The Elite Academy is not for Me

‘’ No! I don’t want to die!’’ I yelled loudly, opening my eyelids in surprise. Sweats are rolling down my face. Some of it dropped onto the bedsheets making it stained with sweat. I stopped panting heavily. I look around to find myself in a different room than my own. What am I doing in this place? This is not my room, is it? Wait, I was on the rooftop wasn’t I ? then what am I doing in this room?. How am I even alive in the first place?. I remember clearly, I had jumped back then. The flashbacks of my memories come back to me little by little. The image of some people crying in the hospital, the image of my mom and dad crying. I was sweating so much the locks of my hair stuck to my forehead. I looked around to see myself in a fancy house, with accessories and statues here and there. This is not my house. Who brought me into their house after I had jumped down?. I should get up. I pulled away from the bedsheets and got up from the bed, dragging my feet. I stood in front of the big mirror. I was tracing my face and head. There is not even a trace of wound or anything. Has medical science evolved so much that there are no marks after the surgery?. I’m alive, isn’t it? This is not a dream?. I stared at my reflection, not able to believe what I’m seeing. All of a sudden someone opens the door to the room. ‘’ Are you up already Reina?’’. I glanced back to see the figure who called me. It was a man of forty-five or six, with a grey beard and brown hair. The way he was dressed inexpensive fabric, I could only think of him as a rich man. I faced him in reply,’’ yes, I’m awake.’’ The man smiled. ‘’ If you are awake then get back to studying. There is only one day left for you to study for the entrance examination in the magic academy. You’d better study after this,’’ he pulled me by the ear roughly. ‘’ Study? But why? Who are you anyway telling me to study?’’ I asked back in reply. His eyebrows raised in reply. ‘’ You are acting like this towards the man who raised you? How much ungrateful can you be to your dad? You need to receive some punishment for this. Freshen up and have breakfast and study afterward.’’ ‘’ I’ll watch over you all day.’’ ‘’ What?’’. My life drastically changed afterward. From what I managed to gather till now, that the man whom I had met with earlier is my dad. His name is Florence Duke. And this is his house which I’m living in. after being treated to a gorgeous meal, he took me to the library in the house. But it was no different than a big study hall. ‘’ And here are the books,’’ he said placing the rows of books on the table. It was high enough to reach the ceiling. ‘’ Why do I have to study all of them within one day?’’ I slapped hard on the table. ‘’ Cause you are the one who had spent all of your time-wasting here and there with planting vegetables. So you gotta study hard,’’ replied the man hitting me with the corner of the book in his hand. ‘’ Ouch, show some restraint will you?’’ I was rubbing the spot which was hurt. ‘’ Anyway, I won’t hear a thing. Do whatever you want to. But you have to pass the exam this time. Or else…..’’. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, giving a scary look at me. ‘’ Or else?’’. ‘’ I’ll throw you out of the house,’’ he replied with a pretty smile. ‘’ Now study hard.’’ He left right away after that.  What? Now I have to study all of this? What are the books about anyway?. I opened a book to see the contents. It was mathematics. I hate maths. What else do we have? Literature and….this is no. my head is spinning. Why did I come here anyway?. Why is this man saying he’s my dad? What is this place anyway?. It was after that, I started to dwell in this place for a while, and got to know a lot of things. The place where I’m currently staying is the kingdom of Miller, which is ruled by King Ryder who’s one of the most honorable and kind kings in history.   This is a completely different world than the one I have come from. And even though I don’t want to admit it, I have died in my previous life, and I’m reborn in Miller. None of this is bad, as I’m given a second chance to live. Still, it's hard to think what trick life is playing with me. Though nothing is more horrifying than, the reality that I have to give the entrance exam today in the Academy. After this the results will be out within a week, then the classes will finally start. I went to the exam hall with trembling and shaking hands and legs. We were instructed to go to room number 001. I peeked inside the room, to see all the students at present in there. Only one seat at the front is empty, which is mine. At last, the exam started. My mind went blank to see the question paper in front of me. God kill me. I can’t take this anymore. What I studied last night is killing me. How will I pass? But I have to. Or else that man, I mean my dad will kick me out of the house. So I gotta pass no matter what. With the ringing of the bell, the exam started. After three hours the exam ended leaving me completely drained with no thoughts in my head. ‘’I wanna have fun, stop making me sit for exams,’’ I yelled in my mind. ‘’ Let me get back home will you?’’. And this is how my life at Miller started along with my dad. I wonder what I will have to face in the future.
