Darkness and a ringing sound was the only thing taking over his mind, his eyes and his ears. There was just nothingness and while his conscience was only slightly awake, he could only feel the imminent and eventual succumbing of death.
The pain that invaded his being was excruciating but he could only suffer in silence as his body and mind were paralyzed against it.
What he wouldn’t give to just see one more place-one more person-or even just to talk to his beast. He couldn’t even do that. Nox was going through a form of suffering separate from his own. In times like this, he was acutely aware of how singularly their thoughts were-and even their souls at times. But even in them being two separate entities in a sense, they always felt lost without one another. The feeling was almost if not as bad as losing a true mate.
Falcon wanted to call to Nox but he didn’t have the voice to even speak the words needed to do so. His mind was steadily weakening and he was beginning to give up altogether.
“Hey there, stranger.”
The sound of her voice surprised him. What was even more shocking than that, however, was the idea that he could feel his eyelids and the strength behind them to open.
When he opened them, he was further surprised to see the familiar setting. The setting in which they first met.
It was the library. He reluctantly turned around and saw her standing there. She had on the all-white leggings and shirt that she was wearing the night that she was saved by him and Rojer. Except, Roj wasn’t there. Should he have been? If it was a memory, he should have.
“Stop asking yourself questions that you cannot answer.” She said.
“Can-can you answer them?” He requested with hope. She shook her head no.
“I’m not really sure how any of this works if I’m being honest.” She replied. “But I assume that since he is not here then he is not who you want to see.” She pointed out.
“What? Why would you think that?”
“He is not here.” She said again. “This mind space is what you want it to be.” She told Falcon. "This place was your choice-this…” she looked down at what she was wearing and scoffed. “This outfit was your choice. This is your memory that you’re living in.” She informed him. “But I take it the longer hair and the scruffy facial hair is just your new norm.” She teased her hand teasing around the new look gently before she pulled away and backed up.
Falcon looked around the area and touched some of the objects surrounding him to see if they were actually tangible. They felt as real as if he were standing in the library of Crescent High in real life.
“So, you’re saying….I did this?” He asked her. When she didn’t answer right away, he looked at her, becoming mesmerized at how perfect she was in the white outfit that she wore. It was hard to take his mind and his eyes off of her and that was why he was trying hard to focus on other things-less important things.
“This is what’s in your mind.” She answered him as she began to approach Falcon again. “If that’s what you mean.”
Kazmiyah stood in front of him and just stared at him in silence. Falcon could see the concern in her eyes. She was acutely aware, it seemed, that he was in a terribly bad place; naturally, it was a dream yet he could feel her concern. It reminded him of the dream he had before he’d succumb to whatever it was that that despicable vampire did to him. Was Falcon's desire to be with Kazmiyah so strong that he created those feelings that he felt from her in his dream-state?
Unfortunately, the notion wasn't out of the question as Falcon knew that he hadn't even been close to unlocking the full extent of the newfound powers that he'd garnered from being under Christoph's control.
The cool feel of Kazmiyah's hand against Falcon's skin brought him out of his reminiscing thoughts. Always cool, your hands are, he thought to himself.
“Maybe it’s a cooling defect.” She teased. “Or maybe, it’s from a memory that you are holding on to.” She replied.
“Might be both.” Falcon said to her as he touched his hand to hers, allowing the feeling of relief that she was as solid as the Kazmiyah that was in his dream, to flood over him.
“Are you alright?” She suddenly asked him.
“I don’t-I don’t know Miyah.” Falcon confessed. “Whatever that vampire did,” He shook his head because he couldn’t even gather himself enough to understand what was going on with him. “Are you real?” He asked Kazmiyah, changing the subject because at the moment she was the only thing he could clearly think of. She was the only thing that truly mattered to him.
She shrugged and sat on one of the high desks. “As real as you think I am, I suppose.” She replied and then tilted her head to the side as she obviously saw the remnants of a dream he referred to earlier in his mind. “What happened in the dream, that won’t allow you to let it go, Falcon?” She asked.
