Avery POV I stepped inside the room and to my surprise and relief, I found Piper sitting on her pink plush chair and Kieran sitting on the opposite. ‘Oh my goodness, was I really hallucinating? If yes, I really need a good rest!’ I thought in my head. I couldn't believe that I had just suspected my own sister and brother were betraying me! “Babe, you are burning up! Piper please call a pack doctor,” he barked orders before sweeping me off my feet and leading me out of the room. Oh my goodness, could I have imagined such a nasty thing about my very own sister! Moon goddess please forgive me for my nasty and wild imaginations. I promise you it won't happen again!’ “Babe, I will help you take a few days off, you need lots of rest okay?” He stated as a matter of factly. I could only watch as he grabbed a bowl and watched his every move right from the mom dipped in a towel before gently placing it on my forehead. “But the pack hospital needs me and also needs to see Ester tomorrow, besides I haven't been able to incite and double check the guest list. I also haven't spoken with the Event planner. I also haven't picked up my dress for the birthday party. My goodness, I have got a lot of planning and tasks to do!’ I ranted on and on that I had to take a deep breath by the time I was done with my words. I could feel his hands gently patting my shoulders reassuringly. “You have to take a lot of rest, Dr Hames orders not mine, he scolded the hell out of me and I am not letting that happen again. For now we should focus on you getting well soon. Besides, Piper will happily help you with your dress and the guests. As for the hospital, I think they will be able to manage just fine without you.” He responded to all of my doubts at once. This is one of the things that I love about Kieran, he always finds a solution to my problems. “What about the scent masking, we need to do that soon okay, because right after your birthday there are lots of events following which are the Alpha Coronation, My lungs ceremony,” I explained to him. “You are right, the only time we have to do the scent masking ritual is tomorrow, besides there will be several guests at the party tomorrow…who knows if our true mates are going to be here. I will speak with Ester now and make sure she prepares the scent masking potion tomorrow!” “Perfect, judging by the looks of it, I will be totally fine tomorrow, you don't need to worry about anything,”I assured him and squeezed his eyes lightly. My sister came in right at that moment with a tray of biscuits and warm milk. My goodness, how could I have possibly imagined those horrible things about my sister. How could I possibly imagine her cheating with Kieran. My goodness, I must be so sick and out of my mind. I scolded myself again and again that I didn't realize the fact that Piper was waving her hands right in front of my face as if to gain my attention. “I have called Mom and Dad and they are currently on their way home,” she informed, pushing the tray closer to me. The very special date Piper planned was ruined all because of me! “Really,” was all I could say as I imagined my mom rushing down here and my dad with a disappointing and yet stoic look on his face. I'd sacrifice my life in order to learn how he effortlessly pulls both looks at the same time. “Yes, by the way, I have called at your work and you are currently allowed on a week's leave, that means you will have enough rest before and after Kieran's coronation,” she added and I gave her hands a little squeeze. ~~~ Here I was standing right in the center of the crowd with a glass of wine in my hands. I was currently drapee in a raspberry pink gown. It was a long tight sequined gown which Avery specifically picked for me. I could only help but think of her even though it wasn't my taste. I tried so hard not to squirm and wriggle in that dress all because I don't want someone noticing my discomfort. I could feel everyone's scrutinizing gaze in me and I could only help but siver, I could only bite and bile rised up to my throat. It wasn't actually because of the glaring looks, no I was used to that but it was because of the fact that I was the only one who wasn't aware that Kieran's birthday was a black color theme. Amidst the sea of blacks in the crowd, I was the only one who dared to look all glittery and static. I only calm down a little because Kieran's by my side. “Sweetheart, I need to mingle with the guest Alphas, I should get as much support as I can for my Alpha coronation don't you think?” He whispered in ears and I immediately nodded agreement. In the next second, I could see the back of his black tuxedo leaving and I beamed. ‘That fine piece of man,’ I giggled, twirling my glasses and taking a whiff of it. “Avery,” someone called out startling me. To my surprise, it was Piper. “Piper,” I called back, turning back to check her out. I must say she looked glamorous. With her bold eyeliner and mascara, her pink bright lips and her hair leaked well done by a professional stylist. It was packed up in a messy bun and a few curls were dancing by her sides. She wore an exquisite black necklace and from the looks of it, it was from Mom. My eyes wouldn't hide the grave shock on my face, why would mom give Piper, the very jewelry she held dear. I could vividly remember her torturing a maid to death because she mishandled it. “Your necklace is stunning and familiar as well,” I c****d my head waiting for her response. “I thought you didn't notice, Mom