No coffee and breakfast were waiting for me in the morning this time, yet there was an apology coming from Jase. I shook my head and smiled. “I get it, don’t worry,” I said and petted the wolf. The answer was a muted whine and a thankful lick. I chuckled and kissed the beast’s nose. “I understand that your injuries need a bit more time and that they are still painful. I don’t want you to be in more pain than necessary, so I get it. I just don’t get why I can’t feel your pain.” I sighed and petted the wolf again. It was a slow day, and I didn’t mind it at all.
