Chapter 2

523 Words
Regina woke up the next morning, the sun streaming through her bedroom window. What a glorious day it was going to be, Regina thought, as she jumped out of bed and retrieved her clothes she had laid out the night before. After getting dressed, Regina went into the bathroom and washed and dried her face and put her long blonde tresses into a messy bun tied with a scrunchie. It was her day off before going back to work. Regina couldn't believe her supervisor gave her one night before scheduling her to work?! After finishing up with her hair, Regina went downstairs to join her family for breakfast. But when she got to the table, no one was there. Instead, there was a note from her mother: Regina, Had to take your sister to the hospital as she came down with the flu. Your father left for work. There are eggs and bacon on the stove. Enjoy your breakfast. See you soon! Love, Mom Yep! That was her family! Always on the go?! They never found any time to just hang for one meal! Feeling rejected again, Regina gobbled her now cold breakfast and grabbed the sack lunch and a bottle of strawberry wine her mother packed before heading out. Then, after locking up the house, Regina hopped into her VW bug and drove the 15-minute drive to the beach for a relaxing day of fun, even if she would be alone. Regina loved her quiet moments to herself, so it wasn't like she was disappointed. Her life revolved around being by herself frequently. Her family was always busy with work and school. And now that Parker was off in boot camp, Regina was officially solo. Regina pulled into the parking lot of the beach and parked her VW bug in a parking spot away from the other cars so as to not get any dings. After taking the key from the ignition, Regina grabbed her beach essentials, locked up the bug and walked a half mile to her favorite spot on the beach. As she walked, the sun on her face and wind through her blonde tresses, Regina felt invigorated and she removed her white cover-up revealing her purple bikini that allowed her to get a slight tan as she walked. She was slightly disappointed when she saw a group of teens already at her spot. "Drats! Someone's already here!" Regina thought to herself, as she debated whether or not she should leave. One boy motioned for her to join them and Regina decided to do just that. Setting her lunch on her blanket, Regina joined the group in the water. Regina was too busy with the others to notice one of the boys interest in her. It wasn't until Regina felt tired from all the frolicking and drinking, that she felt a little tipsy, when the boy who was interested in her offered to drive her home. "What about my car?" Regina asked. "Leave it here and tomorrow I'll come by and drive you back to retrieve it." the boy said. "Okay. Thanks." Regina said as she climbed into the car.
