Twirling playfully the lose curls of her hair which was pinned on a bun. Kassandre stood inside the carriage as it sped away from the castle, Draco alongside her.
"You look pretty..." Draco muttered, breaking the silence that had existed between them since they both entered the carriage and throughout the long voyage.
Kassandre answered, nervously twisting her fingers together, "Thank you, you look rather dashing too."
Looking away from Draco's sight, she nervously pushes herself further to the side of the carriage to avoid even the tiniest contact with Draco.
'About my dreams, Draco might have picked up on whatever Myrrah said, right? About the wife of the dragon? ’
"Uhm Draco, I have a question..." Kassandre started hesitantly, her words stuttering as she spoke.
"What exactly is it?"
" Draco answered, his attention drawn to his shirt's unfastened cuffs.
"Do you happen to know anything about dragons' origins and whereabouts?" Draco stiffened as soon as he heard those words, turning to face Kassandre to respond to her queries.
'Well, last night was a little awkward.' She whispered to herself as she attempted to unwind and forget about the conflict the night before.
The carriage was once again filled with deafening quiet and unease. Only the sound of wheels as they drive along the road to our destination.
"What piques your interest in them?" ”
"Just because," she replied in a rambling tone, "and furthermore, you are the king here, so I figured you may know something about it."
'Clearly, I can't inquire directly about the "Dragon's Bride" that Myrrah was discussing.' She muttered to herself.
Draco coughed, cleared his throat, and fidgeted anxiously with his shirt collar. Just as he was about to respond, a bump on the carriage abruptly halted the trip, forcing Kassandre, who didn't have enough time to react and grab something to keep her balance, readied herself to embrace the pain as she closed her eyes when she realized she was about to tumble all over the carriage floor. Just as her face almost kiss the floor, an arm snaked around her waist, sparing her from damnation.
As her gaze met Draco's, a bead of sweat rolled down her brow. Draco's gaze was buried with different emotions within.
"Are you all right?" " He inquired, his eyes wide with concern as he cradled her in his arms, reclining on his lap. Her eyes widened as she recognized the humiliating situation in which they both found themselves as she felt a hard bulging thing under where she seat a few minutes after calming herself. With her face blushed scarlet in the midst of the chill of winter, she regained her wits and walked away from his lap, collecting her dignity and trying to keep it intact.
He coughed as he returned to consciousness and noticed the impoliteness of his actions, particularly his companion's hardening between his trousers.
"Yes, thank you for catching me," she said, tucking her loose curls behind her ear, which was getting crimson.
To avoid the embarrassing tension within the carriage, Draco walked out and looked for the source of the bump that caused the carriage to come to a halt. Kassandre breathed a sigh of relief as Draco walked away, fanning herself to cool her still flushed cheeks.
Draco's mind wandered out of nowhere, his thoughts lingering on what happened just a few moments before when he grabbed Kassandre as she was ready to fall down.
The carriage door opened moments after what seemed like an eternity of waiting inside, and there stood Draco, offering his hand to assist me on the carriage's stairwell as I descended.
On the other hand, I accept his offer of assistance, clutching the hems of my skirt to be able to step down the stairs to prevent me from struggling to walk down. The wind blows fiercely, following his male aroma sifted in the air as it lingers through my nose. My feet slipped as soon as they touched the ground after walking over the carriage stairs, but Draco stopped me just in time.
"The carriage was broken from a sudden bump caused by a large rock; in the meantime, the coach will be repairing the carriage's damage parts, so now we'll be looking for a roof to sleep under," he explained as he assisted me. "The forest here is thick, but we could walk further and find a cottage near a lake." The walk may tire you out, but just let me know if you are tired so I can carry you out," he said as he led the way for us to go.
"There's no need for you to do that," says the narrator.
He said after the last line, "No, it's fine, I'm your spouse after all..." The sky rumbled with thunder, as the clouds darkened, and a glimpse of a threatening heavy rain incoming.
"I think we should better head out now," Kassandre remarked, reaching up her hands above the sky just as the first wave of light rain began to moisten the palms of her hands.
Draco snatched her hand in a bolt of lightning in response to what she stated, and began leading them towards an opening passage in the midst of the forest. As you walked past, there were no leaves on the trees, indicating that the fall season had already passed in their world and that they were entering winter.
Kassandre shuddered in the cold, her breath now apparent to everyone's eyes as she exhaled, letting forth a see-through smoke.
"Have we arrived yet?"
" Kassandre inquired, her voice trembling as the chill began to sink into her bones. The rain, which is now pouring heavily, causes their clothes to become soaked.
"Almost there," Draco said curtly, his hands still grasping Kassandre's, his warmth thawing the ice of hers as they linked hands and continued on their way to the cottage Draco mentioned.
The road became hidden as we progressed farther into the forest, leaving only the massive leafless trees to be seen.
Finally, after what seems like a half-hour of running. We've come to a standstill in front of what appears to be an entrance cave, with vines draped loosely across the entranceway, obscuring the interior. As we entered the opening, a massive musk scent greeted us as soon as we stepped in.
"How did we end up here?! This isn't a house; it's a cave! " She spoke to him loudly enough that her voice could be heard echoing around the cave, each syllable accompanied by a hiss. "Are you sure you know where you're going?! ”
"Yes, I do," says the narrator, "but be quiet or we'll attract deadly things."
"Are you insane?! Are you intending the both pf us to become their meal?!” Kassandre cried quietly as she drew closer to Draco, grasping his hand tightly in case a terrifying creature appeared from the darkness. "Don't you have any magic or something to produce some lights so we can see?" ”
"I have none," Draco said quickly, putting Kassandre's complaints to rest.
"If only I had my phone with me, we'd have a clear view of where we're going——" Before Kassandre could finish her sentence, the sound of footsteps trailing behind them silenced her. Terrified by what she heard, she squealed and clutched Draco's arm urgently, pointing a finger where the source of the sound was.
"What is it this time?" " Draco asked irritably, his brows wrinkled together as he gazed at Kassandre.
"There's something t-there!" says the narrator.
" She remarked quietly, her finger pointing in the direction of the trail we had just passed.
Draco shrugged as he followed Kassandre's lead and saw nothing. "There's nothing there; it's simply your fear-induced projection of your imagination."
"No, I don't!" says the narrator. "I have nothing to be afraid of," she responded, blushing at the thought of being called a scaredy cat.
"Do you mind if you let go of my arm?" Draco whispered in her ear. Kassandre's inner self jumped in excitement at his acts, while Draco's warm breath chilled her entire being.
"All right, fine! I was terrified, now happy? " She admitted right away, just as Draco was going to take her hand off from around his arm. Her face flushed scarlet with shame as she heard Draco's giggle beside her.
