Nathaniel noticed how Mr. Lowell said that the monster had already come out of the crypt after it hadn't been discovered for a week. However, what Nathaniel didn't know was that Mr. Lowell slipped when he said that the monster had already come out of the crypt.
What Mr.Lowell said was actually what was written in the prophecy. It was a slip of the tongue for him, but because of that little mistake, a bomb may explode any moment that might cause him a great loss.
Mr.Lowell fixed his glasses to hide his nervousness. Nathaniel waited for Mr.Lowell's answer patiently but he was a little confused. He wanted to know why a monster would stay silent if he was already out of the crypt. It was because Nathaniel hadn't heard any news about a monster causing a massive destruction.
'The government should not be able to hide a casualty that large, especially when the monster is a high tiered monster. Except if the description written in the document is just an exaggeration and was supposed to scare the commissioners and prepare well.' Nathaniel became lost in his thoughts while waiting for an answer from Mr.Lowell.
"That... the government was also investigating it with the help of the military on patrol." Mr.Lowell finally answered but he was already sweating profusely because of the intense gaze Nathaniel was giving him, but the truth was Nathaniel was only thinking about the possibilities.
Mr.Lowell was a very prideful man. He won't let anyone look down on him except if that person was higher than him, this was also the case with President Martin. However, being under Nathaniel's intense gaze made him feel like a mountain was towering over him. He felt frustrated and annoyed because he knew that Nathaniel was just an ordinary civilian who had a little time left in the world.
"Is that so? Then, I have one more question." Nathaniel said, which made Mr. Lowell tense up.
"What is it?" Mr. Lowell unconsciously gulped. Without his knowledge, he was already refraining himself to breathe.
"How long will the mission last?" Nathaniel asked with a straight face. "There was no particular date when the mission will end written in the document and neither did you say when." Nathaniel added.
Mr. Lowell felt the building lump in his throat disappear and he was able to breathe again. He glared at Nathaniel because of the nervousness he made him feel. He did it so openly that Nathaniel flinched and took a step back.
"It will last a day at minimum and a week at most." Mr.Lowell answered and turned his back on him.
Nathaniel tilted his head waiting for any more orders or information that Mr. Lowell could give him, but Mr. Lowell just looked back at him his eyes were still hard and gestured Nathaniel to come closer.
Nathaniel walked beside Mr.Lowell who was swiping in the air to move the high tech graphics.
"The government might still be investigating but we have already conducted our research and found a few possibilities on where the monster might appear." Mr. Lowell zoomed in on one place of the graphic map and showed Nathaniel.
"This is where we think he might attack and the time and date for the attack is tomorrow, was our conclusion." Mr. Lowell pointed in a certain location on the map.
Mr. Lowell might have said that the information he was currently telling Nathaniel was from their personal research but the truth was he just told him what was written in the prophecy. The place that Mr. Lowell pointed was also what the prophecy had mentioned in the scroll that President Martin had found.
It was in the middle of the city where there were a lot of places to escape to. Nathaniel might have stopped going to college because of his sickness but he was one of the smart students in his former class. He analyzed the map and saw the possible places that the monster might escape to.
Nathaniel didn't know that the possible escape routes he was locating, one of them was the path to where the monster's hideout was. When he realized it he lifted his hands and started swiping through the air.
Mr. Lowell watched as Nathaniel effortlessly used the system. He was genuinely shocked to know that Nathaniel knows how to operate high technolgies. He observed and studied every move Nathaniel did and his eyes shook. He brought his phone out from his pocket and stepped back for a little bit. He secretly texted President Martin.
The text message was, 'Mr. President, there might be more information to Nathaniel than what we know. I wil report it to you later once I finished handling my business here.'
Mr. Lowell brought his eyes back to Nathaniel but he was already done doing his job and the system was back to where it originally was like it was never touched at all. And because of that he didn't see what Nathaniel just found out.
"What did you do?" Mr. Lowell asked and walked closer to the table.
"Oh, it's nothing. I just found this thing a little interesting. I'm sorry for touching it so casually." Nathaniel pretended that he didn't know nor found out anything and changed the subject.
Mr. Lowell narrowed his eyes on Nathaniel when he looked away for a second but he immediately replaced his expression when Nathaniel switched his gaze back at him.
"That's all what I want to know, however, I hope that if you ever find out any useful information you will share it with me. Then, I will take my leave now." Nathaniel slightly bowed his head to Mr. Lowell before walking away.
Nathaniel went out of the base and went with his work in the warehouse. He might had become a commissioner but he is still a normal worker in the warehouse. He went to his usual station and was about to pack a weapon into a box when one of his senior walked over to him and put his arms around his shouder.
"Hey, Nathan, I heard that you became a commissioner? why would you be when you know that one punch of a monster will kill you?" His senior teased.
"What?! Nathaniel became a commissioner?" His other seniors near him heard what the other one said and began crowding over him.
Nathaniel sighed internally and thought that he won't be able to do his work properly again this time.
