I silently eat my food. No one is having a conversation. The guards are just standing around the room watching over us and the kitchen staff are all in the kitchen. This is so different than in my pack. Those that ate at the pack house always talked with one another, the guards would sit and eat with those that were eating and the staff would come and go as things on the table became empty. I may not have been treated well by my pack, but I know that my pack had more happiness.
"Val please come to my office as soon as your mate is situated for the day. We have some things we need to discuss." King Brandon says looking up from his plate with a smirk.
I notice that everyone is done eating except for me. I still have some fruit left on my plate.
"I am done, thank you." I say looking up at Val.
I watch him stand and turn to the guards. He says something to Justin and James, but he says it quietly enough that I could not hear what he said. He turns and looks at me.
"Let's go." He says so I quickly stand up and follow him out of the dining hall. My two guards follow closely.
We stop at the front door. Val hands me his credit card and a cell phone.
"This is your new phone. I will need your other one. You may add who ever you want to the contact list. It has my number as well as your guards already programed into it. Whoever you do speak to, I need you to be sure you do not give away details about the Lycans or where we are living. Since my father wants to speak to me, the guards will take you shopping today. The two of them will be with you at all times when you are away from me." He says.
"Okay thank you. Am I only allowed to go shopping?" I ask him.
"You may do anything that you want as long as the guards are with you. The card has no limit. Enjoy your day, because your training will start tomorrow." He says as he turns and heads up the stairs.
I walk out the front door and smile as the sun hits my face.
"Our territory has most stores and restaurants within the territory. We can take a vehicle or we can walk most places. What would you like to do?" Justin asks me.
"I would love to walk. The sunshine feels amazing on my skin. Back home it is already getting cold and I didn't have much time to enjoy the outdoors." I say looking up at him with a smile.
"Then a walk it is." James says with a smile.
We walk down the long driveway and soon I can see lots of little shops around. I stop in one that has candles. I love candles and all the many smells that they can have. I picked up a few that I like. My guards stand at the entrance of the store and watch me. I walk up to the counter. There is a blonde behind the counter. I smile as I set the candles on the counter.
"Is that all?" She asks with a smile.
"Yes, it is thank you." I tell her as I pull out Val's card.
She takes it and looks it over.
"How did you get this?" She asks with a glare.
"It was given to me to use." I say looking over at the guards.
"There is no way the Lycan Prince would hand a measly wolf his card." She says as she tosses it back at me. " I will need another form of p*****t, I refuse to allow you to use his card in here."
"Is there a problem here?" Justin asks as he walks up to me.
"This little wolf is trying to use Prince Val's card. I am sure she stole it." The blonde says looking over at me with a glare.
"Actually I watched Val hand it to her myself. So I suggest you allow her to pay for her things, before I have to get Val in here to deal with you." Justin says handing the card back to her.
I watch as her shoulders sag and a tear forms in her eyes. She runs the card and hands me the receipt and card back. She puts my candles into a bag and tosses them at me, before she turns around and walks to the back of the store.
I walk out with my guards. James reaches over and grabs the bag from me.
"I'll take that for you." He says with a smile.
"What was that about?" I ask looking up at my guards.
"That is for Val to worry about and not you." Justin says to me with a soft smile.
We walk down the sidewalk and I stop at a few more stores. I find some make up that the sales lady suggested for me as I have never worn any make up. I found lots of summer dresses and a few jeans and tops. I stop in a shoes store and stop.
"Is everything okay?" James asks as he looks around the store and then back at me.
"I have never had new clothes and have never had new shoes. I don't even know where to start looking, not even sure what my shoe
size is." I say shyly looking down at the ground.
"Well they can measure your feet for your shoe size and then we can proceed from there." James says as he flags down a salesman.
"How can I help you?" he asks as he looks at the three of us.
"Well Chloe here needs to know her shoe size to start and then she will need lots of shoes. She only has one pair and has never had
new shoes. She deserves all that she wants." James says looking at me with a smile.
"Well okay then. Lets go sit over here and measure your feet." The salesman says as he leads me over to the little bench.
I sit down and take off my shoes so that he can measure. The salesman grabs my ankle and lifts my foot.
He drops it as there is a loud roar that echos inside the store.
I look up to see that Val is in the doorway panting and out of breath.
"Prince Val, is everything okay?" The salesman asks bowing his head.