“You.” He simply answered. “You were….there.” He shrugged. “You comforted me and….forgave me for my ignorant transgressions.” He sighed. “But I knew that I wasn’t lucid.” He said. “When I woke up, I knew that it wasn’t really you that was forgiving me...comforting me.” Falcon gazed into Kazmiyah's eyes and gently carressed her face. “Touching me.” His hand traveled up the length of her thick thigh and relished the tingling sensation he experienced by her touch alone. All the while his mind continuously wondering, how, in a dreamstate, where this girl was only a figment of his imagination, did she still have this affect on him. “Why would you forgive me?” He whispered as his mismatched eyes followed the direction of his hand. “Why would you ever forgive the likes of me….when I don’t deserve it? I don’t deserve your forgiveness, Miyah.”
“Maybe you don't...then again, maybe you do, Con.” She replied, her hand touching his. “You’ve been…” she scoffed. “Horrible since day one.” She admitted.
Falcon pulled away from her. “That’s because I didn’t like...how you made me feel Kazmiyah.” He said. “You...It was like something about you forced me to feel protective and possessive over you. Even...even when I thought you were a lowly human a concern for your well-being...nagged at me constantly.” He grimaced, then turned and walked away as he thought about those days. “How excited I and even Nox became when you were around.” Falcon frustratedly shook his head. “I just didn’t understand why-I refused to believe why!” He further explained. “It was after I first saw you that...that.." He exhaled harshly and confessed. "Miyah, you started making me second-guess everything that I ever thought I wanted with Alora!” He exclaimed. “Everything!” He turned around. “After I promised myself to her in front of her father and her mother.” Falcon further explained. He sighed as he realized how worked up he was becoming by just thinking about the past. “Even as a human, you-you just made everything so difficult.” He made his way back to Kazmiyah, as even then, he could not stop from being away from her for too long. “I just-thought it was because you were an attractive human that I wanted under my belt as one of my trophies.”
Kazmiyah's flawless features frowned in distaste of what he ahd just said. “That’s disgusting, Falcon.”
He only scoffed and shrugged. “I may look like a human, Kazmiyah, but I am an animal at heart. I cannot apologize for that. I won’t and that’s just one more thing that you’ll have to hate me for.”
“If I hated you, I would not have sacrificed myself for you.” She said.
"See? How do I even know that this is you saying those words sincerely or me making you say them because it is what I want to hear?" Falcon exclaimed aggravation. He knew that Kazmiyah did not have an answer for him. So, yet again, Falcon took a deep breath to calm himself before continuing on with the conversation at hand. “You sacrificed yourself for me because you thought that it was the only logical thing to do-” He shook his head, anger flaring up within him as he thought about her crazy decision. “It wasn’t!” He forcefully hit the table next to her thigh. “You-you could have led the Navarre, Miyah.” He expressed. “They love you and they don’t even know you.” He chuckled.
“I...am not their Luna, Falcon-”
“You are their Luna, Miyah!” Falcon looked seriously into her eyes. “You will always be their Luna. Nothing will change that!”
“Then tell that to your Luna.” Kazmiyah said, crossing her legs. “You have to remember that this is how it works, Falcon. Regardless of what you say or how you feel, you have to choose.” Kazmiyah reminded him. “And you have to make it known what you want.” She said.
Falcon dropped his head. “How will I protect her, Miyah? How can I keep your father’s word if I leave her?” He asked Miyah.
"As much I...detest my sister's ways," Kazmiyah shrugged. "I would never knowingly allow any harm to befall her. I would help you protect her, Falcon, whenever need be." She told him.
Falcon knew that whether Kazmiyah was saying this or he was thinking this, her words would not veer too far from it, and if he were being honest, it frustrated him sometimes at how genuinely good she was. Alora didn't deserve such an oath from her.
