Chapter 4

I sigh as I sit down. I forgot that the Lycan King and Queen also live here. I do not know much about them, but I know that they have been King and Queen for a very long time. They will not allow Val to take over the kingdom until he has found his mate. That is why Val has been searching so hard for so many years to find her.

Just turns out that the her they have been looking for is me. I do not know what to feel. I never wanted a mate, and I sure as hell never wanted to be the queen of the Lycans. Can I even be the queen when I am not a Lycan myself?

I look over the table and it is bare, no food in sight. All that is on the table is coffee, cream and sugar cubes. I am not a coffee drinker and that is all that is on the table. I sigh and fidget with my hands. I look up and see Val watching me.

“Do you not drink coffee?” He asks me, tilting his head to the side as he watches me.

“I do not, I am a tea drinker in the mornings.” I say looking down at my fidgeting fingers.

“Justin, will you go into the kitchen and let the staff know that Chloe here drinks tea in the mornings. So they need to have hot tea sitting in her spot in the mornings with some honey and lemon.” Val calls out looking over his shoulder at the two guards standing behind us.

I watch Justin nod his head as he walks through the swinging door that leads into the kitchen. Shortly after he walks back out a staff member hurries out behind him with a small tray. She walks over and sets it down in front of me. It has a tea cup, a teapot, a jar of honey and a bowl of lemon slices. I smile up and thank her. She bows and walks away.

I pick up the teapot and pour myself a cup of tea. I add in a spoon full of honey and a squeeze of a lemon, I then add a splash of cream. I pick up my spoon and stir it. I lift the cup and take a sip, perfect and delicious. I set the cup down and look up to see Val watching me intently.

“Is something the matter?” I ask him.

“No, I was just watching to see how you like your tea.” He says with a smirk.

We sit silently sipping on our drinks. Soon the kitchen staff comes out and stands along the wall, Val stands silently, I quickly stand as he does. I do not know what is going on but I am sure there is a reason why everyone is standing the way that they are.

I was right soon as everyone was in their place the King and Queen walked into the dining hall. The staff and guards all bowed, Val tipped his head in a low bow to show respect to his parents. I do a full bow as I do not know what is expected of me.

Once the queen and king take there seats Val sits and I follow his lead. The staff quickly go to the kitchen and begin setting pitchers of water and juice on the table. Then they bring out carts full of food out. They set them along the table and then bow and leave the dining hall.

Val reaches over and grabs my plate he fills it full of all the different foods and then places it back in front of me. I notice that the King is doing the same thing for the Queen.

“Thank you,” I say looking up at Val. He just nods at me and starts to put food on his own plate.

I just start to eat. The table is silent and the King and Queen are watching me and then looking over at Val. I am not sure what to do so I just stay silent and eating.

Once Val has his plate loaded with food he looks up at the King and Queen.

“I have found my mate, her name is Chloe and she will be living with us now. I have her set up in her own suite now and I have already assigned her two personal guards. Here in a few months we will do a mating ceremony, then when ever the two of you are ready we will be able to take over the kingdom for you.” Val says to them.

“Well we are happy for you. Miss Chloe I am Branden and this is Renee.” The King says as he looks over at me with a smile.

“Chloe I am so excited and so glad that Val has found his mate at last. I will be starting you with some leasons to help you prepare for your role as the Lycan queen. I am sure you do not know much about us or how we do things here. We have had to live pretty secret lives for awhile now, and I will be sure to explain that to you so that you understand why we do what we do.” Renee says looking at me with a big smile.

“It is so nice to meet the both of you. I look forward to getting to know you all and learning about your kingdom.” I say to them with a slight bow, to show them the respect that they deserve.

“The Queen means everything that she has said to you. But there is something off with the King, I just dont know what it is yet. I feel like Val is keeping something hidden way deep down as well. I think we are in for some big surprises over the next few months.” My wolf says as she surfaces to look through my eyes at everyone around us.

“Well then we will have to just be on guard and watch how everyone acts. Just stick to ourselves and do what is asked of us.” I say as I go back to eating.
