Olivia happily watched Dave rise up very early in the morning for the purpose of meeting up with his father and brother in order to discuss the plan for the new territory. Reluctantly, his dad had given him a portion of the land as his own and had allowed him to select any wolf he wishes to be a member of his new clan. So many wolves volunteered to come along due to how much they loved his reign. Though he was harsh, he never avoided his duties towards them. The whole strategy was going as planned however. What was left was the approval from the other clans and it turns out to be the most difficult of all the processes. Gerald had to send words to the leaders of the other 5 clans announcing to them the opening of another. This would certainly take time especially with the terrible relationship between his clan and the rest. They never liked them due to their greed for more power.  It's been a week since the tournament and the message being sent. Though they were yet to get a response Olivia could see a ray of hope in her lovely wolf's eyes as he inspected his list with a smile having the dreams of starting off afresh. They both sat beside the fireplace listening to the beautiful songs to the birds. Though Dave had kept himself busy staring at his plan list, Olivia stared up at the sky wondering how life could be back in the palace. How was Bianca? Was she fine? Had she put the poor lady in trouble now? She didn't realize Dave put down his scroll and walked toward her, joining her in the meditative state.  "You love staring at the sky when you are bored. I am sure it's a lady's thing," he said.  "I am not just staring at the sky. I am staring at the beautiful birds. They make the best natural music", she said in smiles as she turned to stare at him. She didn't realize how closely he sat beside her. Their faces were a few inches away from each other. She felt her heart leap and her hands shiver but she wasn't ready to stare away this time. She had always avoided what she felt and tried pretending there was nothing going on with her. That was certainly a lie! She felt something. Her heart yearned for him. She couldn't stop feeling what she actually felt for him. Was she in love with him? Was this what she felt right now? Love? She noticed he hadn't stared away as well and had his eyes locked in hers. She knew she could make her way for a kiss now. Was it going to be right though? Should she do it? Without thinking too much, she made her way to bring her lips closer to his but he turned away immediately and stared back at the sky.  "What do you fancy about the birds?" He continued pretending she hadn't done anything. She felt really hurt and upset. Who did he think he was? She decided to say nothing. Instead she stood up and made her way into the cave away from the entrance. Dave hadn't looked back. He'd taken it as the fact she didn't want to talk but she had wanted to. Whatever reaction he gave her hurt her so badly. As she stooped low to pick up a leaf which was lying lifelessly at her bedding spot, she felt her head get drowsy. She wasn't sure of what was wrong with her. She tried ignoring it and resting on the wall for a while hoping she would get better but she wasn't getting better. She lost consciousness and fell down flat on the floor causing a very loud thud. Dave got alerted by this and turned into the cave immediately to see what was going on. The sight of Olivia on the floor got him really confused and worried for her. He checked her pulse to see if she was breathing fine and heaved with relief when he realized she was. Wiping the dust off her face, he sent for his mum immediately.  "You will be fine. I promise" He assured her watching one of the servants walk off to fetch his mum. *** The amount of impatience Dave felt was enough to ruin everything for him. His mum had promised to inform him what was wrong with Olivia when she completed her diagnosis but the lady seemed to be taking hours in there. She wasn't showing signs of coming out any time soon. Trying to distract himself, Dave tried counting the number of stones he saw on the dirty sand in front of him but that didn't help. His mind was restless. He wasn't aware he could actually feel worried for someone this much in his life. Did he really care for her that much? His mum finally walked out to join him but the look on her face wasn't encouraging at all. She seemed more angry than worried.  "Mum, what's wrong with her?" He asked with a worried tone.  "Let's go somewhere private" She insisted on pulling him away from the cave toward a small bush where she was sure no one went. " Why did you lie to me Dave?"  "Mum, what do you actually mean?" He asked in confusion. "You disobeyed the law and crossed the line you i***t" She whispered to him angrily though no one was around.  "I never care about these laws. It shouldn't surprise you if I disobey anyone"  "Sure. It shouldn't. Well, her life has always been in danger anyways. How does this not surprise me?"  "Mum, what's wrong with her?" He asked again with a more worried tone now.  "She is pregnant" She responded with a disappointed look. "I knew something was wrong with her dress the first day I saw her. I knew she had stained due to the carelessness you had caused because I saw no bruises in her despite your stupid lie that she had wounded. I wanted to ignore this mistake because I thought your disobedience wouldn't yield anything. Well now I am wrong because it did!"  Dave was dumbstruck for a few seconds. He wasn't sure of how to react to this news his mum had presented to him. When he'd recovered his words though, he didn't seem to feel terrible about the news. What concerned him was his wife's wellbeing.  "Is she doing okay?" He asked, ignoring his mum's rants.  "She is doing fine. She just woke up though but I haven't told her about this yet. Look Dave, you need to abort that baby before anyone finds out…"  "Excuse me?!" He yelled out in shock. "How dare you mother?" "What do you mean, how dare me? Your dream is at stake here. You know your father seeks any opportunity to stop your territory thing from happening. If he finds out she is pregnant, he is going to stop the deal, you are going to step down being an Alpha and you will lose respect before the whole territory. Your wife and child will be killed before your eyes Dave"  "I am not so weak that I will watch a single finger being placed on my mate. Nothing will ever happen to her as long as I am here. I won't allow at harm come on the baby either"  "What nonsense are you saying now! She will be dead by next two weeks anyway. Why do you wish to sacrifice your self respect for her?" "You like her mother. Why talk like this about her?"  "Of course, I agree I like her and I won't deny  it. But we are wolves. We have a territory, we have a clan, we have authority, we have the power. I won't let you lose face in front of the other wolves due to a human girl. It has always been their fate to die. You can't prevent that…"  "STOP! I can't hear this anymore. She is my mate and I will decide whatever fate she has! Just don't tell anyone about the baby. I will tell her myself" He insisted before walking out on his mother with an angered but worried look. His mum watched him leave with a distressed stare wondering what to do to curb the situation. Unfortunately, she hadn't noticed Zach's wife Becky behind an orange tree with her mouth open in aghast having eavesdropped on their conversation rudely. The jealousy she felt knew no bound as she'd know she alone had the right to give birth to the next Alpha and not the Alpha himself. It wasn't according to the customs. Without wasting any more time, she hurried off toward her cave to meet up Zach who was smoking weed.  "Dear! Dear! Do you hear me?" She asked with a worried look as she noticed her husband in a very unpleasant state.  "I am fine. What's wrong?" He asked, puffing out the smoke.  "You won't believe the news I heard. I didn't expect your brother to actually double cross us but today I overheard your mum announcing to him Olivia was pregnant. Is that even allowed in this clan? An Alpha can't get his lady pregnant. She is supposed to die. She is supposed to be a means to power right? She shouldn't continue the lineage" Zach seemed really shocked on hearing this. He stood up immediately trying to take in what he had just heard. "Zach we need to convince him to abort that baby"  Zach hadn't said much. He raced out of his cave immediately.  *** Dave feigned a smile at Olivia trying to act as normal as possible but deep down in his heart he felt really scared for her and was scared to lose her in any way. For the first time in his life, he could assure himself he really cares about this lady so much. It was unusual but he actually did and he wouldn't deny that. He often got lost in her gazes and he couldn't tell why. He often felt tempted to hold her very close. He often felt tempted to touch those lips of hers and smell the scent of her skin even more but he couldn't get himself to do it because it dealt with emotions and he never wanted to feel emotions. But no matter how much he fought it, he couldn't stay away from her in any way. He couldn't bear seeing her hurt. He was an Alpha and it was his duty to protect her, even if it involved sacrificing all the dreams he had since he was a kid. She had a baby on the way crying out loud. He couldn't put her life at risk. He'd noticed her angry and snobby look. Knowing she might be upset with him for some reason he knew nothing about, he drew her close for a hug.  "I am sorry for whatever hurt I must have caused. Please forgive me" he apologized although not sure for what reason. "You really don't know how to consider others feelings but it's my bad, I am sorry as well for trying to follow my heart and thinking there could be anything between us" She responded coldly drawing herself away from him.  "I try hard to be considerate. I am so sorry" he apologized again hoping she would listen but she didn't. Instead, she stared around perhaps looking for someone.  "Your mum was here a few minutes ago, she didn't tell me what happened to me. What's wrong?" She asked.  "Well, you are going to be a mother," he replied. He could notice the confused and shocked look on her face. He could tell she wasn't even getting this at all.  "Baby?" She tried confirming in shock.  "Yes but I promise I won't let any harm come to you and the child…"  "This is stupid. I can't have this baby. I don't want this baby!" She protested in frustration.  "What the hell are you saying?"  "Open your eyes Dave! This is a charade. This is like a joke. How can we raise a baby like this? Is it even possible for us to raise a baby at all? In a few weeks I will be killed...even if I am not killed, we don't love each other. Your parents' customs will always get in the way of the child's upbringing. Your negligence toward me will as well affect the poor baby. How can we have a baby like this when we cannot even show affection to each other?"  "You are wrong Olivia. There is affection between us" he tried explaining.  "What sort of affection? Friendship affection? What the heck are you telling me?" She compelled him to speak. He could feel his heart race faster than usual and his hands went cold. He held her closer by grabbing her shoulder and tried saying something but he stopped. He wasn't even sure of how to express how he felt. Whatever he felt seemed too complex for him to understand.  "Why don't you just say how you feel about me Dave?" She pleaded with teary eyes.  "Nothing will happen to you or the baby" he finally said and gazed at her lips for a short while before letting her go feeling so frustrated for himself. He hadn't expected  her soft hands to wrap around his waist in affection.  "You don't have to tell me anything anymore. I can read it in your eyes that you really feel a great affection for me. You find it difficult to express it but your beautiful eyes say it all " She told him softly. He rubbed her back slowly and immediately let go as he caught sight of his brother rushing in.  "Dave, you must abort the baby" He said as he walked in. Olivia let go of Dave immediately.  "I will take responsibility for him. There is no need to fear" he responded, trying to sound as nice as possible. "It's not about taking responsibility over him. It's about your reputation and dreams Dave. We have worked so hard to get you close to achieving your clan. Will you give it all up for a human girl?"  "She is not just any human girl to me. She is my mate" "So many Alphas have had their mates who ended up being killed by their own Alphas. Why show so much concern for her when it won't last?" These words seemed to have angered Dave so much because he immediately growled at his brother with his iris turning dark red in anger. His brother got shocked at his reaction.  "GET OUT!"
