Chapter 6

Alpha Aedion POV

“Alpha, we have got some rogue scent on our pack territory. It is on the far end of the border” says Adolf to me.

 Rogue, that one word makes my blood boil. A rogue, who is selfish for their own needs and can use us for their own pleasure. Rogue is someone who fools you and make sure you are left with nothing at the end. I have first hand experience with the rogue. To say that I am angry could be an understatement.

I am livid at this moment. Those who know me as Alpha Aedion, knows not to cross my territory. And a rogue at that, he or she really must be fool to trespass my pack. They surely have a death wish. Otherwise which fool would dare step on my land.

The mystic shadow pack is known by my rules, my vengeance towards all the rogue is way before then what has happened. Rogues are also someone who has took away my mom from me. They will know the terrible pain that I am going to cause them for the mistakes that one of them did.

“where?” I wanted to know the exact place.

“We are going there now. I request you to keep your calm Alpha. We will get you the rogue” he advised me. Adolf is someone who is known to be very calm and sensible in all these kinds of situations. Where I get angry and power makes the front person submit to it, he is someone who patiently waits for it to calm down and then explains why I should listen to him.

“why do you think I will wait here when there is a rogue out there who is here to hurt everything that I have built till date?” I snapped at him.

He bows his head in front of me in respecting manner.

“I know that Alpha. I am requesting because, you can still make the decision and save the energy when we capture that person. Everyone in the pack are already anxious by the news. You as their Alpha should be here to keep them in check” he explains.

I take my time digesting his explanation and thinking for other reason as to why I should defy him. But as I looked for the reasons, there were none whatsoever.

“Fine. If you guys don’t come back in an hour or so after capturing the person, then I am coming with enforcements” I stated. I wanted him to know that there will be consequences.

“I will keep that in my mind and inform the others of the same” he nods at me. I could see that he was relieved to know me not joining them.

I don’t understand, why he is so against of me joining. But knowing my experience with rogues, this is the right decision.

“we will see you once we have captured the person” with that he takes a leave from me after my nod.

I pace in my room at the news. I know that being occupied with when they will get the rogue is not going to be right way of wasting my time, for I need to assure my people. With that thought in my mind, I walk out of my room and downstairs. In the pack grounds, I find many pack members present. They all looked jumpy and anxious. I know that they all are scared of me and for me, for they have seen how tough it was for me back then when I was suffering because of a rogue.

“good evening everyone” I grab their attention in my deep Alpha voice.

Everyone turns to me and bow their heads in respect.

“Good evening Alpha” there were choruses of reply.

“I hope that all of you had your dinner?” I inquire.

“we did Alpha” there was the chorus again.

“very well, as it is quite late, I request all of the elder pack members along with the children go back to houses or pack house, wherever they reside as it is quite late” I advised them.

“because the seen after this is not something, I want you people to see. It is not for your eyes” I stated. With that many of them wished me good night and left for their houses and rooms which are either in the pack grounds or in the pack house.

The last ones remaining were the youngsters who are trying to be strong in front of me but their stance says it all. They are jittery and nervous. But I give it to them, standing here in front of me and see something vile, needs courage to do so. I could see the determination of many of these pack members who want to show me how strong and courageous they are. I am so glad to know that they want to please me.

 It makes me immensely proud to see this side of my pack, even after fearing me, they still are standing here. It shows that the fear which I had instilled in them, they know that I don’t like the weak ones in my pack. And here it shows my strategy of wanting them all strong and courageous is working.

It has been almost half an hour and still there is no sign of the pack warriors and their Beta who had gone to capture the rogue.

‘where are you Adolf?’ I ask him through the mind link.

He always keeps the mind link open so that I can mind link him whenever I don’t go for these kinds of missions.

“We are almost there.’  ‘Alpha’ in that one reply I got to know something. They were not able to catch the rogue. There was a pause after his statement and then he said Alpha.

