Jeff's POV
I stood on the second floor, holding the rails while I scanned the whole club. Everyone was having a great time and I like that. Just then, Jessica and Belle walked in. They were with some friends but my gaze was on Belle, she looked really beautiful and was smiling but I could see beneath that.
Jessica told me how her boyfriend has been cheating on her and I can imagine how hurt she must be. I couldn't turn Jessica down when she told me she was bringing her but I didn't expect it would be Belle, one of my friend's daughter. I first saw her at her 16th birthday party and I could tell she liked what she saw. She couldn't keep her eyes off of me.
"Hey there..." Tonya, one of the girls at the club said as she walked up to me. She sized me up seductively before pulling me closer for a kiss.
Tonya is a good girl, she's been on my neck for a while but I just don't find her attractive enough for a relationship. I knew she intentionally came on at me this publicly and I didn't want to embarrass her by turning her away.
"Let's talk somewhere else, Tonya," I said as I gently grabbed her and led her outside.
"I'll drop you at home, get in," I said while she quickly pulled into me again.
"Jeffrey, why can't you date me? I'm in love with you." Tonya said sweetly.
"I wish I could, but I can't. I'm not ready for a love relationship now, we can be friends if you don't mind." I said politely. She tried to kiss me again but I stopped her, I couldn't keep leading her on.
She didn't agree to go with me since I turned down her offer to spend the night with me. She decided to party on instead while I called it a night. Getting home, I decided to have a little private time at the pool. I found a relaxed corner, away from the dim light, and buried myself in thoughts.
Not long after, I saw a figure approach the pool and upon closer look, I saw it was Belle. She looked so stunning and I found myself looking into her eyes, they were blue and inviting.
She looked lost and sad, and I felt like giving her a big hug. Her skin looked so soft and while I admired her beauty, she started to take off her swimsuit. She didn't know I was there, else, she wouldn't do that.
"Belle!" I quickly called out before she went any further. But then, she got scared and fell into the pool. I quickly ran over, jumped in the pool, and pulled her out.
She looked embarrassed once she saw it was me and it was understandable. Ever since I first saw her, I've always known she was attracted to me but I sincerely thought she would outgrow it. Meeting her again, I realized she didn't, if anything, she's even attracted more.
She let out a shy smile as I leaned over and handed her a towel.
"Are you alright?" I asked while she gently dried herself. I apologized for scaring her and through her response, I found out that she was jealous seeing me with Tonya. If only she knew the true and whole true story. The moment I saw her dancing with my nephew Luke, I knew she was trying to get back at me for kissing Tonya. It made me wonder what was going on in her head, and causing her to behave like the 16-year-old girl I met four years ago.
"You have to work on yourself, you're not sixteen anymore," I said and then left. I could tell my body was distracting and making her uncomfortable. She even fell after seeing me down there, so I just had to leave and allow her to enjoy her privacy.
I caught her subtle smile as I turned to leave but I didn't look back to check. As I walked past the hallway into my room, my phone rang and Sonia's face lit up the screen. Seeing her face pop up out of nowhere brought back old memories, ones that I never wanted to remember.
Sonia is my ex-wife and though, we've separated for more than a decade, she still behaves like we're together. She's relentless about getting back together but as for me, that chapter is long closed. The only reason why I haven't cut all ties with her is Jessica. She needs her mom in her life and I can't deprive her of that because of my selfish reasons.
"Urgrhh" I let out coldly as I swiped the red button and ended the call. I'm not in a mood for her pointless bickering. I have some files to work on before bed and her voice would only ruin my morale.
I headed straight for the bathroom and had a cold shower after which I settled at my table and got to work. I heard footsteps across the hallway, they were quiet and I knew it was Belle. She was probably sneaking into her room in an attempt to avoid running into me.
I found myself smiling and that was when I remembered Jessica, we both left her at the club. I quickly grabbed my phone and called JP, one of my guys at the club.
"Is my daughter still there?" I asked JP.
"Yes Sir, but she's drunk." He replied while I rubbed my forehead nervously. I still don't understand why she drinks more than she can handle.
"Get her home this minute!" I ordered and then hung up.
I tried to resume working on the files but I couldn't, my mind was on Jessica. She's not back and I'm worried. I was going to head to the club myself and get my daughter but on second thought, I decided to call JP again so we don't miss each other in case he's already on the way home with her.
Before the call went through, I heard footsteps outside, I checked and saw JP carrying Jessica effortlessly like a loaf of bread.
"Thanks, JP, I'll take it from here," I said and then took Jessica from him. I helped her into the room, tucked her into bed, and then left immediately