"Still, on the other end, Alora still has to claim responsibility for the things that she has done. That is something that Alora will have to figure out on her own, Falcon.” Kazmiyah added. “She’s not some innocent kid anymore,” She scoffed. “Though, I doubt that she ever was.”
Falcon stifled the small chuckle and shrugged. “It is not about her more than it is your father, Miyah.” He confessed. “I made a promise to him and-”
“Falcon, stop making excuses-and stop making your decisions based on someone else’s feelings!” Kazmiyah snapped.
“Miyah, Alora is my problem!” He returned. “I marked her-we mated! How can I just act as if she is not my responsibility?!” He reasoned. “How selfish-how inconsiderate I would be!” He said. “I just-I know that you think it’s fear of how others will look on me, Miyah but it is so much more than that! I don’t want to hurt anyone. I know you don’t want to hear this but I still do care about what happens to Alora-regardless of her shortcomings. I promised myself to her because I was too impatient and admittedly afraid to wait for you. I was afraid that there was no more choice-that I had no hope towards finding my true mate.” He sighed. “I didn’t listen to Roj,” He shook his head. “And now because of that. I am stuck. My feelings for her still linger.” He dropped his head. “As Alpha, there is always so much pressure in doing the right thing, Miyah. I am the only Alpha that they all have left and I-I just don’t-”
“You don’t want the Navarre to be judged based on your decisions.” Kazmiyah finished his sentence.
Falcon looked up into Kazmiyah’s gaze. “I hate that you read me so well.” He muttered.
Kazmiyah watched him. “Then stay with her Falcon.”
"There in lies the problem..." He mumbled. "I do not want to be with Alora, Miyah.”
“Then what the heck do you want me to say?!” She hissed. “You men-you’re just, ugh!” She exclaimed as she dropped her face to her hands. “Either you stay with her...or you don’t.” Kazmiyah spat in frustration. “At this point, it really has nothing to do with me.” She shifted her leg to move away from the table, when he stopped her, his grip tight against Kazmiyah’s thigh. He pushed himself in between her legs.
“This has everything to do with you.” Falcon said to her. His own heart began to palpitate as he leaned in closer to Kazmiyah. With one hand on her thigh, he laid his large hand on her smaller hand as Kazmiyah was trying to lean away from him. “I care about Alora, Miyah, but I-in the end, I want you ....so much more.” He confessed.
“Falcon don’t-” Before she could finish her sentence, he pressed his lips against hers and pulled her closer to him, leaning against the middle of her thighs until there was no more space between them.
He knew that this was just a dream. He knew that this wasn’t real but any time that he could get with Kazmiyah Crescent Moon-real or not, he was willing to take. Falcon wrapped his arm around waist pressing her against, not leaving an inch between them as he ravaged her mouth with his.
It was only when Falcon heard and felt the rumble of Kazmiyah's moan echoing against his skin that he almost felt his beast igniting for but a moment within him. His incisors elongated, grazing her lips as he lost his breath, a growl of pure ecstacy pushing from Falcon's lips and into Kazmiyah's as they tangled in a passionate embrace
Kazmiyah eventually grew the strength to push him away, her hands shaivering slightly from the sudden heat of arousal that she'd just experienced in Falcon's arms. Their breathing was haggard and their lips were swollen as their foreheads rested against one another to recover from the raw and intense feelings that they had just allowed to go unchecked.
“I hate you...for leaving me, Miyah.” Falcon finally broke the silence when whispered against her lips.
Kazmiyah didn’t say anything right away. She pushed him away from her gently and stepped off of the table. “You left me first, Falcon.” She said, walking away. “I have to go.” She started to walk away when he grabbed her hand.
“Don’t leave me, Kazmiyah.” He begged. “Please.”
She looked at him for a long moment, seeming to war within her mind. “I have to go.” She insisted and walked away. “Just hang in there, Falcon. You’ll be back with your chosen one soon.”
