6. The call from Edinburgh!

1416 Words
The looks of the head officer's face were worth watching. He sat stunned with a hung open mouth. There were wrinkles of uneasiness on his forehead as he gawked at his junior, officer Charlie. His this kind of expressions were justified though, for he was a well known Casanova brute in Dubai whose words were spread beyond seven oceans, in the other countries as well. However, there was something different about him that forced people to respect him. And it was his skills, his talent and fast brain and it's functioning while he worked as the famous detective! Unsettling as it was, it was still the truth that the Casanova detective Rishi Mathur held many medals and awards for solving the worst and most complicated cases after the other officers gave up. "I am sorry sir, but I am serious. We both know that only he can handle the case, this is what he is best at! And we can't do anything than seek his help— if we want to avoid any more murders!" Charlie shrugged his shoulders while he read the uneasiness on his senior officer's face. There was unfortunately a bitter yet humorous story behind Mr. Brent Grylls' abhorrence towards detective Mathur which was now stopping him from think over his junior's suggestion.  And that was— that Rishi Mathur was his only daughter's ex lover... A bad lover, to be honest.  His daughter was in Dubai for studies where she met him and fell in love with him but unfortunately she had no idea about Rishi's Casanova background and ended up getting hurt! Not even had she finished her degree that she came running back to Edinburgh and never visited Dubai ever again!  "Nope, I am not letting him enter this case. Not at least when I am the head in charge of it." Officer Brent vigorously shook his head, his eyes repudiating his looks though.  On the other hand officer Charlie suppressed his growing laughs behind his palms as he covered his mouth to pretend to be yawning. The scandal of officer Brent's daughter was famous in the city, especially within the police station amidst his co-workers.  Any ways Charlie maintained his posture and came back to the serious level of discussion. Even though his senior had a reason it cannot be avoided that the killer was still hanging out there amidst the crowd of Edinburgh and looking for his next target. "I can understand your emotion, sir. But you have to call him any way. Who know if your daughter is the next target!" no sooner officer Charlie snapped that than his senior officer stood up with a loud growl and glared him.  If eyes could eat someone than Charlie had been eaten alive by now. Any which ways Mr. Grylls looked over his exclamation and sighed. "I will think about it! But dare you... Dare you say that again for my daughter or else... Be ready to get a transfer" Officer Charlie's eyes widened in shock.  He chewed his cheek nodding his skull in understanding as he watched his senior going out of the exit not before taking his chapeau.  ******* Dubai,  The night life in Dubai has always been an extra ordinarily charming attraction for the visitor. From liquor to chicks— everything is available in plenty. From glamour to scenic beauty... It was a place that held everything for everyone.  While the flickering lights above the head of the restaurant, malls and bars on the names shimmered, equally strong music from each of the building echoed within the radius of their territory hence proving, the nights were a bliss.  "Wohoo! Come on babe, ride me!" Enjoyment was like pasted on everyone's faces in the Etisalat Resto bar, the famous night life entity of Dubai, as the pole dancers danced on the floor entertaining their eager visitors.  There was a shrill of excitement combined with pleasure while the booths in the corner laid busy with erotic couples enjoying the night except him, the guy sitting in his booth amidst his friends staring at the pole dancers swaying their hips and winking at the audience.  His eyes emotionlessly watched the dancers. No expression flashed on his face while his acquaintances enjoyed themselves. "By the way I have sh extremely weird news to share with you!" he ripped his gaze from the stages and stared back at his friend sitting next to him.  "Don't tell Rish, that you had a f*****g crazy convo with one of your ex-girlfriends!" they were five altogether, out of which the one with the tallest height, Jerry snapped.  Their Laughs bounced and shrieked as they all laughed but the guy with the cold emotionless stare. He sat unaffected with no smile creeping on his lips breathing slowly with a tainted roll of eyes. From the way he sat, leaning in the couch with folded arms in front of his chest, he seemed to be in some other world only.  "You were close, Jerry!" replied Rishi, the one who marked the start of this conversation. "It was not any ex-girlfriend's call though but her father's!" The three friends beside Rishi battled with their lashes as they severely blinked over his words.  Sitting on the couch and on the floor next to Rishi, in an attempt to hear him without any doubt, they three of them fixed their gazes on Rishi's face while Krish, one of the fives broke the silence. "What the f**k? Why." he inquired.  "Exactly, I hope he is not going to sue you!" the third friend Danish who has his hands rested on Rishi's knees remarked.  Rishi held a breath staring at his eager friends. He maintained a serious look since the piece of info he was going to reveal now would take their breaths away. "Uh, it was a professional conversation call." Rishi informed, his pupils moved to the corner of his eyes and stared his that friend in black who was sitting like a mute.  Rishi continued to stare his friend while he continued,  "From Edinburgh." Those two words were not any normal words, it spoke way too much and freshened some memories.  All of the guys in the booth erected their backs as their ears welcomed the unusual disclosure. Rishi saw a change in expression and posture in his friend's appearance and smiled sadly. He did not want to continue speaking of the conversation further, but he had to, because— he wanted his friend to listen and support him here.  Why? You'd know that soon.  "I was called by the head in charge, Mr. Brent Gyrlls from the Edinburgh's headquarters to discuss about the murder mystery case of the women. I am sure you must have heard about it in the news" The other three guys apart from Rishi and his friend nodded in yes.  Who would not have seen that news and stay unaware of the stupid homicidal maniac who was on a spree of killing women. Already thirteen murders were committed and still the Edinburgh police cannot find a lead to catch the killer or stop the further targets.  Just the mere disclosure of getting a call from the Edinburgh's headquarters gave the guys the idea that it was time for their friend to leave for his next mission since he was a gum shoe. And as the police was unable to come on any conclusion, they may have ultimately decided to hire him for the case.  "They found another body today, and they requested me to come over and take over the case as they can't find any lead themselves. We discussed almost everything and I may have to leave tomorrow for Edinburgh. And I was thinking it had been great if you guys could join me" Just as Rishi said that, then his friend who have now been a mute witness of the conversation split himself from the talk and got up to leave.  He collected his phone from the table across as he announced, "I should take your leave, there is an important meeting tomorrow. Can't wait to miss it." With no bye or retiring greetings, he swiftly exited the booth while his friends stared him with a sigh.  However, it was not the end of conversation, there was something else that needed to be discussed, thought Rishi. And so, with same speed as of his friend, he immediately separated himself the couch running behind his friend as he screamed his name in the way, "Riyan stop!"  Tbc...
