Chapter 12

565 Words
The door of the couple’s room opened, and both Charles and Eleanor came out, holding each other’s hand. Rey and the servants smiled. They have been waiting for both of them to come out. “Good morning, sir Charles and ma’am Eleanor,” they sounded in chorus. “Good morning,” Charles smiled from ear to ear. The servants were taken aback. They have never seen him as happy as this before. Yes, he smiled, but not as wide and bright as this. He was the serious type who didn’t let himself lose. “Is everything ready?” Charles broke the silence. “Yes, sir.” “Then let’s go.” Charles cannot hide the happiness inside him. When the couple passed them, the servants looked at each other with wonder and amazement. Who is this woman? It’s amazing that she changed their master from a grumpy person to a happy one in such a short time. What’s more? Their master is getting married with her, their master who never allowed any woman, especially young ones, to come close to him. Who is she? They can’t figure out. They looked at Rey who was happily staring at the couple’s back. Surely, he knows who she is. “What are you waiting for? Why are you not following them?” Rey brought the servants back to reality. “Oh, sorry sir,” the servants said again. Then they hurriedly followed the couple. When they reached the door, Charles looked back. They can still see his face filled with joy and contentment. “We’ll see you in a few.” With those words, he once again sent a question in the servants’ minds. Charles can clearly see the reactions of Rey and his servants around him and Eleanor. He is sure that they are wondering regarding Eleanor’s real identity. Except some close friends, no one on the island knew about his past. By maintaining his secrets, it would be safer since there is a lesser chance that somebody would accidentally spill the beans, Charles thought. Then he led Eleanor to the car waiting to take them to the wedding site. Eleanor looked at him, her face shining like that of an angel. “I would never regret this day marrying you,” she said with a sweet smile. Charles looked intently at her in the eyes. “Me, too, my love. I will always keep this day in remembrance,” he responded then kissed Eleanor’s forehead. Peace. Both of them felt peace in their hearts. It’s amazing what love can do, healing years of pain and separation. Charles stared at Eleanor whose head is rested on his chest. I hope you will mean what you just said even after you regain your memories, he spoke to himself. If If only I could just blot out the negative memories we have, he wished once again. Ah, no matter what happens in the future after you regain your memories, I will keep you. I will fight for you if need be. With this, he again planted a kiss at her forehead. Sensing his kiss, Eleanor looked up and looked at him in the eyes. “Charles, I love you,” she whispered.