***********************
When she pulled herself out of his mind space, she was suddenly so overwhelmed, physically and emotionally that she couldn’t even move for a moment or two. She dropped her face into her hands and just sat there in the chair, trying not to allow her emotions to get the best of her.
“You alright over there?”
Kazmiyah’s head shot up when she saw Aurora standing there at the doorway, her arms crossed and so were her legs. Kazmiyah sighed and shook her head.
“You seem...flustered.” She said. “What did he have to say?” She asked, walking into the room..
Kazmiyah shrugged in response. “I-” She shook her head. “I don’t even want to talk about it.” She countered.
“Hmm, suit yourself.” Aurora said stoically. Aurora didn’t hold any hard feelings for the girl not wanting to talk to her about whatever happened betweened Kazmiyah and her met when she went in to talk to him. After all, they really didn’t know one another that well. Aurora shrugged. “I take it, he’s holding up in that magnificent dome of his.” Aurora further assumed as she leaned against the wall in the room.
“Barely.” Kazmiyah replied. “He’s very weak.” She informed Aurora. “He can’t even create a memory on his own strength. It’s just darkness-like a void or something.”
“Hmm.” Aurora replied with nothing as she contemplated in her head how long he had. “When I was a kid in the Zodiac, we had classes-on how to fix blood poisoning. Of course, there are different types and time of death varies, but it doesn’t look like he has much longer.” She said.
Kazmiyah stressfully took a deep breath. “I figured you’d say that.” She closed her eyes, a migraine steadily rising to the surface of her overwhelmed brain. “I didn’t even tell him that I was alive.” She said. “I didn’t know whether he was strong enough to take it.”
Aurora stood and watched Kazmiyah Crescent sit there. She could tell that there was far more on the young goddess' mind than what she was saying. She also had a feeling that her fear of whether he was strong enough to take such news, wasn’t the only reason that she didn’t tell him that whatever version of her that he had seen in his more than likely ambiguous dream was real.. “Sure that was the only reason?” She asked.
Kazmiyah looked up at her, caught off guard by Aurora's inquiry. “What is that supposed to mean?”
With a smirk on her face, Aurora shrugged. “Oh, it’s nothing, nothing at all.” She said. “Anyway, the main concern right now is the Alpha.” She said. “He may have a day and a half left-depending on how strong he is, maybe two. But even that is pushing it.”
Kazmiyah immediately became concerned by this. She hated to admit this but she didn’t want Falcon to die-she cared about him too much. “Then what are we going to do?”
“The trials are almost finished, Kaz.” Aurora reassured her. “My niece is having a bit of a hard time since she didn’t even realize that she had such magic in her veins until recent; but I can still use her-”
“Aurora, I don’t want anything going wrong on this. The Navarre need their leader-”
“Relax, sweetie.” She said. “Magdalyn will not be actively participating.” She said. “I’m going to siphon her power to double up mine. It’ll weaken her and she may be out of it for a couple of days, but she will be alright.”
Kazmiyah sighed and nodded her head. “Okay.” She answered, then a thought occurred. “Have you seen my father?” She asked. He hadn’t been around since any of this had happened. She doubted that he even knew that Alora was here.
“I doubt he is in town-else he would have known that all of this was going on.” Aurora replied. “He is the Alpha after all.”
With all that had been going on, she had forgotten to even go looking for her father after finding that he wasn't around, the day that the Navarre had arrived. Bazni was scarce as well and Kazmiyah's mind was so overwhelmed and unstable she could barely use her abilities to pinpoint there her father and his Beta were without losing control.
"I will just fill him in when he returns home." She muttered to herself. Though, she knew that the Alora situation would present itself to be a problem.
As if she was reading Kazmiyah's mind, Aurora asked. "And what of your pesky little sister?"
“I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.” She said under breath. She sighed and looked up at Aurora Valentine. "When will we be able to get this done?” She asked.
Aurora accepted Kazmiyah's answer before replying to her question. “By the end of the day.”
