CHAPTER 95

THE ONLY WAY “There’s no way I am going to be bonded to that girl!” Vince yelled, his frustration boiling over as he kicked a chair, sending it crashing to the ground. “Calm yourself down, Vince,” Malia rushed to his side and held his shoulders. “I can’t be bonded to her. I have my own mate!” Vince reeled out in anger and frustration. He couldn’t help but to throw Vance a hard glare. This was all his fault. If only Vance had listened to his warnings long ago, none of this would be happening. Now there was a significant chance that he could lose his bond to Nicole. “Torin is there no way to break this unnatural bond that’s about to form?” Drake asked. Torin sadly shook his head. “It’s dangerous.” By pumping more of his powers into the mix, the dark magic could over absorb his power and potentially self-destruct, break the bond. Of course, he would need days to recover his strength and powers, which was a minor concern for him. Vance and Billie were the ones who were going to have issues. Their wolves actually. Both of them could lose their wolves. “I will do it,” Vance rasped from behind them. They turned to see him easing out of the bed. “Honey,” Malia ran to his side. ‘Mom, I am fine,” he declared firmly, rising to his feet, His eyes found Vince’s. “I will do it.” “Still acting foolish as usual,” Vince grunted at him. “It’s my decision, and that’s final,” Vance retorted. “Just like your decision to stay with her. Look at where that got us. Got me!” Vince’s anger flared. Vance dropped his head to his chest. His knees shook a little as his strength was still not at full par. “I am doing this so everyone can be free of me.” “You don’t even know what it entails, yet you’re agreeing to it. Why are you so selfish? Always thinking about yourself,” Vince accused him. “How is this me being selfish? There’s a way I can be free from what Billie has thrust me into and I am taking it. Whether you like it or not, I don’t care,” Vance answered back. “Torin, what do I have to do? What does it entail?” Torin looked from Drake to Malia and back to Vance. “It’s going to involve your wolf,” he explained. “Axel is ready for anything,” Vance affirmed, allowing Axel to surge forward and participate fully in this conversation. “You could lose him,” Torin cautioned, throwing the room into stunned silence. Malia ran into her mate’s arms, burying her face into his chest as she choked back a sob. “We will do it,” Axel and Vance both announced. Even before he had spoken from the bed, Vance and Ares had been conversing as they listened to the conversation in the room. Both had felt the connection with Billie growing when Torin was performing the ritual in the cell. Something was drawing them to her, starting to imprint her into their system, wanting to make her the center of their world. The feeling was like a knife scraping at the edges of the circular bond that tied round their hearts, with the ends connected to Nicole’s heart. As it was scraping off the bond, it was replacing it with its own. Had Torin not stopped, they would have fully bonded with Billie and her wolf. He and his wolf had agreed that whatever it took, they had to break free of whatever bond was trying to form. And when they heard Torin say there was another way, he had spoken out. Again, both had agreed to go ahead with it even with the complications. “s**t!” cursed Vince, flipping another chair off the floor. “Why didn’t you just listen?!” Ares growled inside Vince. Vance sat back down as waves of anger, frustration, fear and loss hit him and his wolf, coming from Vince and Ares. His twin may be angry at him but wasn’t ready to lose him. “This is the only way, bro. Please, understand,” he linked Vince. “I am not going to lose you. We will find another way,” he replied him. His eyes grew still as another mindlink came in. “What is it, Stan?” “Sorry, to disturb you, Alpha. Luna has woken up and is asking for the both of you.” “How is she?” Vince asked. “Angry, hungry and wants to leave.” “Do not let her leave the house. Tell her we will be there soon. Thank you,” Vince cut off the link. “No word of this to her.” his eyes held Vance’s. “I won’t even breathe it,” Vance replied. “And this is not over. Don’t do any more foolish stunt,” Vince’s eyes softened. “Who was that?” Malia asked. “Nicole is awake and asking for us,” Vince replied. “Are you going to tell her?” Drake asked. “I don’t think you they should,” said Torin. “She needs to know. She is their mate,” Drake countered. “She’s dealing with a lot already, Dad. She can’t know about this,” Vince argued. “Vince is right,” Vance added, supporting his brother. “Nicole doesn’t need this.”
