Chapter 5

Hecta walked outside she needed some air and she wanted to visit her son’s grave. She didn’t even get to see him or feel him before they took him away and killed him like he was nothing. Sitting next to the headstone, she let a few tears fall, she knew she had to be strong, but she was allowed to have we weak moment, this would be one of the rare moments. She felt like Anabel did something to her evil heart, it was like she put a little compassion there, and Hecta didn’t like it, she wanted it to go, but she didn’t know how to tell Marcus without sounding like she was weak. Hecta sat there for a while before Marcus walked over to her and found her sitting there. “I know I miss him too, we both didn’t get to see him and they just killed him.” He said shaking his head. “I wish I could have been there to stop it, but it took Dremis a long time to break down the magic they had on your room. Once I was thrown, it was already too late.” He said taking a knee next to her. “Don’t worry we will make things right, he didn’t die for nothing, we will get his death revived.” He said touching her face. “I hate these new emotions I’m feeling, but I cannot help it.” She said looking him in the eye. “I just want them all to stop screaming at me, I liked being that hollow woman I was before this.” “I like the new you, it makes you easier to talk to. You are not demanding much of anyone right now, and I think that is the better approach, we can slowly prepare for the war, and bring it to them fully.” He said helping Hecta to her feet. “They are not going to know what happened, they aren’t going to know how to fix what we do.” “Maybe, maybe not.” She said shaking her head. “If I cannot get my full power back, we may have to hide for a long time.” She said looking down at the symbols carved into her skin. “I feel like these were supposed to disappear after you awakened me.” “They will disappear soon enough; you have to give them time. You’ve been out of date for a while.” He said gently gliding his fingers across the symbols. “Those were some painful times for Anabel, but she made it through it. We thought she would die after the second time, but she was strong. That is why I know you are going to be strong enough soon; we will go to the vampire realm and start a fresh new army.” “I kind of like that idea.” She said stroking his face. “I will always call this home because our son is buried here, but we will find a better home there.” She half-smiled at him. “I want to go to the vampire realm with only you, I don’t want Victor trying to fix anything, you know how it went last time.” She said shaking her head. “Yes of course.” He said kissing her. “We will go together and see what they have to offer, hopefully, all good news.” He said turning away from her. “I want to be able to walk around freely without worry the Angels are going to appear and kill us.” He said looking back at her. “I know, don’t worry we’re going to find a place they aren’t going to know we’re there. If they find us, we’ll fight until every last one of them is dead.” She said touching his arm. “Let’s go back inside, you look stressed maybe a massage will relax you some.” “Maybe.” He said, he led her into the house and the room. Hecta closed the door behind her, Marcus lay on the bed. She gave him a massage; she also forced him to sleep some with some of her magic. She knew he was going to be mad when he woke up, but she felt like he needed to sleep some. Hecta walked around some of the halls while she waited for Marcus to wake up. Drake appeared in front of her. “Good evening Hecta.” He said bowing. “I haven’t come to introduce myself because you have a lot more crap to deal with, but I am Drake. I am the one that helped make Anabel your new host.” He said kissing her on her hand. “Please do not touch me.” She said shaking her head. “Yes Marcus has told me all about you, I suggest him kill you, but he says you do your part, so you live for now.” She said walking away from him. “What do you want Drake?” she said over her shoulder. “I just want you to know I am around and if you need me to do something for you, or if you want another soldier I am here.” He said half smiling. “If you don’t want me, I understand.” “We’re going to a new realm tomorrow, you are to meet her.” She said looking at him. “We’re going to take a small army in case they try something funny.” She said walking down the hall. “I hope you can kill vampires, if not then you should stay here. I need warriors not pussies.” She said but didn’t stick around to listen to him anymore. Hecta walked towards where Marcus was asleep, she popped her head in, his back was turned towards the door, and he was still sleeping. She closed the door and walked towards the kitchen, she wanted to find something to eat and drink, she wanted to enjoy the time she had alone, even though she wanted to know what Dremis was up to, and if he could find Carlos. She didn’t want to rush anything, but she did want things to get going, she was tired of waiting, tired of relying on people to do things for her. “Hey,” Marcus said coming into the kitchen. “I was awake, I just was laying there. Why didn’t you come and join me?” he said looking at her. “I thought you were tired, and I’m restless.” She said pulling some punch out of the fridge. “Do you feel better?” “Somewhat.” He said sitting down on the chair. “I wish you wouldn’t have used magic on me, you should have told me to go to bed. You know I would have tried to fall asleep, or least told you to use the magic.” “I did what I thought you needed.” She said without looking at him. “Now that I know I can do that, and you sleep. Expect me to do it again and again.” She said turning to face him. “I need you charged up and ready for things to be done. You’ve been running for centuries, it’s time to stop and relax a little.” She said taking a drink. “I will once I know you can handle yourself, I don’t need you getting hurt because I cannot handle the situation.” He said looking away from her. “You know it took me a long time to find some that curse worked on. All the girls before Anabel, they all died within a matter of days.” He said looking. “I am worried Anabel’s body might give out on you, and then we’ll have to do all of this again, you will have to wait all over again. “Why do you think I am sending you guys to do all the things I should be doing?” she said shaking her head. “I know I’m weak, don’t ask me not to go to the vampire realm, I’m going they need to see me for real, otherwise they aren’t going to believe you and they might even try and kill you.” “I want you to stay back here though.” He said shaking his head. “Victor and I can handle the vampire realm.” “Marcus you cannot ask me to stay behind, they aren’t going to believe I am here unless they see me for themselves.” “She has a point, Marcus.” Daniel said appearing near the fridge. “I am sorry to stop in like this, but Drake is telling everyone you are working on an army?” he said shaking his head at the thought people already knew her plans.  “That little demon!” Hecta growled. “I want him brought to me; both of you better work it out and bring him now!” Marcus and Daniel disappeared.
