Chapter 3

Aurora: “You are going to need to eat, Aurora.” My best friend, Natalia said, putting a tray with an egg sandwich. Her blonde hair was tied in a messy bun, much like it always was when she skipped going to her mother’s bakery. And it seemed to me that today was her skipping work day. “All I do is eat, Nat.” I said, and she laughed. “I am going to end up being ten times the weight that I was.” “You don’t even gain weight. The baby is going to need you to be strong and you are going to need to be able to give birth to this monster Alpha’s baby.” She said, referring to Ezio. I had to stop myself from laughing at the nickname that she was giving him. The woman hated his name, I knew that very well. “And you are lucky that I’m only giving you a sandwich. I wanted to give you a croissant. It was mom who suggested against it.” “You know that I burn more calories than a human does, and being pregnant, I am going to burn double or triple…” “And that is why you need to eat more. We are still keeping it healthy, though, we don’t want to tire your little one.” she said, making me shake my head. “You are doing more than enough for me, and you keeping me company is something that I am more than happy with. You knew where I was, and you see where I am now.” “You are my friend, and I would do more than that, you know that, Natalia. You took me to stay in your home, and you allowed me to stay when I had nowhere else to be.” I said, taking her hand in mine, squeezing it gently. “I am going to be late for work, though.” “You need to eat first, then you can go and get ready for work. You are not going to get ready on an empty stomach,” she said, and I laughed, shaking my head at her. “I ate a while ago. You know that I don’t have an empty stomach,” I said, putting a hand on my stomach where my baby was growing. I could feel him moving inside me, and I couldn’t help the smile that formed on my lips. It was the one thing that I got from the stupid mating bond that I was cursed with. “Underline the sentence, a while ago, ten times.” She said, turning to the door. “I won’t allow you to leave the house without food.” “Yes, momma,” I said, playfully rolling my eyes. “She isn’t your momma, but I am. And she is right, you are feeding two souls now, and you have to eat something to keep you strong.” She said, and I nodded. “Alright, Aunt Vivian, I am going to eat.” I said, and she smiled. “Your father called, by the way. The man is worried sick…” “You didn’t tell him right?” I asked, and she shook her head. “He is going to be furious if he finds out and believe me, I am not going to have any peace. They might even force me to…” “I know,” she said, stopping me as she looked at her daughter. She was put in the same situation a long time ago. “Anyhow, eat your food, you are going to be late for work.” I looked at my phone which has been off for the past two months, ignoring the pain that I felt in my chest as I fought the urge to want to call my father. To just assure him that I was alright. I would have if I knew that you would understand me, papa. But the two of us know that you wouldn’t… ****************************** “You are late,” my boss said, glaring at me. Her eyes met mine and I looked down at my feet, knowing not to argue. I was ONE minute late, but I knew that even being early doesn’t make a difference when she wants to find a mistake. A heavy feeling settled in my chest, and I couldn’t help but find myself frowning as I caught a familiar scent around me. The aura alone was tense, but I knew not to show it, I smiled and looked down at my feet. “We have a lot of work. We have an important number of guests, and I don’t want mistakes to be made. They are going to have a meeting, and you are going to do your job in taking care of their table.” She said, and I nodded. “Do we know who they are? The number…?” “I doubt that you should be concerned.” She said, stopping me. “You are going to serve them with Marissa. IF one complaint is said about you, I will not care about you being pregnant, I am going to fire you, do you understand me?” “I never put being pregnant as an issue. I know my job, ma’am.” I said, and she frowned. “I’ll go and get ready with my uniform. Excuse me,” She watched as I walked inside, not even bothering to spare her a second glance. The woman waited for the slightest mistakes to start a problem. It wasn’t something that I wanted to deal with right now. And losing my job was not something that I couldn’t afford right now. I put my bag inside my locker and put a hand on my stomach as I felt my baby moving inside me. However, I was surprised by my wolf reacting to something, and it wasn’t only my child. I shook my head, dismissing the feeling, knowing that it could have been nausea. But it wasn’t until my wolf whimpered, her pain growing more intense than it had been since I was rejected. I walked out of the dressing room toward the kitchen, not even caring about my colleagues who were looking at me as if I grew a second head. “Where do you think you’re…?” “You,”
