Chapter 9

(Naomi POV)
I woke up in the morning and found the room empty. The girls must have woken up earlier.
I yawned and got out of my bed. I took my toothbrush from my bag before walking to the bathroom. After going through my morning routine I changed my pajamas. I wore black tights and a t-shirt. I tied my curly hair to a pony before putting on a cap. I grabbed my black sunglasses and walked out of the bedroom.
The living room was empty. "I guess they are out" I muttered before walking out.
"Surprise!!!" everyone yelled as soon as i step out. I jumped in shock, putting my hand over my chest.
"Happy Birthday!!" Lo said as she ran and gave me a bear hug.
"H-how?" I asked confused. I told nobody about my birthday. So how...
"We have our ways, Hun." She said giving me a wink.
"Happy birthday" a soothing voice came from behind making me go tense.
I slowly turned to come face-to-face with Railey. My face burned as i looked at him from top to bottom.
He was wearing a black sleeveless hoodie and cream shorts. His hair was left in a "just got out of bed" look and it took every fiber in me to not run my hands through them.
"t-thank y-you" I stuttered looking down nervously.
A hand went to my chin lifting my head up slowly to meet his eyes. He gave a breath-taking smile and millions of butterflies fluttered in my stomach.
"Oh my" I whispered and his eyes went to my lip making me bite them.
"Don’t bite your lip" his voice was rough and strained as though he was trying top control himself.
"Come on!!! Let’s cut the cake. I want cake!" Danni whined as Roe smacked his head.
"What is wrong with you" she scoled him as we laughed made our way to the table. I laughed as they started to sing a song with a lot of happy birthday being mentioned.
I stood there not knowing what to do. "What are you waiting for? blow the candles and cut the cake!" Dani smiled wide as i nodded.
I did as they told nad took the cake in my hand looking at them.
"First piece to Railey!" Vince shouted making me blush hard.
Railey walked up to me and lowered himself to my height. I slowly lifted my cake near his mouth as I looked into his mesmerizing eyes. He took a bite whilst not breaking eye contact.
Snap!
A light flashed making me look at Lo. "So cute!" she screamed looking at the photo.
I looked at Railey as he shakes his head with a small smile. Then he took a piece of cake before putting it on my mouth.
"Happy birthday," he said once again.
"Thank you," I said smiling.
I'm going to enjoy this feeling while it lasts. Only a few more hours until my birth time...
(Railey POV)
I stood back as I watched the rest of my friends give my beautiful mate her birthday gift. She looked really happy as she opened each present.
I couldn't help but admire the beauty in front of me as I kept on thanking the moon goddess a million times for such an amazing mate.
My wolf sighed in content and flashes of what happened yesterday ran through my mind.
[Flashback]
I was woken up in the middle of the night as I felt my wolf being restless.
‘What is it, Hunter?’ I asked my wolf as it howled restlessly.
‘Can we go for a run?’ he whined as I nodded.
A run through the forest would be amazing.
I walked out of the cabin only wearing my shorts. The moon stood high and mighty in the sky.
I closed my eyes breathing in the fresh air. I then went behind a tree and removed my shorts before changing into my midnight black Wolf.
But as I ran through the forest an amazing smell of Honey and lavender hit me.
‘Mate!’ Hunter screamed as I ran towards the smell. I stopped behind the bushes to find her standing alone, her back facing me. Her light blue nightdress swung in the gentle breeze and I felt my breath hitch when she turned.
Her face was stained with moonlight making her look like a beautiful angel.
My beautiful angel.
I was shocked when she went on submission as soon as she saw me.
How did she know that? But she shocked me more when she called me Alpha. My heart was beating fast at the thought of her figuring it out.
She said she knows a lot about wolves but my doubt arose when she started saying things that didn't make sense.
‘In my world'? What’s up with that?
What does she mean by that?
But all that went out of the window when she said she likes me.
My heart felt like it skipped a few beats.
She said she likes me!
I can’t even describe how I felt when she said that. My wolf bounced in happiness as I looked at her. But it confused me when she said she is not meant to love me and that she will forget the feeling tomorrow.
I can’t let that happen! So there and then I decide. I'll make a move on her tomorrow. And when she mentioned it's her birthday and I couldn't help but grin at the perfect opportunity.
I quickly got up and went to the cabin as I said goodbye. I walked straight to a snoring Vince before shaking him up.
"Whaaaaat" he groaned turning around.
"Vince, wake up. I need your help."
[End flashback]
And that is how we made a last-minute birthday party for the love of my life.
I took the present for her from the table and walked towards her.
