Fear the Reaper

Chapter 3

"I received an order from the Highest Chief ladies and gentlemen. The chief said that the Earth will undergo a cleansing which means we have to force harvest those habitants of the below before I go to sleep," sabi ko sa kanila. "I want all of us to double our work starting the next day. The Chief will create a new species called humans. They will inhabit the Earth," sabi ko pa sa kanila habang matamang na nakikinig sa sa akin. 

"Boss," nagtaas ng kamay si Alizeh, head ng Vampire reaper.

"Yes Alizeh?" 

"Does it mean we have to mass kill all the vampires in our country?" tanong niya sa akin. 

"Yes. Women, men, children, newborns and unborns must be killed. They are all fed on the blood of animals, and when humans are created, I know they will avert their appetites to humans since they are high class animals," sagot ko sa kanya. 

"How about the shifters, Boss? Are they also on the list?" tanong ni Azabi, head reaper ng Shifters. 

"Yes. No one will be exempted in cleansing. All must die. Earth should be ready when the Chief starts to create His Humans," sagot ko sa kanila. "We should do it while I'm still wide awake. My skin is starting to itch and you know what it means," sabi ko pa bago bumaling kay Uno, ang head ng Death Timer. "Uno, you can freeze the time of death to those living on Earth starting today. We will reap them at will."

"Copy, boss," sagot niya sa akin.

"Grimm, double the funds and buy all the ships that Hel's had. We will be needing all of it for transportation and also double the ferryman of each ship. We should deliver them ASAP since a massive amount of souls will be reaping everyday," sabi ko sa kanya. 

"Understood, Boss," sagot niya habang nagsusulat at nakatingin sa akin. 

"And also Charon, you and your team are the heart of this massive reaping. Please work faster than usual. I can count on you, right?" 

"Yes boss, we'll work hard. You can count on my team," sagot niya sa akin. 

"Alright. We will do our job as the Chief has given to us. We didn't become immortals for nothing. So I hope we will work together," sabi ko sa kanila. 

As expected, Elysium and Cythonic are both overwhelmed for the sudden increase of usual souls that should be delivered to them. Kung hindi reklamo dahil sa hindi sila handa sa pag-accommodate ng biglang volume ng mga kaluluwang napunta sa kanila. 

"Celestial Reaper! What are you doing? Why are these souls? Omg I don't have enough space yet," complain one from Asmodeus of six level prince of Cythonic.

"Are you planning on invading my turf with a massive amount of souls?" complain two from Rafael of gate pearl three of Elysium.

"What the hell is this? Dumping too many souls to me? Are you in season harvesting?" complain number three by Lucifer the self proclaimed star of the first level of Cythonic. 

Iilan pa lang iyan sa libo-libong complaints na natanggap ko. I have to send them the same recorded voicemail and be done with it. 

"I'm sorry for delivering an unusual amount of souls to you all bitches and bastards. The Death department is in a hurry to cleanse the Earth. Any complaint regarding that matter is answered by this recorded voice. If you are dissatisfied, please play this voice mail again and again and memorise it until this can get through your thick skulls. Thank you. This is your Celestial Reaper answering your s**t questions"

Nasa kalagitnaan ako ng pagbabasa ng mga report ng biglang na lang tumawag si Seraphim upang sabihing may mahalaga kaming pag-uusapan ng kaming dalawa lang. The conversation between us will be held in a place in Elysium. Agad akong tumugon sa kanyang request at nagteleport mismo sa lugar kung saan niya sinabing magkikita kami. 

"What is the problem?" tanong ko sa kanya na halatang balisa. 

"I've been worrying about the seed of blood. That seed is the last seed that once belonged to the Sin, the Chief's greatest enemy," sabi niya sa akin. "Satan knew about this seed. So I called you here for him to be unaware of what we are about to discuss," sabi pa niya.

Naupo ako sa opposite na upuan na kanyang kinauupuan. 

"First, enlighten me about this seed of blood. I don't really know about it," sabi ko sa kanya.

"There are three seeds that belong to three departments. Elysium had the seed of knowledge. Axis Mundi has the seed of immortality and Cythonic has the seed of bloodlife. The tree seeds have different purposes. Once planted and bearing fruits, the seeds' ability will be transferred to the fruits and to all those  who ate it, they will gain what the fruits can offer, knowledge, immortality and life. But the seed of bloodlife has far more effect than the two. The seed can change the one who eats it's fruits. For example the creatures that depend on blood such as vampires," sabi niya. 

"No freaking way," sagot ko sa kanya. 

