Gina

"What are you doing Vanessa" The woman exclaimed. The girl whom she called Vanessa moved back. Grumbling something under her breath. "Out!" The voice she used sent shivers down my spine. It was so loud that for a moment my head spun around. Vanessa slowly advances towards the door not before glaring at me. I contemplate whether to speak or sit back down. The woman was still following with her gaze.

"Come to the kitchen too" She said. This time around her voice was calm. I heaved a breath I didn't know I was holding. She has that scary voice.

By the time I arrived at the kitchen, I was surprised to see Maria. She passed me a wink. I passed her a questioning look instead. Silence took place in the kitchen. Vanessa looked at me whispering something to Selena whose eyes was on me. I recognized the other girl who Lady Hera was shouting on earlier. I couldn't understand the expression on her face. We were six including the woman earlier which if I'm not mistaken should be the kitchen head. "As you all know, Lady Hera announced kitchen rules will change last night" The woman commenced.

"Yes Mrs. Rosa" Maria answered.

"Good. From now on each person will be assigned a particular work he'd be doing in the kitchen. Before it was turn by turn. Which make work quite too much for one person. I will still be inspecting you girls. So you girls should pay attention to the work you'd be assigned to"

"Mrs. Rosa does th-"

"I'm not done talking yet" She interrupted Selena passing her a look. Maria and I did the same.

"You ask your question when I'm done delivering the message. So, as I was saying, you girls will be grouped. Each set will the one to take over the cooking in the kitchen in that particular day. It will be turn by that. I hope I'm making myself clear" She uttered. There was no form of play on her face. The right kind of expression for discipline.

"I will group you now. And the first set will start from today. Maria and Vanessa step forward" She said. I could see the disdain look Selena passed Maria. I bet they were not expecting to be grouped together. Nevertheless, they stepped forward.

"You two will start cooking from today. Claire and Gianna" I couldn't label how my heart skipped when she mentioned my name.

Claire and I stepped forward marching up to Vanessa and Maria level. "You two will start tomorrow. From then you will be switching"

"What about Selena Mrs. Rosa. Why wasn't she given any task?" Vanessa ask. I was also curious.

"What's your business with whether I'm involved or not" Selena spat glaring at Vanessa.

"Enough. I don't want to hear any argument. Selena will not be included in the kitchen affairs because she has other works" Mrs. Rosa explains. "I trust you girls know what you're required to do. All the best" And she turned on her heels and walk out.

And that was when Vanessa began talking. "This is practically bullshit!"

"Well, you cannot do anything about it. I advise you to start cooking. You know the Alpha doesn't tolerate any form of lateness" A smirk was plastered on her face. Vanessa charged forward in anger only to get pulled back by Maria.

"Control yourself Vanessa. You know the rules" Maria calmly asserted. Vanessa yanked her hand away instead. Selena hissed out before storming out.

Vanessa suddenly yelled out. "I so much hate this house. I hate everybody!" She threw her fist on the kitchen counter in anger.

"Is that how things are in this house?" I whispered to Maria.

"Yeah. This is just little from what you will see"

"You can leave. We want to start cooking" Vanessa announced. This time around, her voice was calm. Unlike few minutes ago, she sounded like she'd murder us.

"See you later" Maria hushed out patting me on the shoulder lightly. Claire was already out before me. Lady Hera and Selena were at the sitting room. They didn't even notice me as their attention was fixated on the soap opera they were watching.

Claire was laying on her part of the bed by the time I entered the room. I didn't attempt to talk because she seem to be out of it. Her face was faced upwards. I sunk in a deep breath as I slid on the bed resting my head atop my hand. What transpired in the kitchen few minutes ago replayed in my head. I don't want to jump to conclusion. I don't really know the reason why Selena wasn't included in the kitchen task.

I know it hurts Vanessa knowing that she can't do anything to change that. For the fact that Selena is Lady Hera's cousin. She has more privilege than us. But then that is not fair. I was in that thought when sleep engulfed me.

My eyes slowly unwind to the sound of my name being called. "Wake up Gina" I heard the voice of Maria again making me to clear out the sleep from my eyes.

A yawn escaped me as I sat up. "We're done cooking" She said. I stared at her wide eyed. So fast.

"Alpha Marco came back with some guest. So, they're having dinner together" I nodded in answer. I wanted to ask her about Vanessa when she beat me to it.

"We didn't argue much with Vanessa. Although she was pissed all through. Selena is a drama queen. I have a feeling she and Vanessa will fight very soon"

"Why?" I asked.

"I sensed that. Because Vanessa was really pissed. We work our ass off day and night without getting acknowledged. And now this new rule. Will you be able to manage working here?" To be honest, I'm not sure myself. One thing is certain though. I will try my best.

"I will try my best" I said. Maria released a sigh. "I hope so. I brought our food. No need to go to the kitchen" That was when I noticed the bowl of freshly cooked potatoes with egg sauce. My stomach decided to make noise at the right time.

"I pray it taste good" I joked getting a glare from her In return.

"I'm just joking" I said chuckling out.

"Better" We dive in. "Not bad"

"All credits goes to me. Vanessa didn't do much. She was busy forming anger"

"I could tell right from the way she acted earlier" No words were then exchanged as we focus on eating.

We were done eating and I followed Maria to help her with washing the dishes. Vanessa is nowhere to be found. She left Maria to do all the work. With the amount of plates that were sitting on the washing basin, I could tell Alpha Marco invited a lot of people

"What are you doing here Gina" Our heads snapped to the source of voice. Selena

"What does it look like to you" Maria answered. I didn't even plan to in the first place.

"Aren't you suppose to focus on the work that awaits you tomorrow"

I opened my mouth to talk when Maria signal me to ignore her. She just want to create a scene. Maria shakes her head when Selena left. "That girl has a problem. She enjoys looking for trouble. Had it been I answered her, it would've turned to something big. Let's finish this up and go to sleep"

We finish up the rest of the work. Making sure the kitchen is tidied up. We were about to leave the kitchen when Mrs. Rosa enters accessing the surrounding. "That's good. Why am I seeing Gina instead of Vanessa?"

"I don't know. When I came back to the kitchen she wasn't around"

"I know that girl is very stubborn. You guys have done a good job"

"Thank you Mrs. Rosa" we said in unison. "Good night"

Maria changed out of her outfit and made her way to the bathroom. That was when I realized I haven't gone to the bathroom all day. That will be tomorrow. I crashed on the bed reaching for the light bed sheet beside me and cover up my body.

"Or should I turn on the humidifier?" Maria said as she made her way out.

"You have it?" I asked. Not that I want to use it.

"Yeah. I came with it from Grandma's house. But I don't use it that much because of prying eyes" As she said prying eyes, I understood what she meant remembering the little bicker between me and Vanessa earlier on pillow.

"Okay. I'm fine. This sheet is enough"

"Alright then. Goodnight. I'm feeling so sleepy" She climb up her bed. While I went ahead to switch the lamp beside me. I closed my eyes and allow sleep to take me. I'm officially starting my work tomorrow. I just hope everything will go smoothly. I pray I don't get on anybody's bad side.
