The Crescents Pack

'How is your pack like?' He stared ahead like he didn't know I was talking to him. ‘Are we almost there?’ Still no response. We had driven for almost 3 hours, and my phone had died, so I was bored out of my mind. ‘You know the earlier you answer me, the earlier I leave you alone.” I caught his eye roll before he brought out his phone to continue ignoring me. Rude much! Not up to five minutes later, the cars pulled up to large silver gates. I tried to remember the name of the pack that Emira told me, but I couldn't. There was a brief security check, then we proceeded into the gates. There was a long stretch of trees that I was convinced that I was going to be living in a forest from now on, but I held my thoughts when I saw a beautiful town setting ahead. It looked like a city out of a fairytale. As we got closer to the town, I saw people coming out of their homes to bow as our car passed. One would think they were all normal humans at first glance, but I knew more than to believe that, and I was terrified. ‘You could have just said we were close.’ I said to Alpha Damien beside me again and he ignored me and got out of the car as soon as it stopped. I was distracted and I hadn’t noticed when we stopped in front of a large building that looked like a large hotel. This must be their pack house, like Emira’s home. ‘Welcome Luna.’ A voice by my side took my attention away from the building. ‘Oh, okay. Please call me Layla.’ I only now noticed he had opened the door for me. When I got out, I looked around, and Alpha Damien was nowhere in sight. He left me. How kind. ‘Welcome Luna.’ I heard a chorus of people, and I was getting shy. ‘Please, Layla.’ I blushed and looked down to hide my embarrassment. ‘I am Beta Jakes, and I would help you settle in.’ The man who opened my door introduced himself. His ginger-colored hair, chiseled jawline, and green eyes certainly made him a sight for sore eyes, but he was nothing compared to Damien. What! What am I thinking? ‘Seems like you have a lot of settling to do. I am the second in command. Over there is Dominique, the Gamma and third in command.’ I looked in the direction he was pointing at and saw a tall brooding man with a dark aura around him. He didn’t even flinch when we made eye contact. I smiled at him and looked away quickly, not expecting a response. ‘Let’s go in.’ I nodded lightly and followed the Beta. We walked through a large door and (describe the house) ‘This is Gia, my wife. She and Natalia are going to help you settle down.’ I looked behind me to see a petite woman with brown hair and a round belly. She is pregnant. She must have noticed me staring at her protruding belly because her hands came up to rub it. ‘I’m four months gone.’ She smiled at Beta Jakes, and he smiled back at her. How cute. ‘Hello Luna. It’s nice to meet you.’ The twinge of excitement in her voice made me warm up to her quickly. ‘Please, call me Layla.’ I wasn’t used to all the terms these people were using. She glanced at her husband in doubt, and he nodded to assure her it was okay. They shared a special bond, and I craved it for myself too. ‘Okay ladies, let me leave you to it. Mia, if you need me, you know where to find me.’ He gave a nod and left us alone.’ ‘So, Natalie is Damien’s sister, and she should be arriving just about…… ‘Hello ladies.’ A sultry voice interrupted Mia. ‘…..now.’ I looked behind me to see the sexiest woman I had seen in my life. She had an all-black attire, black tights, and a tank top, with jet-black hair cascading down her shoulders. Her eyes were highlighted with dark eye shadow, and the only trace of color was on her full lips which had bold red lipstick on it. ‘So, this is the hottest shot in town, nice to finally meet you. Welcome to the Crescents.’ She smirked at me in a way like Damien’s, and their mannerisms were similar. I didn’t have a single doubt she was his sister. ‘Hello, I’m Layla, just Layla.’ I was tired of being called Luna. Gia giggled beside me and Natalie raised a brow in surprise. I liked her already. Gia seems to have a nice and bubbly personality, while Natalie is sexy and sultry, but nice too. Gia and Natalie took me around the pack house and the town, so I could familiarize myself with the locals. Then, we went shopping and got food. It was a nice day, but I was very exhausted. I walked out of the pack house to get fresh night air and space from all that werewolf stuff. I have had enough for one day. The type of change people usually go through is like changing house, or country, this change is a change in reality and it's hard to handle. I don't know what to believe anymore. I walked down a narrow path that led to a beautiful creek. Natalie had told me about this place if I needed space. The water glittered beautifully and the reflection of the moon in the water looked divine. I sat down cross-legged at the edge and stared at my reflection. I didn't know who I was anymore, or what was happening around me. I sat still for a while till the atmosphere became chilly, so I decided to go in. Just as I moved to stand, I heard a branch crack behind me. 'Who's there.' My heartbeat quickened and the cold was suddenly gone. 'Show yourself, who's there?' When I didn't hear anything else, I ran as fast as I could towards the house, which wasn't very fast. I heard a loud growl, and something started chasing me. I ran faster, even though I didn't know what I was running from. It was getting closer and closer, and tears were flowing freely from my eyes. I saw the house ahead and sighed in relief, I was going to live. I almost reached the back door when I tripped on a tree root and tumbled to the ground. Tears sprang to my eyes at the stinging pain of the branch cuts I had, but those were the least of my problems. A big black wolf stood majestically, just a few feet away from me. It was bigger than any normal wolf l had seen before. The black fur glistened under the moonlight, and it looked beautiful. Well, until it advanced towards me scarily, now it looked deadly. I covered my mouth and cried hard. I hadn't lived long, and I was already going to die. Life is very unfair. I wish I had the chance to say a final goodbye to Emira and Aunt Jen. I'll never see them again. The wolf hovered above me and snapped its jaws at me. I closed my eyes, expecting death to come quickly but instead, I heard the snapping of bones that weren't my bones. I peeked through my eyelashes and saw the big wolf reducing in size and taking the shape of a human. I gasped in surprise at what I just witnessed, and the person that was lying on top of me. 'Damien?'