"Yes it is possible. I'm worried that whoever created the Vampires had the seed. It's just my own assumption," sagot nito sa akin. 

"Lilith is long dead," sagot ko sa kanya. "Once dead no one can ever be resurrected again."

"I know that," sabi niya. "I couldn't shake the feeling that someone had the seed and hid it somewhere," aniya pa. 

"Hmm," sabi ko habang nakatingin sa kanya. "Tell me, are you suspecting Satan?" tanong ko sa kanya. 

Umiling siya sa akin. 

"No. But I couldn't shake the feeling that he knew who stole it and decided to keep it rather than telling me," sagot niya. 

This can't be happening. Half of vampires and shifters are already eradicated. If someone had the seed, whoever had it is probably thinking of something else and is waiting for the right time to plant it. 

"This is why I always telling you to guard your vault carefully," sabi ko sa kanya na hindi maiiwasan ang hindi mainis. "You know I have to clean the Earth before I go into a deep sleep. Why are you doing this? Kung hindi naging pabaya ang mga tauhan mo, hindi sana mawawala ang butong iyon. I'm running out of time, Seraphim. Bukod doon ay may trabaho pa akong ginagawa," inis kong sabi sa kanya.

"I know and I'm sorry. I thought I could warn you by saying this, plus isn't it your job to make sure no hindrance will happen upon cleansing the Earth?" tanong niya. 

"Bullshit! Your job is simply guarding that s**t seed. While me, I'm pushing my ass to balance Life and Death and the task that was given to me at ngayon papoproblemahin mo ako sa panganib na dala ng seed na iyan? Seraphim, I know you are not stupid. You just can't rely on anyone. You need to do your job properly. I cannot leave my domain that long because I have a seed to guard on. Do your job. Find it as I do my own," sabi ko pa sa kanya bago tumayo. 

"Very well, Nine. I'm sorry for disturbing you," sagot niya sa akin.

Napansin ko ang bahagyang nadumihang bahagi ng suot nitong puting mahabang damit. That's odd. Seraphim is always aware of his dress. He liked it as clean and white as possible. Nakapagtataka.

"It seems like he's not the usual Seraphim," bulong ko sa sarili ko ngunit ipinagkibit-balikat ko na lang ito. 

I don't care what is happening outside my domain as long as death isn't involved. Kung anuman ang kinakaharap ni Seraphim ngayon sa department niya, it is the least thing in my list. 

"Boss," salubong sa akin ni Grimm. "The report is done. More than half of the species are now eliminated. And the souls are well-taken care of," sabi pa niya. 

"Okay, what else?" tanong ko. 

Napatingin sa akin si Grimm. 

"What's wrong boss? You seem pissed," sabi pa niya.

"Yeah," sagot ko sa kanya. "Some freaking idiots who don't know how to do their jobs properly. And then they want to pass it to someone who's busy enough to be disturb! Dammit!"

Grimm understands me when I'm pissed. Alam din niya na nagiging moody ako at cranky ako kapag nalalapit na ang pagpapalit ko ng balat. 

"Would you like me to do something about it, Boss?" tanong niya sa akin. 

"No. We will focus on our job. I can feel that anytime I will change my skin but before it will happen, I need to be free of radicals," sagot ko sa kanya. 

Three eons passed by and the Earth is finally free. 

Nararamdaman ko na ang aking antok. Ugh damn it. 

"How's everything? Did you check every nook of the Earth?" tanong ko kina Grimm at Charon habang humihikab. 

"Yes, boss. Everything is clear. Wala kaming nakitang buhay ni isa at lahat ay nabilugan na sa listahan. Everything is at the right place. Pwede ka ng matulog boss. Halatang-halata na ang antok sa mga mata mo at namumula na rin ang iyong balat," sabi pa niya. "Shall I ready your chamber?" 

And tinutukoy niya ay ang Abyssal Limbo na tanging siya lang sa lahat ng mga tauhan ko ang nakakaalam. 

"Please do," sagot ko sa kanya bago muling naghikab. 

Umikot muna ako sa Earth at naglakad-lakad. My job is finally done. I hope when I wake up, everything will be good just as the Chief had planned.

I teleported back to my domain and left some instructions to all of my men before I finally went to Abyssal Limbo and changed into my huge serpient form. 

"I shall live you, Boss," sabi sa akin ni Grimm na bahagya pang yumukod. 

"I leave everything to you," sabi ko pa sa kanya before closing my eyes and I started to shed my skin off of my body. 

Grimm slowly walked away from me and closed the door. That door can be open from the inside at tanging ako lang ang may kakayahan kung paano ito buksan.
