Chapter 6

“W-what are you doing here?" I asked as I quickly sat upright on the bed, defensing myself from him, holding the blanket that covers my nudity from the see-through nightdress I’ve been wearing. "You were mumbling in your sleep, and it was like you were having a nightmare, so I tried to wake you up." He said softly while staring at me deeply in the eyes with concern. "Are you okay?" "I—I’m fine." I stuttered as I avoided his tantalizing gaze and looked down as I found myself looking at his left ring finger that was emitting a glow from the seal that was etched on it. "Is there any news about my mom?" I asked, my voice sounding worried, and I looked at him straight in the eye. I don’t know what might happen to me if my mom is in danger,’ I said to myself as I patiently awaited his answer to my question. His face lit up with a smile as he answered me with the good news I’ve been wanting to hear. " God, that smile would be the death of me. " Your mom is fine. She is in good health and—" Seriously ? Where is she? I need to go and see her. " I said as I tried to stand up from the bed with my wobbling legs, ready to dash out of the chamber to look for her, but was stopped by the grip of his manly hand. It was warm and welcoming, and it made me let out a raspy breath from the sudden touch that sent an unexpected spark all over my body, making my heart melt inside. "She’s taking her rest as of this moment. It has not been that long since she arrived here." It’s best to leave her first and give her some sleep after everything that happened. " He said this while still holding my hand tightly. My face flushed as I looked at his hold on my hand, taking it back from his grip, later on composing himself. "Thank you for everything. I am grateful for everything you’ve done." I said sincerely as I looked at him with a sly smile plastered on my face. “And sorry for the commotion I caused yesterday. I was just shocked by what you did, that’s all. "It’s fine, it was my fault after all. No need to apologize." He said and stood up from where he was sitting and walked towards me, taking my hand and gently kissing the back of my palm. His kiss sent shivers all over my body, and it felt like electricity tickling me as I shuddered. "I apologize for the rudeness of my behavior a while ago." He said while kissing my hand and staring back at me. His lips formed a smirk in a smoldering look. You don’t have to worry about it, and besides, I should also apologize to you. I said while averting his gaze by looking away in his direction. "Aye, tis’ fine lass, no need to apologize about it." He let go of my hand and walked nearer to the fireplace, adding some wood to raise the warmth of the room as the dawn’s temperature was chillingly cold. "Care to join me?" He asked as he sat on the carpet near it without looking back. "I suggest you wrap the blanket completely around your body. With that clothing of yours, you’re making me want to pounce on you right here, right now." He added For a moment, I spaced my mind out on the bed contemplating what he just said, but soon found myself following where he sat and sitting myself as I watched the fire crackling inside the fireplace burning the woods he just shoved in a minute ago. "Uhm... so how’s everything?" I asked, breaking the silence between us, as we sat in the distance. "Tis’ fine, just a little worked up from everything. It’s been a long time since I felt tired within me." He said this while continuing to look at the burning flames. His raven black disheveled hair fell in unkempt waves around the godly features of his clean shaved face.My thoughts were stopped in their tracks as what he said wanted me to take back everything I thought. "I know I’m handsome; there's no need to drool over my face." "Excuse me?" I asked in a defensive and offended tone, making it more obvious to him that what he had spoken was entirely true. "I wasn’t drooling on your face, mister king. I was just merely looking at your face to confirm that you are really tired, just like what you said, duh." "Aye, don’t be so defensive, lass." He said, with a chuckle. "Whatever, you’re still a jerk." I retorted back at him and yawned as I felt sleepiness coming to visit me once more and felt a strong pair of arms pick me up from the carpet, walking with me on his arms towards the bed. His warm chest heaved up and down as I leaned my head on him, making myself comfortable in his warmth. "You should probably go back to bed and sleep." He spoke softly and placed me on the bed as gently as he could. After doing so, he turned his back on me, leaving the chamber as I drifted again once more. As soon as I closed my eyes, I found myself in front of the magical tree again, just like in my dream, but this time the sword that was embedded in the boulder was gone, and there were no traces to be found, like it wasn’t there after all. A loud roar echoed not far away, distracting my thoughts. I turned in the direction of the sound, only to come face to face with the castle I knew I was living in at the time, burning to ashes by the flames, and my heart hammered loudly as I saw the dragon flying just above it. How? How on earth was the dragon I saw right in front of me now trying to burn the castle to ruins also the same dragon I saw yesterday?