specifically gave it to me for tonight!” She beamed with smiles and I could only nod. Her long flowy black gown made her look like a black swan. “How do I look, Avery,” she asked and as if on cue, she did a little twirl like a swan on a river. “You look stunning little sis but why didn't you get me a black dress like yours, now look how I ruined the birthday theme and everyone has been whispering about me,” I explained to her but she only smiled softly. “Sister, you are overthinking this. Why could you care about those jealous people, they are only behaving that way because you are the future Luna of our great pack,” she said and I could only help but smile. One thing about my sister is that she can easily uplift one's mood. I guess that is the reason why she is a therapist by the way. “Thank you sister, I think I need to use the restroom at the moment,” I said. That is the only way and place I could breathe in this suffocating dress. I hate the material, I hate the sticky material clung tight to my skin and I feel very uncomfortable in it. I was about to twist the door knob when I heard a few voices gossiping in the restroom. “Did you see Avery Blackwood's look tonight?” One quizzed letting out a deep cackle. “Oh yeah, she looks like a clown, I can't help but wonder how Kieran feels with that clown next to him.” “Almost like a statue and robotic,” another one blurted in and I angrily clenched only fists. “I think someone is by the door listening to us,” another one said and that was my cue to twist the door knob and walk in. I gave them a killer look before getting in. As expected, they all scrambled out like black crows. “Those conniving bitches,” Sia my wolf butted in angrily and I let out a sign knowing fully well the reason behind her words. “We should be the ones feeling bad when standing next to Kieran not the other way round,” Sia never liked Kieran from the start and she never bothered to hide it. She thinks Kieran is a cunt who doesn't deserve any of our attention. The moment I stepped back into the party, someone pulled me into a dim corner and I let out a yelp. To my surprise, it was the devil himself. Luckily his hair was styled back this time enunciating his high and sharp cheekbones and jawlines. He looked like Adonis himself. Wait what am I thinking? Calling this devil an Adonis. “What the hell do you think you are doing? People are watching!” I scolded him and tried to wriggle out of his hold but to no avail. “Let them,” he said curtly. Why don't you have a seat,” he beckoned to an empty chair next to him. “No, I am not interested. Who the hell invited me to their party anyway?” I asked with an annoyed look on my face. “I am Aidan Silvester, I don't need an invite,” he said with a cocky smile on his face and I realized how stupid my question was. “Now have a seat, little doll or I will get that pretty ass seated,” his voice was sultry, vulgar and disrespectful. What the hell, just because he is attractive doesn't mean that he was right to flirt with everyone and most especially his half brother's girlfriend! I raised my hands about to hit that handsome face of his and couldn't help but fantasize how red it would look after it connects with my hands. In the blink of an eye, he caught a hold of my wrist and pulled me closer to him. My eyes bulged out, shock and surprise laced all over my features when I realized the fact that my ass was seated on something hard yet firm and rocky. It was his LAP, his freaking lap. Oh my goodness, this is very disrespectful to Kieran, I pray he doesn't see this. “I had always known you acted like an irrational little doll, I even gave you a choice,” he whispered, his voice dripping with sarcasm and seduction. “Let me off your lap and you wouldn't have to worry about the consequences of your actions!” I was threatened with venom dripping in my voice. At this minute, I wished for nothing but the freedom to let Sia out and s***h his cheeks but that would bring unwarranted attention right? “Worry? The only thing you need to worry about is where Kieran is,” he c****d his head as if expecting some answers or reactions from me but he wasn't getting none. “I had never known you were such a big dumbo, of course this is a party where on earth would he be if not for his own party.” I glared at him. “And most importantly what he is doing right now!” At this point, I could see his mischievousness dancing in his eyes. He seemed to be enjoying this, what a total nutcase. The same can't be said for me since he held me captive right on his lap!” He is obviously connected with other alphas unlike someone who thinks that the pack business is a joke and has no interest in helping it, you cannot relate to that, can you?” I threw a jab at him and for the first time this evening I wore a victorious smirk on my lips, but that soon wore out when he let out a dark chuckle. “You are right little doll but that's not the point of our discussion, the point is that you need to head upstairs right now and there you might learn a new fun fact,” he said whilst drumming his fingers on the table. “Like what,” I was literally begging for a hint, I couldn't believe the fact that I am still interested in listening to whatever he has to say even after this huge disrespect. ‘But what can I say, curiosity does kill the cat! Especially a cat like me. “Like Kieran screwing your beloved little sister, now run along little doll,” he nudged me whilst I stood as shock zapped through my entire skin.
