Chapter 10 - Threatened by Captain Alex

“To be honest, I never thought that someone like you could kill Ethan Lux who is from the main lineage of the Lux Family. Did you kill him using despicable means like ambushing him?”

Alex who was the captain of the Secret Service's fifth team looked closely at the man in front of him, he couldn't see anything special about William at all.

The man in front of him looked exactly like the ordinary teenager he had always seen, his body not giving off any imposing demeanor at all. Even Captain Alex took the time to glance slightly at the room behind William, but he only saw an old black book with a normal white bamboo brush without the slightest bit of weirdness.

Seeing that action, William felt that the actions of the captain of the fifth team of the Secret Service in front of him were too strange.

Despite that, William didn't really care about his strange actions and just stared at him with a cold gaze.

"So what do you want from me? Do you want to arrest me and hand it over to the LuxFamily? Or kill me on the spot?”

The shadowy figure had a black suit that resembled 19th century Europe, and a tall black hat that looked like a magician's hat. That's right, this is William Marionette Battle Soul.

After seeing William's provocative statement, several members of his Fifth Secret Service team became extremely wary. They subconsciously took out different Battle Souls to protect themselves.

The atmosphere of silence around him became extremely gloomy, like a collection of gunpowder that could explode at any moment.

But the silence in this place only lasted for a moment, it was because there was a voice of a man who broke the tense silence.

“Tsk tsk tsk, it seems you have misunderstood the situation! I came to you not because I wanted to hand you over to the Lux Family, but because I wanted to have you join my team as a member of the Secret Service!”

When William glanced towards the source of the sound, he saw that the Secret Service Captain of the fifth team, Alex, was shaking his head and starting to raise his hands high.

Not only did Captain Alex make a surrender, but the members behind him also followed suit.

Even though the members had bewildered expressions about what Captain Alex wanted to do, they still followed his actions.

William didn't lower his guard at all even though the people in front of him made a gesture of surrender, he still glared at them and said, “What do you mean by all this? Do you want me to join your team? Do you think I'm stupid to accept the offer?”

If William remembers correctly, Captain Alex in front of him is one of the main descendants of the 3 major families in the Feysac Kingdom.

"Looks like I haven't introduced myself, I'm Alex who comes from the Crust family."

Crust Family is one of the Three Great Families in the Feysac Kingdom. It was highly likely that the person called Captain Alex in front of him was someone from the main lineage of the Crust Family, at least William could think of that.

"Oh? Is that so?"

When Captain Alex heard William reply, he only laughed lightly and said, “You don't believe me, do you? If I were in your position, I might as well have made the same decision not to believe what other people say.”

“There's no need to bother thinking about whether to believe my words or not because you're currently at a disadvantage. I will give you a choice!”

“Unfavorable situation? What a confident speech!” William became slightly interested in the words of the grown man named Alex in front of him.

“Firstly, you are not a true citizen of the Feysac Kingdom. As long as I give notice that Ethan Lux's murder was caused by a spy from another Kingdom, then your peaceful life will end due to being a fugitive.”

When William listened to the first choice, he frowned and said, “You actually dare to use threats to recruit someone into your team huh? Aren't you afraid that one day I'll stab you in the back?”

After hearing that, Captain Alex subconsciously smiled confidently and said, “Afraid of being stabbed in the back? Hehehe, it's a shame I haven't felt anything like that since I awakened my second Battle Soul ability."

“Battle Soul's second ability? It seems that the man in front of me is a tier 8 Spirit Warrior, it would be a little troublesome to get out of this with normal means.” William spoke in his heart as he recalled the previous incident of what he had to write in the cause and effect book.

With a smirk on his face, William looked at Captain Lux and said, “Then what will the second choice look like for me?”

The moment Captain Alex saw the mysterious smirk of the teenage boy in front of him, he involuntarily shuddered. His instincts told him that the teenage boy in front of him was not an ordinary innocent teenager, but someone who could risk his life.

But unfortunately, that Captain Alex was already on the back of the ferocious tiger, that's why he couldn't get off the tiger's back and act as nothing happened.

Captain Alex could only gulp and braced himself, “The second option is for you to accept my offer to enter the Secret Service's team of five, and I promise not to spread the news to the public that you are the perpetrator of the murder of a major member of the Lux Family.”

“Not only that, even I can promise a good future for your life if you become my loyal subordinate. If you don't want to accept my offer, then we can all forget about what happened here. How? Can you accept my sincere intentions?”

After Captain Alex finished saying those words, the atmosphere around him suddenly became quiet.

The members of the fifth Secret Service team around him had shocked expressions, they couldn't believe what their captain had just said. Even the innkeeper who was originally watching leisurely from behind now had a frightened expression on his face.

"Captain! Why did you suddenly back away like that? Aren't you planning to use him as an officer in charge of team five's dirty work?!”

“Sir Alex, wouldn't my life be in jeopardy if you let the young boy go? This doesn't match what you said about guaranteeing my protection as a witness! If I had known the situation would turn out like this, it would have been better if I never said anything to you!”

Not only was one member of the Secret Service's fifth team dissatisfied with Captain Alex's decision, but the innkeeper was also dissatisfied with Captain Alex's attitude.

But what responded to the two of them was not an answer from Captain Alex's mouth, but a sharp dagger stabbed into their heads.

“I don't need someone who doesn't understand my decision!” The captain said in a cold tone ignoring the two people he had just killed. Then he looked at William with a smile, “How? What kind of choices will you make?"
