Chapter 4: What have hurt

“Bad, tired, constant nausea.” Lisa replied to him. He kept a straight face while nodding his head, gathering all the information from her.

“Headache?” He asked, like suggesting.

“Sometimes.” Seeing Dr. Mikhail expression, Luis got curious.

“What is it?” Luis asked.

“You might have come to the wrong doctor. But we can check to make sure.” Dr. Mikhail said ambiguously, confusing the kids.

“What is that mean?” Luis asked again, getting impatient by his ambiguous answer.

“When was the last time you had s*x, Lisa?” He ignored Luis’ question and ask a question to Lisa instead. Luis turned to look at her too, expecting an answer. And Lisa is being cautioned, her heart started to beat faster. It felt like her heart is going to burst out of her chest.

“When, Lisa? Answer him.” Luis pressured her to answer the question. Her silence is only killing him. He needs to know right away, so he get what the problem is with her.

“The party.” She finally answered in a low tone.

“So, you’re pregnant? Is that why you asked me to bring you to Dr. Mikhail?” Luis asked, anger risen because of her. He can’t believe that she could be this reckless kid to get impregnate by a boy who might run away after finding out. They might agree that she dated, but not to the point to get her pregnant like this.

“Why are you getting angry like this?!” Lisa who thought that Luis might be her comfort at a moment like this is hurt by his reaction.

“Because you just got knocked up by that guy who you thought was good for you. I’ll tell you what, he will bolted out of your life after finding out that you’re--,” Lisa’s blood is boiling seeing him acting like this and he’s talking nonsense about Lucas.

“You have no right to talk to me like this. You’re not mother nor father.” She’s breathing heavily after talking to him out of anger. She couldn’t believe that he talked her down like that. “And the baby is not his! So, don’t talk about Lucas like that.” Even though at a time like this, she can’t let someone talk badly about Lucas. Lucas is nothing but a responsible guy and she knew it. Lisa looked at her brother with so much hatred.

“Luis, calm down. Your reaction is too much for her.” Dr. Mikhail stepped in between the sibling fight before it gets too far. “You can just wait outside while I check on her. Get some fresh air and clear your mind before you regret it.” He told him, reminding him that the situation can get very bad if he didn’t calm down.

Without being told twice, Luis got up from the chair, making a loud noise from the chair being draw back and left the room with anger still boiling up. As soon as he left the room, tears streaming down her cheeks. She sobbed, feeling hurt that her brother didn’t support as she thought he would. But she didn’t see that coming either.

“Hey, it’s okay. He’s just worry about you and looking out for you.” Dr. Mikhail tried to comfort her with his words, that’s the least he can do. What he said was not a lie either. He can see that Luis really loves her and is worried about her, because she is his only little sister. “Would you like to know how far along you are right now? We can do that, then after that you should talk to your mother. She had a personal doctor while she was pregnant with the three of you. So I think it will be safer that way.”

Lisa just nodded, agreeing to whatever he said. She felt alone without her mother here, she need her here right now.

After she was done with the checkup, Dr. Mikhail gave her the ultrasound pictures and told her that she is around a month in the pregnancy. The cherries was the proof she didn’t noticed. Jacques was right, she hated cherries.

She walked out of the doctor’s office and found Luis leaning against the wall. But she ignored him and just keep walking, making her way out of the hospital. She’s still upset with him, she can get home with the public transportation. She doesn’t want to talk to him for the moment.

“Where the f**k are you going?” Luis asked her as he saw her walking to the other way. He frowned seeing her didn’t stop walking, then he stopped walking after her. He just watched her from his spot and he is honestly felt awful for saying those things to her. He was rather upset to himself, because he can’t protect her and keep her safe. She’s still his baby sister after all and seeing her making that reckless decision was just out of his mind.

He let her be and just asked one of his man to keep an eye on her until she arrive home safely. He will deal with her later after she tell mother and father about her pregnancy. He will just do whatever their father tell them to do after they find out. He will just keep an eye out for her until then.

She took the bus to the café. Since she doesn’t have any classes for today, she’s just going to relax her mind and try to not think too much about what Luis said to her earlier. She still have to talk to Lucas and she doesn’t know how to tell him. He will feel betrayed and hurt, she doesn’t want to do that to him. And what will happen to their relationship? Is he going to break up with her right away? Will he be mad? Of course he will, what kind of question did she just thought?

She is contemplating whether to call him now or just wait for him to come home. Have he finished the test?

Her heart won’t be at peace if she haven’t told him and she needs to tell him, she can’t hide it and he will find out either way. Because, a pregnancy is something obvious to the eyes. She can’t get rid of the bump when she feel like it. There’s a reason why she can walk freely to this day. That is because she was not exposed since the day she was born. She never associated with her family in public.

Argh, her head is aching just by thinking of how she will tell Lucas. She love him too much to hurt him that way. And then, there’s her parents as well.
