CHAPTER 31

1312 Words
VANCE SHE’S OUR MATE I hear Vince give Ares the go ahead as we both turn to the girls. “Vance,” Billie screams my name excitedly, trotting towards me, with her usual smile, arms stretched out reaching for me, but I will be damned if I allow her to ever get near me again. As if reading my thoughts, Vince yanks her back sharply. “Hey!” Billie protests, caught unawares. He grips her arms firmly, his fingers digging into her skin. His eyes blaze with a golden intensity, fuming as he glares down at her. “What the hell did you say to Nicole?!” he growls, saying each word slowly, and shaking her forcefully. “Tell me!” “Who? You’re hurting me!” Billie cries, gazing with fearful eyes up at his angry face. “Let go of me! Vance, tell him to let go,” turning to me, for help as usual. “I won’t Billie, not until you answer him,” I add, supporting whatever way Vince plans on dealing with this situation. Vince pulls her along with him, striding quickly toward a shocked and trembling Millie. He grabs her with his other hand, squishing both sisters together. Millie’s face goes from surprise to shock and finally to anger, whimpering just like her sister. “What the hell are you doing? Let us go!” “What did the two of you say to Nicole? This is the last time I will ask,” Vince growls, darting his eyes between the two. “What do you mean?” “We…we…we…I don’t know what you’re…” “Lie to me and I will not hesitate to break your filthy arms,” Vince warns. “I don’t know what you mean. Vance?!” Billie calls out to me. “Did you tell Nicole she doesn’t deserve us as mates?” I ask scanning their faces “That’s a lie!” Millie denies vehemently. “Yes, it is. Surely you don’t believe a word from that weak omega’s mouth, honey,” Billie adds. But I know Nicole wouldn’t lie about something like this. Not with the way she had looked heartbroken. Gosh. I hate myself more. Vince and I both release loud growls simultaneously. Who were they calling weak. Axel pushes forward snarling with bared teeth, his fur dancing under my skin, threatening to burst out. I grab her hair, turning her face towards mine. “Call her weak again, and it will be the last thing you ever say.” My breath comes out in sharp bursts. Her eyes fill with fear and surprise. “Why are you like this, Vance honey? You’ve never spoken to me like this before,” she whimpers, contorting her face into a mass of pity. But I won’t fall for it. “Well get used to it. And stop calling me Vance, honey.” I let her go and walk away. “What?” she gasps, her eyes widening in more surprise and shock. Vince shoves both of them away from him. They stagger, teetering on their high heels, holding onto each other to remain standing and not falling. Come to think of it, they are always wearing high heels. No matter the time of day or occasion, they always wore the damn things which I always found so offensive. “What the hell is wrong with you, Vince?!” Billie yells as both arrange themselves well. In two steps he is in her face, seizing her arms again. “This will be the last time you ever yell at me!” He shoves her away again. This time, her sister catches her. “Vance don’t just stand there. Do something,” Millie pleads as she holds her sister. “What is going on with the two of you?” “You will apologise to Nicole and never disrespect her in anyway if you still want to remain in this pack,” I say to both of them, registering how their eyes and heartbeats change. “Why will I apologise to her when she’s a nobody in the pack!” Millie blows off a lid. For the first time we get to witness a new side to her. “You’re the one who is a nobody!” Vince roars at them both, closing the distance between him and them in two long strides. His rage making them flinch and pull back some steps. “You will respect her because she’s our mate! Your future Luna!” Rather than look shocked at this revelation, they simply looked at each other and bending their heads. Did they know? “Strange,” Vince says in our link as he looks down at their bent heads “My thoughts exactly,” I answer him before speaking to the girls. “You don’t look surprised.” Both sharply glance at me, their heartbeats increased and they huddled closer. “Answer me!” I yell at them. “We are shocked that’s all,” Millie says in a low voice, both sisters slowly raising their eyes to meet mine defiantly. “That’s not how to show you’re shocked. What are you hiding?” Vince hovers over their faces, making them cower away from him, yet retain their defiant looks. “Tell us.” “Nothing.” Billie pulls out of her sister’s hold, edging towards me. “Vance, what about what we had. You said you loved me.” She tries to touch me but I move back. I do a quick scan of my memories, searching for when I ever said that to her or promised her a future with me. “I don’t think I ever said I loved you.” “But you came to me, asking me to be yours. You can’t just throw what we have away because of her,” she tries to reason with me. I can’t blame her for thinking there was something between us. After all, I asked her to be my girlfriend. I even went to her on the night I rejected my mate. s**t! That’s another thing I have to keep hidden. If Nicole ever finds out, it would create a huge dent on our already fragile bond with her. “Billie, whatever we had ended when I found my mate. We can’t be together again.” “Liar,” Axel snarls, giving me a stink eye. He’s right. I still remained with Billie. I have no excuse for doing that. “Why not? Nothing has to change between us because of her. You were thinking of making me your chosen. Right?” Damn this girl. She must have inferred from my actions that I did. And I was. Thank the Goddess I didn’t. Vince growls. “If he did before, he’s no longer thinking so again. Get that into your thick skull.” “Let him speak for himself, Vince. Just because you don’t like my sister doesn’t mean, your brother can’t love me,” Billie boils over, glaring at him, folding her arms over her chest. “Vance…” I stop her with a palm. “Just like Vince said, if I was thinking of making you my chosen mate, that was then. I no longer want you to be my girlfriend or chosen mate. It is over between us.” I make sure my eyes are looking into hers and hope she can see that I am serious. “And for the record, I never loved you.” Her eyes turn to full saucers. “And you’re never to come to our place again. Or get near us,” Vance adds before finally adding the cherry on the top. “You can tell your father that he just wasted his time. His plans have failed.” Their gasps and shocked faces mirror the truth.
