The Elite Academy is not for Me

Final Greetings

At last, the day which I had always feared had come. The day when I move into the hostel of the Magic Academy.

I was sleeping peacefully while dreaming about my past life.

All of a sudden a loud bang on the door wakes me up.

‘’ Reina, you stupid daughter. You are late for the academy. Why are you still sleeping? Wake up!’’.

The loud yelling of my dad outside my door helped me open up my eyes even without my will.

I peeked my head out of the blankets, taking in the fresh air.

‘’ Reina!’’ dad yelled again.

I had to put away the covers and wake up.

I jumped down right away and ran to the door.

I peeked out of the doorknob and dad banged on the door again.

‘’ Reina! Wake up, you stupid daughter. You have to go to Academy!’’.

I opened up the door right away so that he won’t shout again.

‘’ Yes, yes, dad, I am awake. Don’t shout in my ears.’’

Dad frowned back at me and pulled me by the ears.

‘’ When did you go to sleep last night?’’.

‘’ What? Why do you want to know that?’’.

‘’ Speak up!’’.

‘’Well…..around…..one…or two...I guess.’’

‘’ I was reading books, like the novels and all….that’s…why…’’ I peeked at him only to see a smile appearing on his face.

‘’ Then may I know why were you munching on foods while reading? The plates from the kitchen are lying on the table. Do you think I haven’t seen that?’’.

His smile may be one of the scariest things on earth.

When he smiles I feel scared.

‘’ When did you see them? I just opened the door?’’ I stuttered.

‘’ With just one glance, this,’’ he picked up some pieces of the cookies which I was eating last night from the corners of my mouth and handed them over to me.

‘’ At least hide the proof of your crimes after doing it. Stupid.’’

He should be a detective. He realized so many things with just a glance.

My dad impresses me sometimes.

‘’ Go and get ready in your usual clothes. Your uniform will be given in the Academy.’’

‘’ Now hurry up!’’.

He closed the door in my face.

I heaved a sigh and retired to my bed, melting in the soft touch.

‘’ M’lady, please get ready,’’ the maid interrupted opening the door.

‘’ At least, let me sleep will you?’’ I shouted.

As we were having breakfast, Dad kept glaring at me instead of eating.

I knew right away something was going on his mind right away. So I asked,’’ Dad, is there-‘’ he interrupted.

‘’ You will be living away from us. Keep in mind that, we will be always by your side to support you. Don’t forget that ever. And behave well with others. Visit your mom before leaving.’’

‘’ She must be happy to see you go.’’

He kept staring down at his hands while saying that.

He was a little bit down to see me leaving. Though I knew myself he would be down.

I got up from the chair, and moved to his side, and hugged him from behind.

‘’ Dad, I’ll miss you a lot.’’

He didn’t respond right away. But I was able to see tears that were at the corner of his eyes.

He tried his best to hide them from me.

‘’ Behave well there. Don’t you dare ruin my reputation? And….i’ll miss you as well. Take care dear.’’

‘’ Oh, dad. I love you.’’

‘’ Same here you stupid daughter. Write to me from time to time. And come to visit whenever you will be free. I’ll be waiting to see you.’’

‘’I know, thanks.’’

After that, before I left I went to meet Mom. 

I stood in front of her picture and stared at it. Whenever she took pictures, she was always smiling. Even though she was suffering from such a big disease which I had heard from dad, she always smiled without letting anyone find out that she was sick. 

I only wanted to know how could such a bright person like her can die. She never wanted anything bad to happen to anyone. Then why did all the bad have to happen to her? 

'' Reina, Hurry up,'' Dad called me from outside the door. 

'' Mom, I know that you are not my real mom. But these days I am starting to think that the man who's pampering me and scolding me is my real dad. So I think of you as my real mom as well. Before I leave I want to have a proper talk with you.'' 

'' Take care of Dad. I bet he's going to be lonely a lot after I go away. Please take care of him, will you? he doesn't take care of himself. So please remind him to eat on time.'' 

'' Though aunty Polina is always ready to talk with him, he still isn't talking with her. When will he start to realize that she likes him? What's wrong with having a buddy whom you can talk with right?''. 

'' Who'll help him to realize this? Anyway.'' 

I heaved a sigh and gave a smile to her. 

'' Take care of yourself and him. I'll be back and become a wonderful Wizard, or so. Wish I could escape from this situation. There's no way to turn back.'' 

'' Ahem,'' dad coughs from outside the room. 

'' Yes, coming.'' 

'' This girl, even though she pretends she doesn't care about the things around her. She's a good observer. I need to talk with Miss Polina from time to time.'' 

'' See you later.'' 

Reina opened the door only to see her dad leaning onto the door with a smile on his face. 

'' Why are you grinning?'' I asked. 

'' What? I am not grinning. Let's go. Did you talk with your mom?''.

'' Yup,'' I gave a smile back. 

'' Come then.'' 

The maid stood at the doorway and hugged me. 

'' Take care of dad.'' 

'' Of course Mistress. Do your best at the Magic Academy. I'll be waiting to see you soon.''

And this starts my journey to the Magic Academy. Who knows what else I'll have to face after this. Magic Academy I am coming. 

Please don't make any more problems for me there. I'll just graduate without any problems at all.
