The Harris General store was about to close down, the owner had left few minutes ago due to an emergency while his part time worker, Tiffany was left behind to close the shop down alone.
Keeping in mind the death rates and attacks on women going on in the recent times in the city of Edinburgh, the police department has announced for the shops to close down before the night and other such shops too, as the threat of the serial killer was on its peak.
Tiffany who was placing back the packets of washing powder kept outside the shop for advertising it as it was a new product, sighed and wiped her forehead. The evening's winds were slow and warm. She looked at the growing dark sky and around herself at the other shops those have already closed.
The Harris was the only store opened on the street. Tiffany picked up the remaining packets of detergent and dropped them in a plastic crate and pulled it up. She carried it inside the store and placed it in its usual place before turning to the counter.
The owner Mr. Harris would take away all the money to himself before the shop's closing so Tiffany had to worry less about any issue for today as there was no paperwork or calculation to be made. She just have to clean the empty shelves and mop the floor before exiting the shop.
Tiffany tiringly checked the time in her phone, it was 9.30 pm. She looked at the door with tired gaze before she went to get the mop and clean the floor. Her mind lingered on the possibility of her getting into any sort of danger. That is because weird things happened to her today.
The mopping was quickly done and now, it was time to finally clean the shelves and leave. Tiffany worked faster and harder while her heart beat in an unusual way. Don't why, but she was feeling a bit sick today. Uh, may be because the day was not so good!
Never mind, in another fifteen minutes and twenty seconds, Tiffany wrapped up all her pending work. Though she did it with half heart, she any way finished it and now it was ultimately the time for her to leave.
Having switched all the lights off and leaving the button of CCTV on, Tiffany exited the door and closed the shop for tonight. She sighed with a tainted smile as she carried her back pack and initiated her walk to her ultimate destination— home.
Her heart skipped beats when she entered the eerily dark street that she has to criss every day in order to reach the bus station. She hated the street because of its darkness and lack of light yet there was no other way to the bus station that offered the bus that goes to her address.
Any ways, she pocketed her hands and hummed. Humming was the only thing that worked for her and helped her forget about the dark street for a change. And currently, she was doing just the same.
Tiffany rubbed her eyes looking back at the mouth of the street she just entered, it was her habit. Growing up as a superstitious lady, she thought way too much and assumed heck of things. And checking behind her whether anyone was following her or not, was her daily routine.
Thankfully like any other night, there was nobody, but she alone, in the street. She had reached the middle of the street when her phone rang. Her fingers removed her cell phone from her back pack and smiled as it was Milay, her best friend.
"Hello!" Milay spoke on the other side of the phone.
"Hi buddy, how's your day?" Tiffany asked with a chuckle.
"Well I should be the one to ask you that babe!" her friend snapped back and the two ladies laughed together.
"Yeah, it was okay ishhh for me, you say... How is Brett." Tiffany asked as she continued walking ahead.
"It was great. We celebrated our four months engagement anniversary. I wished for you to come but you were busy!" Milay said in a sad tone.
Tiffany sighed on her end as she could really not make it to her anniversary . The day was bad, if you ask her.
"I am sorry, dude. But I told you I did not feel good. Today was extremely stressful." Tiffany replied.
"Oh, is that your douche ex-husband the reason behind the stress. Ugh, sometimes I feel like you should just kill him. Honestly that man has become a pain in your ass. Like really!" Milay grunted feeling bad for her friend.
Well cute looking Tiffany was a divorced woman. It has not even been two months to her wedding that her mother fucker husband broke up with her for another woman and divorced her. She was okay with the divorce as the days of married life was giving her more pain.
Daily beatings and domestic violence with harsh abuse was a daily routine for poor Tiffany. When things went over head, she agreed for a divorce even when it just had been two months to their wedding.
"Nope, Max is not the cause of my stress. Wish if I could say, he was!" Tiffany forced a laugh to ease her pain.
What would you expect a woman to do when she had to talk negative about the man she loved. What would she do more than laugh over him for having destroyed her life but still a part of her soul loved him!
It was useless, correct but Tiffany was a calmed and composed woman who had no grudges for her cruel husband.
Any ways, she breathed deeply, her eyes looking at her surrounding from the corner as she just felt like she sensed someone walking beside her. "Uh, I..." Tiffany immediately snapped her head back to look behind her. There was no one.
"What happened Tiff, why would you stop suddenly?" Milay asked.