A fierce growl escaped past my lips. The youngsters scrambled to their feet at my anger and escaped to their rooms in fear with their tails tucked behind. The whole pack shook and got scared with my growl which was angry. I am sure the warriors also felt it.

I started pacing up and down, in front of the pack house.

“Alpha” stutters my assistant Ben. No one dares approach me when I am in my worst mood. But Ben has been with me for a long time and dares to take this kind of step once in a while. I snapped my dark eyes in his direction. He immediately takes a step back in fear but still holds his ground.

“Please Alpha, the children are crying. Your distress is making them all the more scared. Please calm yourself. You can get the answers once the warriors are back” he says with a straight face.

I sit down on the front steps of the pack. After another five minutes or so, I find them returning back.

Their stance was rigid as they walked the few steps near me and stood in front of me. Starting were Adolf and Xerxes. My eyes were shining due to the anger I felt. They were feeling uneasy due to my anger.

“Alpha, there was only a mild scent. As we went to the same place, the scent was washed away. We could not find the rogue or the scent” explains Adolf.

“How is that possible?” I snapped at him.

“Alpha, we did catch the scent, after searching for a while, the scent disappeared and there was no trace at all” explains one of the guards Steve.

“Who was the on-duty guard?” I asked through gritted teeth after listening to their explanation.

“and how in the hell is it possible for scent to just vanish in thin air like that?” I growled angrily.

“We don’t know that Alpha” he replies nervously.

“the guards” I bellowed.

Immediately the guards from the duty came and stood in front of me. They were nervous.

“from tomorrow, you both will do all the pack work including washing clothes of the whole pack. For now, you will spend a night in the dungeon. You will have to bear the silver. How you will save yourself is up to you guys. Also, you will report for the duty in the evening as you regularly do” I stated.

They stiffly nodded their head.

“Go away now and straight to the dungeon. There the guards will see through the punishment” I informed them.

When they were slow, I let out a growl which made them pick up their speed.

“Don’t you think you were too harsh on them?” asks Adolf when everyone else left.

“don’t start with me now Adolf” I snapped at him.

“I am not Aedion. For once think with your clear head rather then the anger” he says to me.

“what do you mean?” I ask him in confusion.

“don’t you think it is weird for the scent to suddenly vanish in thin air?” he inquires with a frown.

I take my time in answering and then smirk at him.

“I find that weird. And that is the only reason why I gave them so simple punishment. Don’t you know me already” I raised my eyebrows at him inquisitively.

He chuckles and shakes his head at me “I should have known rather than to question you” he nods at me.

“I gave them the punishment because, when they caught the scent, they should have immediately followed it and tried to capture the rogue rather then informing others and alerting the rogue. They should know how to be stealth in these situations” I explained to him.

“fair enough. So why do you think we could not catch the scent all of sudden?” he asks.

“That is something, I will try to find out” I nod at him with a grim look on my face.

“Do you think that something is going on our pack grounds, which we are unaware about?” he inquires with a frown.

“That seems the case to me. I will speak with the pack fairy and see what is the matter” I inform him.

“yes, that will give us the insight of what is going wrong” he states with a nod of approval.

“So, tell me what exactly happened when you reached the grounds?” I inquire as we get up and walk inside the pack house.

“Nothing much. We followed the scent and reached in circles as if the person as gone in the same direction for a while and then it vanished after walking for few distance.” He explained.

“Very well. I will see what can be done. For now, good night” I nod at him and walk away.

I enter my room and call out for the pack fairy.

“oh, fairy of the mystic shadow pack,

Otsana, I request your help in this situation which has made my pack a bit edgy and are anxious with what happened” I call out for her through my mind. Only I am the one on our pack who can call for the pack fairy.

She is someone, who comes only when she hears the problem and then decides whether we need her help.

I wait for her reply for ten minutes, when there was no reply, I prepare myself for bed. I was about to sleep when her voice enters my head. What she says next my breath hitch. I was not expecting this from her. It was unexpected and left me sleepless for the rest fo the night, for it was not news I was expecting in the first place.

All that remained in my mind is a ‘why?’
