~Serena’s POV~
I was running for 5 hours straight in my Lycan form. When I crossed Zedr's border, I heard a few shouts but I didn’t bother to stop or look back.
I reached the border of a clan and surprisingly, there were no guards on the borders. How can any alpha be so careless? Anyone can break into his territory like I am about to do. It's not that I want to be an intruder, but I don't have any other option right now.
I entered the clan without permission, shifted back to my human form, and wore the clothes that Cassie gave me.
I was tired and exhausted from all the running, so I stopped near a lake and took deep breaths while enjoying my freedom and the fresh air around me. This lake is very beautiful. It was surrounded by trees and beautiful flowers.
I looked at my reflection in the lake and saw a helpless girl looking back at me whose cheekbones were sticking to her cheeks, dark circles under her eyes, and my big blue eyes didn’t have that spark and glow they used to have. My hair is long but not shiny and looks lifeless. I have bruises all over my face, my legs, and arms. I can't believe it, is this really me?
I broke down seeing myself like this, no home, no parents, no family, and nowhere to go. I fell to my knees and cried until I passed out.
I felt someone touching my arm and I abruptly stood jolting in my sleep. I saw at least 8 men surrounding me and, luckily, they all were werewolves. Goddess, I thought I was dreaming about my freedom.
A man with dirty blonde hair and baby blue eyes stood in front of me. He held power and authority in his voice. With his aura, I can tell he is a beta.
With rage in his eyes, he looked at me and asked, “Why are you invading our territory, rouge? You know you can be killed for this little stunt of yours.”
Rage filled me hearing the rogue word. Sere and Star didn’t like someone calling them rogue wolfs but I calmed them down because he was right in his way.
A rogue is someone who does not belong to any clan, who is thrown out of their clan for their misdeeds. They are homeless and clanless wolves who do not belong to any clan and right now I’m one too. A wolf with no clan, but I didn't do any sin.
I replied, “I'm sorry. I did not mean to enter your territory without permission, but I need a place to live. I want to live in a clan. I don’t want to become a rogue. When I came here, there was no one on the border and I was running, so I entered without permission.”
“My people were running the patrols. You weren’t supposed to enter our territory like this, we have to take you into our custody. Cooperate, else I’ll kill you,” The beta said.
I instantly agreed with him with the hope of living among wolves again. One of his men blindfolded me and took me with him.
After walking for 20 minutes or so, we stopped. He removed my blindfold and told me to wait there until he came back. I blinked a few times to adjust my vision and in front of me, I saw a three-story mansion that had huge black gates and a huge garden. It is beautiful, but my father’s Castle was another kind of beauty I can never forget.
I fidgeted my fingers and looked around me nervously. I don’t know what has been happening to me since I came here. I was having a strong urge to live in this pack. Something inside me was telling me that I belong here since I stepped into this clan. My wolves were happy and comforted here.
Beta came back after a few minutes. He blindfolded me again and asked me to follow him. After walking for 10 minutes, he uncovered my eyes and a little cabin came into view which was heavily guarded.
Beta spoke, “My name is Taylor. I’m the beta of this pack. You’ll be staying here tonight. Don’t try to run away or do something stupid.”
I nodded and he led me inside.
It was a small cabin that has wooden flooring with one chair and a window. It also had a bed in the right corner of the cabin. Tears filled my eyes after seeing a bed after years.
“Here, take this ointment and apply it to your marks. Some food is stored in the fridge and there are clothes in this bag. I’ll see you tomorrow,” Taylor said.
“Thank you so much for this”. He nodded and left.
As he closed the door behind him, once again, I broke down in tears. Everything that happened to me started clouding my mind. My family, these thirteen years...
I wiped my tears, gathered myself, and lay down on the bed. It felt so soft and comfortable. Having a bed after 13 years angered me. I was living my life perfectly in my castle with amazing parents and family. Everyone loved me, and I had the most luxurious life, but Zedr Bishop ruined everything. He took everything and everyone from me and made my life a living hell. I swore to myself that I will take revenge on that pathetic warlock and went to sleep while thinking about my revenge plan.
*****************
I curled under the sheets and smiled at the chirping of birds. It was the first time in 13 years that I slept this long. I can tell it's afternoon already. Someone knocked and I groaned, I want a peaceful morning!
"You know you are in someone else's clan," Sere said.
I bobbed my head and walked to the door. The same guy who blindfolded me last night was standing there.
“Beta Taylor will be coming here in half an hour. Get ready,” He said.
I nodded and he left.
I took the new clothes from the bag and got ready.
Taylor arrived after half an hour and smiled. I smiled back as I felt at ease with his calm demeanor.
“So I guess you had a good sleep,” he said.
“Thank you for letting me stay here and providing necessities for me,” I said and thought if they treat all rouge wolves like that.
“You are welcome. You are an unknown wolf to our territory but didn’t seem like a threat to me and, by your appearance, I was able to guess you were going through tough times, so I thought of giving this to you.”
So they don’t treat every rogue wolf like that. Now, I'm confused. Why did he give me the special treatment?
I was about to ask him why he didn’t see me as a threat but he spoke before me, “Now, I want to know everything about you, starting with your name, who you are, from where you come from, and from whom you were running.”
I took a deep breath and started, “My name is Serena. My clan was attacked when I was 5. Warlocks, witches teamed up with vampires and rogues and attacked my clan. Everyone from my clan died, including my family. I ran away but that warlock managed to get me. He abducted me and held me in captivity for years. With the help of a friend, I escaped from his place last night. He told me to run in the west direction. He said that a werewolf clan was there and the alpha of that clan is the most powerful and feared alpha of the country and he hates witches too. So he might help me.”
I told him everything in one go, leaving my identity to be a secret. I don't want anyone to see me like a tortured princess.
Taylor frowned when I spoke about the alpha. I tried to read his mind but somehow I was unable to do that, so I continued, “Could you please tell me where Blood Moon Clan is? I want to go there and talk to the alpha if he can help by training me.”
“You want to get trained? You don’t want to take the alpha’s help to defeat your enemy?”
“No. I don’t want to risk someone else’s life. This is my fight.”
Taylor looked at me with surprise and tried to say something but I shook my head in denial, this is what I have planned. I won’t risk someone else’s life in my battle.
“Do you think you can take him down on your own?” He asked.
“I don’t know, there are high chances that I might die, but I will fight alone. I want to be trained only.”
Taylor looked impressed and said, “Well, in that case, I’ll help you with everything. I will introduce you to the clan tomorrow and then we will start your training. I’m Taylor Turner, the beta of Blood Moon Clan. Welcome to Blood Moon Clan.”
