried to follow Aurora, her guilt over what she had done to Mrs. Linda eating at her. “ “No,” Aurora said. “You’ve done enough for one day. Just...just get some rest, Kazmiyah.” She kept walking. “But Aurora, I-” Aurora turned around. “I know you didn’t mean it, Kaz, but you didn’t just place Mrs. Linda at risk. Magdalyn was in there too and if-if she had gotten hurt.” She shuddered to think of the true hell they would have more than likely unleashed on the town of Crescent. She may have died but Kazmiyah would have definitely had to live with the scars of their battle. She shook her head. “Just give Mrs. Linda some time.” She said. “And get some rest.” Regardless, of what Kazmiyah had done, however, Aurora was sincere in being adamant that Kazmiyah take care of herself. Kazmiyah watched her walk away. “She’s-she’s right.” She confessed through broken words. “Kazmiyah, I doubt she’s been through half of what you’ve been through,” Rojer attempted to comfort her. “So-” “Roj, she’s been through just as much as I-” “Okay, but I do not care!” Roj said. “I don’t care! My concern isn’t her but you.” He said. “You’ve been through a lot, Kazmiyah and everyone handles their trauma differently. She has no right to judge you for that.” “I don’t think she was judging, Kazmiyah,” Godfrey defended Aurora. “She was making a point.” He said. “I'm sure...that it could have had a better delivery, but I don’t think she was completely wrong-” “Oh, so you’re taking up for the new piece of meat that you-” “No, but obviously you didn’t witness what I did!” Godfrey hissed. “She stopped Kazmiyah from making a big mistake-risked her well-being to keep everyone safe! With Kazmiyah being who she is, how much more do you think Aurora's body cane take in protecting this town? Not to mention the fact that she is the one that is going to keep your Alpha from death! She doesn’t owe you anything! She doesn’t owe any of us anything-Kazzy, included.” Godfrey pointed out. “So how about you show a little more respect for her and what she’s going through? Because she has gone through quite a bit, Beta.” Godfrey said. “But of course, you wouldn’t know that...because you don’t know her.” Roj growled. “Enough.” Kazmiyah intervened. “He’s right.” She said. “Godfrey is right, Roj.” “Kaz,” Roj said. “I don’t like the way she talked to you-” “I understand that, Roj, but...the reason that I am so angry and resentful-part of it-is because everyone handled Alora with kid-gloves. How hypocritical would it be of me if I expected the same?” Roj sighed, realizing that she had a point. “Whatever you say, Luna.” He smirked with a wink. He then chanced a passing glare over to Godfrey. “Well, I’m going to head to the hospital to check in on Falcon and-” “No,” Godfrey said. “No, you’re not.” “Excuse-why not?” Kazmiyah countered. “Because you heard Aurora. You need to rest.” Godfrey replied. “It actually wouldn’t be a bad idea if you checked into the hospital.” “Why would I do that?” Kazmiyah asked. “It’s just a headache.” “Kaz, you blacked out and almost destroyed the town,” Godfrey said. “You should really get checked out. It might be an underlying issue of the mind that’s causing this. You don’t want the blackouts to get worse.” Kazmiyah stood there, reluctant of such a suggestion. “I don’t know-” “I hate to admit that I kind of agree with the red-eyed devil on this one, kid,” Rojer said. “This isn’t normal and you should be looked at.” “I’m not going to a hospital.” Kazmiyah insisted. “Well then, at least allow my father to look at you,” Godfrey insisted, still annoyed at the insult that Rojer, in a bitter moment, threw at him. She couldn’t argue that it wasn’t a good idea to be seen by the elder Varick, so she didn’t. “Fine-I guess that’s fine-” “Kaz!?” The conversation was cut short by the sound of the booming Alpha voice that cut through the subject at hand. Kazmiyah looked past Godfrey and Roj to see, not one but quite a few of the Crescent pack standing there behind them, Bazni included. And they were not happy. “Uh, hi...dad.”
