Avery POV
“Yes, I completely understand your point Piper, which is why I need to go to the hospital to get this job done and then rush back to the Alpha’s house!” I patted her shoulder and grabbed the door knob about to leave.
“So does this mean that I can go over and handle things in your stead until you come back?” she asked with an eager look on her face. I knew absolutely why she wanted to go..it is simply because she loves someone who is interested in talking about her patient traumas. Of course I am interested in that but she tells me that I suck at giving critiques.
“Sure, of course. As for now, I must be on my way, take care of yourself,” I yelled behind me, running down a flight of stairs.
“Good morning ma'am,” the helpers greeted me and I could only respond with a smile or nod. Luckily for me, my mother wasn't there which made it easier for me to escape the house.
As I stride through the pack hospital's sliding glass doors my heels clicked confidently on the well polished floor. My white coat billows behind me and my name, Avery Blackwood, is embroidered on the back. I paused in my tracks, trying to calm my nerves letting the familiar and comforting scent and hum of the machinery envelope me.
My gaze sweeps the ER lobby, scanning for signs of chaos or Dr Chandler. As for chaos, of course there were signs of it but as for Dr Chandler, he's nowhere to be found, perhaps he forgot the fact that I told him that I was coming in 20 minutes.
Nurses and residents hurry past me, exchanging nods or murmured greetings which I reciprocated absentmindedly.
Instead my eyes locked onto the triage nurse who had a tensed expression on her face.
“Dr Avery, you are here?” she had an appalled look on her face as soon as she saw me.
“Yes I am, do you mind filling me in on the case of the five seriously injured packguards in the ER.” I asked with urgency in my tone.
“ Of course Dr Avery, they were attacked by rogues, really really feral ones!” she said.
“Where is Dr Chandler?” I asked as she trailed right behind me.
“Right here Dr Avery, I am so glad you could make it!” A voice boomed behind me.
“Terrific,” I shrieked as I shed off my coat revealing my outfit beneath.
“Let's move, get the operating room prepped. I want a full team ready now,” they nodded at once and I immediately slid into the changing room.
With complete ease, I scrub in, my mind racing through various scenarios of my unseen patient.
from the changing room and towards the OR.
From the corner of my eye, I saw the door burst open and the trauma team rushed in bearing the stretcher. My gaze met with the nurse's grim gaze, she looked exhausted.
“Okay now, I need full details on the patient chart and lab results.” I announced and as if on cue, she presented it to me without taking a single breath.
“I have reviewed his medical records and completed the necessary evaluations to clear him for the scheduled ACDF procedure…” With that being said, I closed the folder and handed it back to the nurse.
“Scalpel please,” I asked as my training instincts kicked in. This is what I do! This is who I am.

Tell me why I am pulling right in front of my boyfriend's house after eight hours in the hospital. One, he didn't pick up my calls and is probably being petty and trying to get even with me and two, I want to surprise him, I missed him and also I need to help him plan his special day.
“Future Luna, the butler bowed in submission as I entered the huge mansion and I responded with a huge smile.
“Avery,” I heard my name being called and I turned to the side. It was my future mother-in-law sipping her favorite pumpkin juice. She routinely drinks that saying and praises it for helping her skin to keep that young and healthy glow. She has always tried to slip me the ingredients but I had always declined politely of course.
“I was certainly not expecting you to be here, Avery. What a surprise visit!” she exclaimed, the surprised look evident on her face.
“Oh really why?” I squinted, surprised by her words. I certainly don't remember telling her anything about not coming here or something.
“Oh Piper already told me that you are super duper busy with the pack hospital and wouldn't be coming to visit for a few days,” she said and I gave her a fake smile. Why did she have to exaggerate what Piper had said? I clearly remember telling her that I would drop by later. Mothers and exaggerations are absolutely no different from my mom.
“Yes she is right. I actually wanted to surprise you,” I grinned at her lingering a little while hoping she did realize something.
“And you have got a beautiful dress on Avery, it goes well with your eyes. You look like a real princess in it, one who deserves a charming prince,” her compliments flattered me honestly because the one true prince charming I think I deserve is her son Kieran Silvester.
“Thank you Janet, you have no idea how happy I am to hear those compliments,” I giggled and she did too. I had honestly expected this reaction from her since I mostly wear scrubs, lab coats and baggy clothes. I rarely wear a dress, especially a pink one except on outings and events. That reason is that I never get enough time to get dolled up and I feel comfortable in my baggy outfits.
“If there is nothing else, I will like to go and see Kieran!” I said but she stopped me in my tracks.
“Hold on a second,” she called out and I turned back only to realize that she was mind linking someone but who and what does it have to do with me.
“Uhmm, sorry about that, I just had to inform the Alpha to get me some pumpkin juice since I have been out of it for some time now. You know us girls have to take care of ourselves,” she uttered without a single breath which made me worry since I have never asked for a single explanation and yet she felt the need to clarify herself.
“Luna, luna,” someone yelled with happiness evident in their voice.
“I finally got the fresh pumpkin juice you sent me for a few minutes ago!” a short chocolate haired lady came running with boxes of pumpkin juice in her hands.
“Oh shut up Gretta!” she gritted her teeth and her vains were popping out of her forehead which was very queer since Luna is someone who prides herself in talking in a graceful and slow manner.
“I will be on my way now,” I gathered the hem of my pink dress and walked towards the elevator.
I had just pressed the button and took a few steps back waiting for it to slide open when I collided into a stone wall. I hissed as a sharp pain waltzed through my body. f**k, I have been very careful with my dress as I don't want creases on it. I mean it's a surprise to Kieran.
“What a clumsy little doll,” the voice let out a very dark and rich chuckle and I fisted my hands tightly. Well it seems like this angry little doll is about to send him to hell.
