"Do you think he went far?" I asked Cassy while my eyes were fixed on the door.
It's been over two hours since Aaron left to get me a birthday gift and he hasn't come back yet.
I was growing restless and so was Cassy, she kept pacing around in my head and I kept pacing around the room my eyes darting from the clock that was on his bedside table, to the door.
'Maybe he just got held up with something," I tried to reassure myself but the sinking feeling that was growing deep in my stomach told me otherwise, something was definitely wrong.
"Do you think this feeling is because he has left us?" Cassy asked in my head whining lightly, but I quickly responded,
"No. He has accepted us and we are in his room, there is no way he would leave us. I know we barely know Aaron but after all that he's done for us the last few hours, I can tell that he wants us just as much as we want to be with him and he's definitely going to come back, we just have to keep the faith," I reassured sitting on the bed and hugging his pillow.
His scent was still lingering though not as strong as it was when he was here, which made me miss him even more than I already was.
I wish he could just show---
"He's here! I can sense him," Cassy happily chirped wagging her tail and as if on queue, the door creaked open, his scent engulfing my nostrils.
I got up from the bed about to jump on him and hug him but stopped, the excitement in me growing bigger when he walked in carrying a cake in his hands with balloons, paper bags full of clothes and a basket full of red rose petals floating behind him.
"Surprise!" he excitedly said placing the cake on the table while the bags floated towards me, arranging themselves on the carpet, the balloons floated around me.
The basket full of rose petals positioned itself above my head and I marvelled at the sight.
I knew beta Melissa had supernatural powers but I didn't know Aaron had inherited some of them.
"Happiest birthday to you, mate!" Aaron excitedly said twirling me around, the flower basket tilting over, spreading rose petals on us.
"Aww aaron," I laughed spreading my arms wide.
Once the flowers were done falling, he set my feet on the carpet then looked at me saying,
"I know you said you were content but I still wanted to do something for you so I went and got all this --- well except the clothes, they are the ones you bought with Vanessa,"
"Aww thank you!" I wrapped my arms around him and sniffed tears stinging my eyes. I tried to push them back but the more I tried the more they fell.
"Are you ----- crying?" he asked removing my arms off him and staring at me,
"No no, please don't cry baby, it's your birthday. You should be happy not sad,"
"I'm not crying because I'm sad," I said between sobs as he wiped away my tears, "I'm crying because I'm happy. You've shown me love that I've never experienced before and I feel like this is all a dream and I will wake up and find myself back at the pack house,"
"baaaby," he wrapped his arms around me and I sobbed on his shoulder.
"This isn't a dream, okay? It's real, and I'm going to shower you with so much love that you won't even remember the pain that you've gone through, I promise," he said cupping my cheeks adding, "I promise to love, cherish and give you the world because you deserve it," he kissed my forehead followed by wiping the last of my tears and I sniffed lightly looking at him.
"Come, Let's cut the cake," he led me over to the table, the balloons following behind me as if they were my body guards.
"Your powers are impressive,"
"Huh?" He asked looking at me.
"The flowers and floating balloons," I said gesturing to the balloons.
"Oh yeah, my mom has infinite powers and I inherited some from her,"
"Really? Can you show me?" I hopefully asked wanting to know more about his abilities but he just smiled saying,
"After we celebrate your birthday. Today it's about you and not my powers," he pecked my lips then after singing one line from the happy birthday song, he helped me cut the cake then fed me a piece and I fed him too.
"You should go get dressed, we are going out for dinner," He said wiping the frosting from my mouth.
"Right now?" I asked looking at the time.
"Yes, I already made the reservations for 7pm,"
"But I don't think I can get ready in an hour I mean, I don't know what to wear and my make up needs to be done and---"
"relax baby," he chuckled lightly, "You look good without make up and for the clothes, they are right there, just choose whatever outfit you feel will be perfect and then we can be on our way,"
"But ---"
He kissed my forehead saying,
"I know the dinner plans are of short notice so please don't panic okay, you will look good in whatever you choose to wear,"
"You think so?" I asked and he nodded his head.
I took in a deep breath walking over to the bags and picked the first item that my eyes landed on, a red long off shoulder figure hugging dress.
I tried it on but after seeing that Drake's mark on my shoulder was visible, I decided to change and settled on a bright blue flowy knee length dress with black tights to hide the scars on my legs.
Since my hair was already done and Aaron said I looked good without make up, I decided to just wear flat shoes then walked out of the closet.