I hope she likes it. It’s a family inherited pendant. I know it's too early but I couldn't think of a perfect moment to present it to her.
"And finally my present for you," I said giving her the box wrapped in blue.
"Thank you," she smiled as she opened it.
"Wow... Its so beautiful. thank you," she said as she looked at the piece of jewelry.
"May I?" I asked as she nodded. I took the item and went behind her as she lifts her hair up. I put on the necklace for her before she turned and looked down while touching it.
"Looks beautiful on you" I commented as I stared at the howling wolf lying on her smooth creamy skin.
She blushed and smiled muttering thanks, holding the pendant tightly in her arms.
The whole day we had a great time. We went hiking and took many photos. Exploring the wild had always been my favorite sport to enjoy but today was special since I had my mate beside me.
But to be honest she surprised me many times.
I always thought she was an indoor girl who loves to spend time around books but boy was I wrong. She could climb steep slopes and navigate more than anyone of us! Us werewolves!
I sighed.
So much for the mental plan of being prince charming helping the damsel in distress.
Right now we are sitting and roasting marshmallows in our campfire while playing 'guess the movie: boys vs. girls edition'.

Vince was right now trying his hardest to act out the name of a movie the girls gave. It’s almost midnight but we still seem to be at the peak of our energy.
Today was a full moon and the moon seems to shine more brightly than other days.
For werewolves, the full moon was the time where we usually mate. It’s not exactly necessary to mate at the full moon itself but first mating under the moon is considered to bring happiness and prosperity to the couple. Besides, an Alpha is always expected to have his first mating ritual under the blessing of the Moon Goddess.
I looked at my beautiful mate as she nervously played with her marshmallow. She raised her head and caught me staring. Her eyes widen as I gave her a smile. She looked at me for a few more seconds before giving me a small sad smile.
Why does she look sad and worried? Whenever I talk to her, first she will be very excited but as time passes, it’s like she remembers something, stops talking, and looks at me with sad and weary eyes.
"I give up" Vince shouted bringing me back to reality.
"Ha-ha... we won!" Lo said pointing at her mate.
"Babe, that's rude. You can’t do that to the one who loves you!" Vince said pouting.
"Sorry bae but a competition is a competition," she said flipping her hair.
"But what about the other day when I won the game. You also said the same and even cried" he said making her look at him with a deadly glare.
"What did you say?" she said raising her eyebrow.
"Nothing," he said quickly making her facial expression change into a smile.
"That’s what I thought," she said as she pecked his cheek and skipped to the cabin.
"I swear, this woman sometimes give me the creep" he murmured before following her mate.
"Come on we should hit the bed too," Danni said as he pulled a very sleepy Roe into his embrace.
"Good night Railey. Night Naomi" he said winking at me with a grin.
I looked at Naomi as she looked up at the moon nervously. She was looking so beautiful. Her midnight black curly hair was flowing with the wind and her face was lightened with the moonlight. She looks absolutely stunning in every way.
‘Now is the chance! Go get our mate!!’ Hunter cheered in my head and I nodded in agreement.
Yes, now is the time.
I took a huge deep breath before walking up to her.
"Naomi" I called as she looked at me in shock.
"Oh! I didn't see you there, Railey" she said making my wolf whine for going unnoticed.
"Beautiful night, right? The moon seems to shine more than usual" I said as she let out a sigh.
"Yea, it is brighter and stronger" she whispered nervously looking at the moon.
"Naomi. I need to say something" I said making her smile falter but she nodded for me to continue. I took a deep nervous breath before speaking out.
"Naomi. Can you go on a date with me?" I asked quickly. "I really like you, Nao. It would be amazing if you give me a chance" I said with pleading eyes.
"I..." she shuttered before taking a deep breath. ”I'm sorry Railey. If I do that, I'm betraying both you and me. We are just not destined to be with each other" she said making my heart shatter and my wolf howl in pain.
"But we are destined..." I whispered looking down.
"AHHHH!!!!"
I heard a sudden filled the air making me snap out.
"Naomi!" I shouted as she fell limp. But luckily because of my wolf speed I was able to catch her before she hit the ground.
"Naomi!! Mate!! Wake up!!" I called shaking her. She was breathing frantically. Her face was red and she was sweating a lot.
Suddenly she stopped struggling and panting. I looked at her as my heart felt heavy.
What happened? Did she panic when I said that?
Oh no, what have I done!
I looked down at her as my eyes started to water.
But all of a sudden she took a deep breath before opening her eyes. She looked straight into my eyes like a series of emotions passed through.
"Versus Amor," she said before once again going unconscious.
