Ella's POV
Remo was in the bathroom, and I waited for him to get out, as I didn't know what to do. His bloodied clothes were scattered on the floor. I approached them slowly, but the smell was killing me.
How does it feel to kill someone? Will I be able to kill someone in the future?
Helplessness was a nasty feeling. When I was still living with my parents, my dad used to say it, but I never believed him. I didn't know what helplessness was, but now I do. I do know that I can't do anything if someone decides to make me a rogue.
I can't even be sure that Remo will keep me with him. I looked at my face in the mirror and noticed how my face was less lifeless than when I came here. My dark circles started to fade and my eye color popped.
I jumped back when the bathroom door opened and Remo came out with a towel wrapped around his torso.
As usual, he had a scowl on his face. My body warmed under his gaze and goosebumps marred my body. As our gazes locked, an electric current of desire coursed through my body. I wasn't naive, I knew what desire between two werewolves are.
"What are you thinking about, mate?" Remo asked.
"Who did you kill?" I dared to ask.
Remo raised an eyebrow but smirked. I knew he will give me an answer but I was afraid that I would not like the answer. He went to the closet and came back after some minutes.
"You may want to sit down." He said and I looked at the bed and nodded. I sat down but he kept standing.
I looked at his face and waited for him to talk.
“I have duties mate. It is a must when I kill someone. I want you to know that. When a traitor is among us, I can’t let him roam between us.” He started and I shivered when he lowered his tone.
“Okay.” I replied waiting for him to continue.
“You have to know that you are safe here with me.” He said approaching me slowly.
My heart skipped a beat, this time not from fear, but from another feeling.
Slowly, he put his hand on my cheek and caressed it slowly. I never imagined that his touch can be soft, especially that those hands just killed someone a few hours ago.
“I will kill any person I feel that will threaten my pack. But I will tear apart anyone that dares to threaten you, mate.” He whispered, his eyes softening for the first time.
In this moment, I felt safe with him. I felt like Dean’s rejection was a blessing for me. He was nowhere near Remo’s strength, and I thank the moon goddess for giving me a second chance with someone better.
“I know you will.” I replied and he seemed surprised that I didn’t stutter this time.
“There are things you don’t know mate. You will be scared when you do.” His nose was touching mine.
“As long as you keep me safe, I won’t.” That surprised the both of us.
It was as if it was a normal conversation between us. As if I knew him for decades. As if I was never abused before. Even my inner scars were healing.
“Good.” He replied and pulled back. I felt a sliver of disappointment.
“I want you to get ready. We will have dinner together.” He said entering the closet and coming back a few minutes later fully dressed.
“Okay.” I nodded and he stared at me for a couple of minutes and left me alone in the room.
I immediately stood up and went to get dressed as the dinner will be in 2 hours.
I jumped when I heard a knock on the door.
“Come in.” I said and a young lady entered the room with a smile on her face.
“Luna! It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” She beamed and I smiled back at her.
“Hello. Who are you?” I asked.
“I’m Talia. The royal family’s helper.” She replied. “King Remo ordered me to help you get ready.” She said putting her back on my dresser.
“What is there?” I asked inspecting the back suspiciously.
“My make up. I will help you with it.” She replied instructing me to sit in front of the mirror.
“I d-don’t need m-make up.” I tried to argue with her but she was adamant on it.
“I won’t put much. I will just enhance your beauty.” She smiled.
I thought about it for a minute. What would happen if I put some make up on my face. It will be my first time and there was no harm to try it.
She started by putting something nude under my eyes.
“What is this?” I asked.
“It’s a concealer. It will remove your eye bags.” She winked and I blushed.
She then started with my eyes, giving me instructions and naming the make up products.
I was relaxed the whole time. Giving her full access to my face.
Half an hour later, she was finished. I opened my eyes and looked at my face.
“You look stunning.”
I didn’t recognize myself at first. My blue eyes were popping and my lashes were full. On my eyelids there was a faint pink color. My freckles were more prominent, and she said that she won’t put foundation to hide them.
“Let’s get you dressed.” She said pulling me to the closet, that was full with clothes.
Remo sure filled it with so many, more than I would need.
“Put on this dress.”
