Once again, Paul found himself pressed against Shannon in a tight space. When she reached over and gently squeezed his shoulder, he wondered if she could sense what he was thinking. He was glad she could not see his expression in the darkness. A tiny streak of light washed beneath the plywood. Paul glanced down and could see a two-inch space between the bottom of the plywood and the floor. Paul immediately tensed but then realized the dim quality meant the source was indirect light from flashlights below, not a light trained in their direction.
