Chapter 3

426 Words
Regina woke to the sound of it a car horn honking and remembered the boy who took her home the night before. Getting dressed and rushing out to meet him, Regina hopped into the car as they drove back to the beach to retrieve Regina's car so she could get to work. "So, do you always come to the aid of a damsel in distress?" Regina said to break the ice between them. The boy continued driving making no reply. "Okay, he's the silent type?" Regina whispered to herself. Finally, after several minutes, he finally spoke, "I'm Jaden." "Well, Jaden, it's nice to meet you." Regina replied. Regina and Jaden got to know each other better, but when Jaden reached the beach parking lot where Regina's car was parked, Regina hopped out and drove away before Jaden could say another word. Regina was late and had to be at work as her boss was a stickler for tardiness. When Regina arrived at work, she grabbed what she thought was her bag, but was a bag with her favorite strawberry wine, "I wonder where this came from?" Regina asked herself. But she would have to worry about it later as she needed to get inside, but she didn't realize she was being followed. After her shift was over, Regina arrived home to an empty house and a note from her mother telling her she had to go into the office and would be home late, and her sister, Kaidence, was working and a date with her boyfriend, Jenkins, and her father was away for a week on business. After reading the note, Regina peeked into the fridge to find that her mother had left some leftover chicken divan. After eating the cold casserole--the way she liked it--Regina went up to her bedroom and lay on her bed. But after not being able to get any sleep, Regina picked up the novel she had been reading on her night stand, "Little Women", and turned to the bookmarked page and started reading. But she couldn't concentrate because all she could think about was the boy she met at the beach, Jaden. She wondered if she'd ever see him again. At Jaden's, Jaden too, was thinking about the girl he met. He was the one following Regina because she never left her name and Jaden wanted to see if he could see where she lived so he could ask to see her again. He would swing by Regina's in the morning to ask her. Right now he'd get some sleep.
