Nathaniel was finally able to finish his work when his team leader interfered on the topic. It was already afternoon, he was walking to his apartment when he saw his mother walking back and forth in front of his apartment building. Naomi ran to Nathaniel when she noticed him. She looked so anxious, which made Nathaniel worried that he also ended up running to her. Naomi grabbed both of his shoulders and shook him a little. "What's the problem, mom?" Nathaniel asked when Naomi didn't speak. She just looked at him with wide and anxious eyes but she didn't speak. She didn't know what to say. Earlier this morning, while she was cleaning Nathaniel's apartment, she got a message saying that she just received one hundred million. There were a lot of zeros that she had to put her phone too close to her face just to confirm that she just received a hundred million dollars. "Mom, calm down and tell me what happened?" Nathaniel took his mother's hand on his shoulders. Naomi opened her mouth but there were no words that came out of it. After a couple of more minutes, Nathaniel sighed and pulled her mother to his apartment building and went inside. "Let's go to the apartment first. Once we arrive, tell me what happened." He said and matched his walking pace with his mother when he noticed that she was having a hard time catching up to Nathaniel. Once they arrived at his apartment, Nathaniel made his mother sit at the worn out couch and fetched a glass of water in the kitchen. He let his mother drink some water first before sitting down next to her and asking her what happened. Naomi sighed and brought her phone out. She clicked the message she got earlier and showed it to Nathaniel. "I got this this morning. Just what is the meaning of this, Nathaniel? Where did you get this money? Don't tell me you've been doing some things illegally?" Naomi's eyes were filled with worry and panic as she waited for Nathaniel's answer. Nathaniel stared at the phone for a few seconds and looked up to his mother. He smiled and touched his mother's hands. "Don't worry, mom. I didn't do anything bad like what you are thinking." He assured his mother with a smile but Naomi's expression didn't get better at all. She narrowed her eyes on her son as if she was still suspicious of him. Nathaniel knew that he couldn't tell his mother that he became a commissioner because she would just worry about him. "Nathan, tell me the truth. Where did you get this money?" Naomi gripped her son's hands and looked straight in the eyes. He just smiled at her and told her what she had always told him if something was uncertain. "Leave it all to time, mom." Nathaniel stood up and opened the curtain in his apartment. He looked at the direction where the island he was supposed to go on his mission to. He might not see it from where he is but he knew that Governors Island was in that direction. "What should we do with the money, mom?" Nathaniel turned to his mother after a minute has passed. He was rather surprised after he turned around and saw his mother observing him closely. 'She's still suspicious of me.' Nathaniel thought and made sure that he was acting fine. Nathaniel was smart and he got it from his mother. If he is smart then she is brilliant. However, she wasn't able to use her intelligence to her life because of her family and Nathaniel himself. It was also one of the reasons why he always feels guilty for burdening his mother. "Nathan, I know that you are a good kid and I trust you and I will keep trusting you, so please, don't keep secrets from me alright?" Naomi said and smiled. Nathaniel smiled back at her but what she just said became engraved in his mind. 'I'm sorry, mom.' He thought and sat down next to her again. "And what do we do with the money? Why are you still asking the obvious? Of course, we will go to the doctor tomorrow and have you checked." Naomi punched Nathaniel's shoulder lightly. "I can't go tomorrow, no, maybe I can't go this week at maximum. My boss told me to definitely go to work tomorrow." Nathaniel said. "What? Why? Is there anything that you can do that the others can't for him to tell you to go to work definitely?" Naomi was flabbergasted. Nathaniel felt sorry for President Martin for using him as an excuse but it was also the truth. Although, not till the part where he could do something that his seniors couldn't. "And what do you mean a week for maximum?! Are you going on a trip or something?" Naomi continued her rants. 'Well, I guess I can call it a trip if only I wouldn't be fighting to death.' Nathaniel thought. He felt his heart clench when he thought of the word death. He stared at his mother while she continued blabbering about how his boss mistreats him or something. 'I can't believe that this might be the last day I'm going to see mom. I wish she wouldn't blame herself once I'm gone. I hope she will take care of herself from now on.' Nathaniel thought and he stood up from the couch and faced his mother. "Mom, do you want to go shopping? Well, we have a lot of money now, might as well buy a new house, and a big one at that. Let's eat expensive food tonight. Go and change your clothes, I'll call a cab." Nathaniel smirked at his mother and she couldn't help but shake her head sideways as she smiled and got up from the couch. That night, Nathaniel and Naomi experienced the most relaxing and fun night they ever had. And Nathaniel had no idea that the black token, which was once solid turned into gas and entered his body. Without his knowledge, Nathaniel gained a new heart.