"How do I look?" I asked showing off the dress, the first new dress that I've owned.
He didn't say anything and just stood there staring at me from head to toe.
"Say something. Is it bad? Do I need to go change?" I was about to turn around but he held my hand and made me twirl around then pulled me flash against his chest.
"You look breath taking," he whispered close to my ear, followed by pulling on my ear lobe with his teeth.
"You -- you think so?" I stuttered placing my hands on his shoulders as he wrapped his arm around my waist, while his other hand lightly caressed my cheek.
I sucked in a breath when I felt him rub his nose on the croak of my neck right were he had initially placed a hickey.
"I don't think so, but I know so," he whispered again placing small kisses on my neck until the loud rumbling of my stomach caught our attention.
I tightly closed my eyes my cheeks probably red while he chuckled saying,
"You must be hungry, let me go change and we can go okay," he kissed my cheek and disappeared in his closet while I looked down at my stomach wondering why it would growl now and ruin the moment.
"Maybe we can do more after dinner, I want him to mark us!" Cassy purred but I shook my head saying,
"Not yet, I'm still not ready,"
"You are never going to be ready," she scoffed.
I tuned her off looking at Aaron who walked out of the closet wearing a black tux with a bright blue shirt, that matched my dress.
"He looks so hot, I could eat him!" Cassy purred in my head while I looked on wondering how someone could look so hot and breathtaking.
"You are drooling," Aaron said with a chuckle snapping me out of the daze I was in and I shook my head saying,
"no I'm not drooling,"
"If you say so," he let out another chuckle as I looped my hand on his arm.
We were about to walk out of his room when
"Wait, I think I should give it to you now," he said tucking his hand in his pants pocket.
"Give me what?" I asked looking at his hand ready to see what was in his pockets.
"Come," he led me to the bathroom, and made me stand infront of the mirror with him standing behind me.
"What type of gift have you prepared?" I asked trying to distract myself from looking at him and gawking at how perfect he was.
"Close your eyes," he instructed which I happily did, anxiously waiting.
I felt him place something cold around my neck and
"Open," He spoke close to my ear.
I slowly opened my eyes and a gasp escaped my lips when my eyes landed on the beautiful necklace that adorned my neck.
"Do you like it?" he asked as I lightly touched the little gem feeling the stone with my fingers.
"I love it! Thank you so much Aaron," I spoke my eyes still fixed on the necklace my heart souring with happiness.
"The moon goddess has definitely done me justice by giving me a mate like you," I spoke looking at him through the mirror.
"And I'm happy she brought you into my life," he responded turning me to face him.
He kissed my forehead and said, "Now let's go, I don't want to keep you hungry for long,"
I nodded my head and he led me outside to his car.
"Where are we going?" I asked buckling up my seat belt.
"You will see," he said starting the car and pulling out of the drive way a comfortable silence stretching between us.
All through out the car ride, he held my hand, occasionally placing small kisses on it until we reached the restaurant.
He opened the car door for me and I gasp looking at the extravagant building.
The surrounding area was covered in perfectly tamed grass while the walk way was adorned with flowers of different types and colors.
"This place looks amazing," I complimented looking around.
"Wait till you taste the food," he said kissing my cheek and leading the way inside the build were the waiter led us to our table, which was in a secluded corner, giving us privacy.
Once we were safely in our seats, the waiter handed us the menu then went and stood a short distance away giving us privacy.
"What would you like to eat?" Aaron asked picking up the menu and looking at it.
I did the same but after looking at it, I frowned when I realised that the menu didn't have any pictures of the food. just a bunch of words with no prices.
It was at this moment I wished I knew how to read.
"How about you order for us, I can't decide," I said putting the menu down and looking at him.
"Really?" He asked with a raised eyebrow,
"Yeah there is just a lot of food, I don't know what to chose,"
"But it's a starter menu, there is only three items,"
"Really?" I asked looking at the menu again. There were too many words for it to be just three items.
"Well, I can't decide," I said closing it.
"Um okay," he called the waiter and after ordering, the waiter quickly gave us the main menu then left.
I picked up the main menu staring at it and this time, the words were even more than the first one.
I internally groaned feeling a little depressed, why did I have to be illiterate?!
"Just tell him you can't read, he will understand," Cassy pushed
"No that's embarrassing what if he rejects---"
"You don't know how to read, do you?" Aaron's voice caught my attention and I looked at him.
