Noah POV
"That f******g b***h," roared Jamie as he paced up and down the corridor outside of the operating theatre, nurses and doctors scattering as they felt his full fury.
I said nothing, I didn't know what to say. I'd always been closest to Mum and I knew how little she cared about Harry but even I didn't think that she would go this far. Dad was still alive, but barely. We'd seen them bring him in shortly after we'd raced here with Harry. I'd mindlinked our most trusted warriors to grab our Mother and to put her in a cell. We couldn't risk her escaping before we worked out what her punishment should be.
"She can rot in that f******g cell for all I care," he snarled, punching one of the walls and putting his fist clean through the dry wall.
"Jamie calm down, you're scaring the doctors," I said quietly, rubbing my eyes. "We need them on our side here and focused on helping Harry."
Before he could say anything, Louise walked out of the operating theatre, pulling the cap from her head and the gloves from her hands.
"What's happening? Is he ok? Can we see him," we both garbled as we rushed up towards her. She held her hands out and took a deep breath, looking at us both with concern.
"He's lost a lot of blood Alpha's," she said seriously, "and he's got a long way to go yet. The knife had wolfsbane on it which is halting the healing process significantly and the silver itself. Well, I don't need to tell you how difficult it is to recover from an attack with a silver blade."
The magnitude of everything hit us hard and we staggered back from the force of it. As triplets we were intricately linked, we felt each other's pain and emotions and when one of us was hurt, we hurt too.
Jamie looked at her. "What can we do? Can we give him some of our blood? Would it help?"
"Yes it's a start, but what he really needs is his mate," she gave us a long hard look, "there's nothing better than the mate bond to help someone recover from their injuries."
"Impossible," said Jamie abruptly, "she left us and rejected us."
"But you didn't accept the rejection did you? She's still your mate Alpha Jamie and if you don't get her back, there's a real chance Harry will die." She looked at us sadly before leaving us to our thoughts.
*******
We'd been sat by Harry's bed now for two days and there had been no improvement. If anything he looked worse now, his skin taking on a deathly pallor.
"His body is beginning to reject your blood Alpha's, he needs Ottilie."
Louise's words swam around my head before I couldn't take it anymore. I stood up suddenly, making the bed jolt as I did so.
"Jamie we have to go and get her, she'd want to help, you know she would."
"I'm not going anywhere," said Jamie angrily, "there's nobody we can trust to watch him whilst we're gone and anyway, if we are still joined by the mate bond she would have felt Harry's pain but she's not here is she? She doesn't give a s**t about us." Jamie's sadness had manifested itself into anger, he had never been great at processing his emotions, shutting down the instant it all got too hard. Ottilie was the easiest person to blame.
'You're being stupid Jamie, I'm sorry but you are. She doesn't hate us, she reacted to a s****y situation that we put her in and she panicked. I'm going after her, you can stay or come but I'm going to get her."
He ignored me, averting his eyes from mine.
"Fine," I growled after a second, "but you'll regret this, she needs to see both of us to understand what she still means to us, if you don't come, your chances of winning her back are slim to none and you know it." He snorted, but didn't say anything, he knew I was right.
The Blood Moon pack wasn't far away but I decided to go in my wolf form. Approaching by car would just seem like we were showing off, from what I knew Damon's pack was pretty old fashioned, they didn't have the money that we had and they certainly didn't have the top of the range SUV's that we did. Being a bit more humble might get me past the guards and into a room with Damon so that I could make my case. Going alone was key as well as taking warriors with me would give the wrong impression. This wasn't a rescue mission or an act of revenge, I needed a big favour and I needed him in my corner.
Thinking like a true Alpha said Marius proudly.
Thanks Marius, let me know if you sense anything ok? We're in rogue territory here.
Will do, he said importantly, putting himself on high alert.
It took me about six hours to get there by wolf, Marius had sensed rogues to the west of us at one point but my wolf was young and strong and we'd managed to avoid them.
They're no match for us anyway he scoffed.
I grinned, I was beginning to feel a real bond with Marius now and was grateful for his company. I finally understood why others talked about the wolves with such pride. As we approached the Blood Moon Pack borders I slowed, it felt like we were being watched. I shifted back into my human form, striding naked through the forest to the invisible borders that stood separating the pack lands from rogue territory.
I stood quietly for a few minutes, waiting to be apprehended. I was under no illusions that they wouldn't go easy on me.
"Who the f**k are you," a voice cut through the trees. I squinted, unsure of who it might be. A man I vaguely recognised emerged from the undergrowth.
"Alpha Noah from the Silver Fang pack, I request an audience with Alpha Damon."
The man strode towards me angrily. Throwing a bag of clothes at me he motioned for me to get dressed.
"An audience with Alpha Damon? Who do you think he is, some kind of King?"
"That is the proper way to request a meeting with an Alpha," I replied stiffly, "can I see him or not? It's urgent, it concerns Ottilie."
The man's whole demeanor changed, "follow me," he said shortly.
We walked in silence through the forest. At some point other men joined us, keeping their distance but watching. I didn't know how many but clearly the pack was on high alert.
The biggest shock was the pack itself, it was modern and big. The buildings looked well cared for, the pack house itself was enormous, possibly bigger than ours. Dad and always led us to believe that Damon's pack was backward, lacking in technology and money. It was a load of b*****t, this pack was thriving. The packmembers looked happy and dare I say it, happier than our pack.
Damon stood at the entrance to the packhouse, his arms crossed in front of him.
"What the f**k are you doing here Noah," he said menacingly. The man who had greeted me went and stood next to him, in the light of day I recognised him as his Beta.
"I need to speak to Ottilie," I said urgently. "I know you will think this is some desperate ploy to get her back but it isn't. My brother Harry, he was attacked, our mother attacked him and he's dying. He needs her and the mate bond otherwise he will die and I can't let him die Damon."
We stood in silence as he and his Beta stared at me in shock.
Finally Damon broke the silence, "you better come in and explain." he said standing to one side, allowing me to enter the packhouse. "Jake go and get Miranda, we'll meet you in my office."
Jake nodded and headed out, leaving me and Damon alone. "Come on," he said grimly, indicating for me to follow him.
Damon POV
It wasn't a shock that Noah had come for Ottilie, what was a shock is that he was on his own and his explanation for coming sounded almost unbelievable. Luna Maria was an evil b***h, she'd always hated me, even as a child. But to try and kill her own son? I just didn't think she was capable of that.
People are capable of more than we give them credit for, murmured Leo at the back of my mind as I sat, motioning for Noah to do the same, go easy on the boy, he's gone through a great sadness.
"I'm sorry Damon, for turning up like this, I didn't think you'd take my calls and we're running out of time."
Jake entered my office with Miranda following him.
"Noah this is Miranda, she has the gift of foresight, she'll be able to tell us if you're lying or not."
Noah nodded, seemingly unfazed by my words.
"Start from the beginning please," she said softly watching him closely with bright eyes.