"Ohh Milay I have wanted to tell you that I have not been feeling good since the morning. It feels like I am being stalked! And right now I just feel the same." Tiffany finally said it. "I feel like I am being watched. I don't know what to do. I don't see anyone but that feeling, that sense is there."
Listening to her friend's scared voice and the shocking revelation of feelings Milay replied, "What? Are you okay, why didn't you tell about this in the morning, Tiff? Where are you, tell me now. I will send Brett for your help."
Tiffany increased her speed, she looked back again as this time she sensed someone's hand trailing behind her back and push her back. "Aah, oh my god. Someone is here Milay. Someone is here!" Tiffany shouted as her speed increase. "It was not my assumption Milay, I was really being stalked." Tiffany rushed and ran.
"Tiffany..... Tihk n7rv"
Her tinkling key chain of the bag made chiming noise while she ran. Tiffany clutched the phone her palm and took a leap. "Hahs hahaha" she heard eerie laughs behind her back and screamed loudly.
Unfortunately her leg twisted, and she hit the ground, and she lost the hold of her phone and it fell away from her. "Please... Please let me go... Please!"
The phone's speaker turned on automatically and Milay's concerned voice echoed.
"Tiff... Hey, what's wrong. Where are you?" Milay's voice resonated in the empty street.
Tiffany who was crawling on her back and begging, "No, no... Please... Aahhh!" shouted and— she never spoke after that while her helpless friend kept shouting on the phone.

'Now, time for quick three news from yesterday— so the city of Edinburgh witnessed another murder case in the dark of the night the other night in the Wilson Street. And as usually, a woman was targeted yet this time.
The body was found by the sweeper in the early morning when he had visited the place for cleaning. It is believed that the murdered lady was a worker in a shop that is located near the Wilson street. Her body has been identified as Tiffany Cyrus.
The police has sent the body for postmortem and as usually, we could get no statement from the head police officer, Mr. Brent Grylls. He refused to give any statement for now and it again rises uncountable questions. Why is the police avoiding any encounter with the media?
Why don't they give us the answers as in who is killing the women? What is the intention of this homicidal maniac?
No matter what, we are right here with our audience to provide them information every minute. Keep watching, The Edinburgh Times.'
Officer Brent switched the TV off and threw the remote somewhere on his desk with a loud growl. "Maniac! I think that the media and these freaking news channels are the biggest Maniac. Just look at this fuss!" he snarled pointing at the TV that he just switched off whilst looking at his work mate and junior, Officer Charlie Hamilton.
"I feel you sir, but is there anything we can do rather than taking their false allegations on us! They are unfortunately right, we could not trace out even a single lead in these days and already thirteen murders happened." Officer Charlie Said.
Well it was the Edinburgh's head police station and the two officers just returned after capturing Tiffany's dead body. Not even have their say their asses on their chairs when one of their constables phoned and asked them to on the television and look at the news.
Not even had it been a few hours that they took the dead body of the murdered woman under their control that the news of the murder had already spread like wild fire.
It was a shame regardless the police was helpless and could not do anything but investigate day and night in order to catch the killer.
"You are right, Charlie. I think we should give up from this case! I am just tired of this crap. Honestly, I can't get up myself to the position and visit every new women who are murdered every second day. And their condition is heart wrenching!" officer Brent snapped looking out of the window with bars behind him.
He was sitting facing his desk and looking out at the small square shaped window. "Naked and bleeding women from their v*****s. Though that fact is different that they are not raped but brutally slaughtered, I still have don't get the case why are they left naked and hurt from their private areas. I swear this is really disturbing" Officer Brent was a middle aged man who was on his last few years of duty.
He would be retiring soon and such a case was making it difficult for him to continue. Indeed, the homicide have left not only the citizens of Edinburgh but also the police staff scared and shocked as they would have no clue who would he be killing the next!
Charlie sighed pursing his lips. He have worked for years with his senior co-worker officer Brent and seeing him look so tired and defeated, did not give him a good feeling. "Don't tell like that Sir, we still have a choice to make." Hearing Charlie speak that, officer Brent raised his eye brow.
"I mean, can't we call him, the Dubai's special sleuth!" Charlie's words made officer Brent's back to erect as he amusingly stared his junior.
Officer Brent took a deep breath before he exclaimed, "You mean that Casanova detective— Rishi Mathur!" he laughed looking up at the ceiling. "Oh no, I am sure you are not serious!" Charlie nodded his head in yes hence clearing it that he was damn serious and his senior's laughs died.
